In this Your Golf NCG video we are on the search for the best premium golf ball. Our PGA Pro Jack Backhouse and Tom Irwin put four of the biggest premium golf balls head-to-head in a full-on performance test!
The golf ball market is deep and that’s before you get to the high end models. They can also be extensive so it is good to know what you’re buying, the performance you’ll get and how it can help your game. We thought we’d give you a helping hand.
There is no doubting the pedigree of the Pro V1 when it comes to its usage on the professional tours. It is currently the most used golf ball on the PGA Tour, with the likes of Ludvig Aberg, Wyndham Clark and Victor Hovland all having the golf ball in play.
Titleist’s premiere offering might have the pro tours on lockdown, but is it the best premium golf ball on the market? To find out we tested the Titleist Pro V1, TaylorMade TP5, Callaway Chrome Tour X, and Bridgestone Tour B XS in three key areas:
⛳ Chipping – spin and control around the greens
🏌️♂️ 7 Iron – distance, feel, and consistency
💥 Driver – ball speed, launch, and total distance
Watch the full video to see the performance numbers, hear Jack and Tom’s verdicts, and find out which ball could help your game the most.

Welcome to NCG Your Golf. This channel is for you, the dedicated club golfer to help you improve your game and enjoy your golf more.
We specialise in equipment reviews and golf instruction, and we are lucky enough to play some of the Top 100 golf courses in GB&I.
The channel is hosted by PGA Professional Jack Backhouse, and he will help you improve your golf by helping you fix your slice, fix your gook, help you drive the ball longer, strike your irons pure, and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
Steve Carroll, an R&A rules official will often stop by to ensure you are not breaking the rules and get the opinion of an average club golfer.
Jack will dive deep into technology in reviews of all the latest golf equipment, helping you decide which is the longest driver, which fairway wood will stop you from topping the ball, and which wedges will pitch it closer, so you can lower your scores.

Interesting that, to my eye, Tom’s chipping action was less positive with the Bridgestone and Calloway, which I guess went along with his dismissive pre hit comments.
Brilliant reminder of how conservative golfers can be
I want a soft ball which is high launch low spin with driver and low launch high spin with irons and wedges, I don’t think it exists.
I play AVX, pro v1, now trying pro v1 left dash
Now fitted for a driver so low spin isn’t as important, pro v1 is the one I always go back to.
Really lame comments on the Bridgestone appearance. Totally undermines the review.
That was quite a contrast between iron and driver swings! I guess when you can bomb it with driver you can afford to swing easy with your irons.
Tiger no longer plays the blue box. He now plays the black box. This is a more recent change.
Why when influencers do test, they dont use just the normal player, that would be more relatable, instead of better players that can command spin, I would like to see the normal joe blow that cant spin on command, that way i truly know which ball is better for me
9:13 Things you are looking for (with 7-iron) are, ball speed, spin and descent angle – and proceed to never give stats on descent angle!!??!!
Hmm 17 and you picked 4 based on 'testing'. Don't believe it.
Like testing drivers and saying – F it, I'll just go taylormade, titleist and callaway.
Have you compared the Maxfli Tour balls with any of those top 4?
