Rickie Fowler thoughts after Memorial Tournament 2025.

All right, Ricky, strong week and qualified for the open. What are the positives that you’ll take away from this week? Uh, well, I mean, we’re we’re heading the right way. Um, you know, this week still could have been a lot better, but um definite positive is is going over to Port Rush. So, um that’s that’s one I’ve I’ve wanted on the schedule. Had a great time when we were there uh the last and um had a decent showing as well. So, Lynx Golf is my favorite. Uh Port Rush is a great spot, so excited for that opportunity. How cognizant were you kind of on the last hole of what Brandt was at and that that was kind of the scenario for you needing to get up and down? Uh well, I knew I mean top 10 um that was obviously what I needed as far as um other guys, you know, I saw Brandt played well today. Um you know, not easy out there. So, um darn good route he put together. So, no, I didn’t know exactly. Um, obviously just trying to get it into the clubhouse as least amount of shots possible, but uh, this this place is tricky and um, like I said, left a lot out there. Should have could have played a lot better, but um, you know, still, you know, nice step in the right direction. Do you take some things away from this today to use tomorrow because you got a another big day? Yeah, long day tomorrow. Um yeah, hopefully we saved uh all the putts for tomorrow cuz nothing nothing went in or wanted to go in today. Um and that’s been something that’s, you know, been good as of late. Um hit a lot still hit a lot of really good putts. Just there was a lid on. So um yeah, I’m I’m excited for tomorrow. Um we went and drove the golf course earlier this this week. So um long day, but go play some solid golf and all should work out. Is it hard at all to stay in the present and like keep your mind from wandering forward just with how many how hard the scores can be or do you find it pretty easy and natural to stay in the present? Um it’s it’s tough at times. I mean cuz you know with position I’ve been in and you know not uh not having played well and and not being in you know these elevated events and having to you know hope and pray for for sponsor invites. So, I mean, you know, definitely very thankful to to Dan and, you know, Anne Neil with workday and and everyone involved with the tournament giving me the opportunity here. Um, and then not being in the majors. So, you are I am, you know, have been thinking about that at times, but you know, this place is is very demanding. So, once it comes time to hit a shot, um, you better have, you know, give it your full attention. This may not apply to you specifically, especially today, but how daunting is it when you see somebody like Scotty at the top of the leaderboard on a Sunday knowing he’s probably not going to make many mistakes? I mean, just what’s what does that add to the challenge of trying to to win a tournament? Uh, well, I mean, it’s it’s tough. You know, the position I was at at six back. Um, I was going to have to put together a really good round of golf. Um but yeah, I mean I would say just like you know Scotty’s obviously the the best there is right now, but um a lot of times when you’re six back, you’re never really expecting the guys to come backwards and then especially Scotty. Um, you know, he’s he’s someone that obviously has proven he’s he’s in very much control of his game and um, no, was was never in a a never had a thought of winning score being than than less than, you know, eight. Um, so I knew I was going to have to go out and, you know, play well early and at least get off to a good start and unfortunately couldn’t make anything. So, um, had to just work on getting it into the house with a few amount of strokes. Ricky, you mentioned that um couple of putts didn’t fall. How close do you feel like you are to that turning in the right direction? Uh well, I’ve put it well the last two weeks. Today was kind of the first one. Um you know, to not have, you know, really any fall at all. Um so it wasn’t like I hit bad putts. It was just I felt like I was in a lot of positions where um it either had most of the break early and then and then softened or, you know, had more at the hole. And I was I was just a little off on reads. Um like I said, I hit a lot of good putts. Um a lot were close, caught some lips. Um so yeah, hopefully saving them for qualifier tomorrow. How’s your overall confidence in the back of the season? Uh I mean it’s I’m in a lot better spot, you know, now versus, you know, earlier in the year or going into to where I was last year. Um, you know, we’ve been kind of, you know, fighting hard and and putting a lot of work in and trying to stay as patient as possible. Um, so starting to finally see some, you know, some good things and and, you know, that work start to pay off. So, I’m excited for, you know, tournaments heading up, you know, first and foremost tomorrow and see if we can, you know, go play some solid golf and go get ourselves a tea time at Oakmont and go from there. Thanks very much. Thank you. Good plan.

  1. The tour is scrambling for talent. In years gone by, his career would have been in jeopardy! Now a days if you are a fan favorite, talent is secondary. It has become boring and lacking in character. Over paid spoiled brats that built up in the media. If most people performed as poorly, at a minimum wage job, they would be gone.
