Heritage Hall junior golfer Ben Lathrop wins 2025 OSSAA Class 4A state title
Here are The Oklahoman’s All-City boys golf first-team selections for the 2025 season.
Preston Albee, Choctaw
Class: Senior
The story: The OU signee placed second at the Class 6A state tournament at Forest Ridge in Broken Arrow after winning the title last year. Albee finished with an even-par 216 and had a stellar third round, shooting a 6-under 66. He had a 70 scoring average for the season, which was the third best in the state.
Tripp Anderson, OKC Storm
Class: Junior
The story: He had a great year for the OKC Storm, which doesn’t compete at state but won 8 of the 12 tournaments it competed in during the spring. Anderson had a scoring average of 71.2, which was seventh in the state and fourth among OKC-area golfers.
Kale Flinton, Edmond Memorial
Class: Senior
The story: The Central Missouri signee had a strong showing at the Class 6A state tournament. Flinton tied for third place at 2-over 218.
Golfer of the Year finalist: Chase Hughes, OKC Storm
Class: Freshman
The story: He had a 67.9 scoring average, the best in the state. Hughes won three tournaments and set a tournament scoring record at the Twisted 54 in Texas with a three-round total of 12-under 200.
Golfer of the Year finalist: Ben Lathrop, Heritage Hall
Class: Junior
The story: He won the Class 4A state title at Dornick Hills Golf & Country Club in Ardmore. Lathrop finished at 1-under 209 and tied the state tournament course record with a 6-under 64 in the second round. He finished the year with a 68.8 scoring average, which was second in the state.
Golfer of the Year finalist: Will Whorton, Community Christian
Class: Junior
The story: Whorton led Class 3A CCS to its third straight state championship and claimed his first individual title. He finished at 4-under 212 as he won by 12 strokes at Shangri-La in Afton.
Coach of the Year: Tosh Hays, Oklahoma Christian School
The story: Hays led OCS to the Class 4A state championship. The Saints defeated Cascia Hall, the 2024 Class 5A champion, by 17 shots and had three golfers place in the top 10.
