What a respplendant day it’s been here at Mount Juliet for round one of the OFX Irish Legends. And despite being one of the longest courses we play all year, there have been birdies and eagles of plenty. Amy, how impressed have you been by the standard of golf? Yeah, definitely. I think you know the conditions have been absolutely perfect today. Blue skies, it’s warm, there’s hardly a breath of wind, and it’s been great to see so many players take advantage of that today. They certainly have. It’s been a stunner with a stacked leaderboard. Let’s see the best of the action. There’s a three-way tie for third on five under par, including 1999 Open champion Paul Luri, who had one of only three bogey-free rounds today. The former Ryder Cup player picked up shots at all four par fives as well as the 15th. John Francois Ramsey had three birdies and two bogeies on the front line before coming alive on the way home, notching four birdies in a six-hole stretch from the 12th in his 67. Order of merit number one, Scott Hend completes the trio. The Aussie recovered well from a bogey at the first with six red numbers, including three on the bounce from the 13th. James Kingston is alone in second, following a 66. The 2022 order of merit winner birdied four of his first seven holes and finished in style with this brilliant birdie at the tough 18th. But Keith Horn leads the way with a fantastic 65. This towering seven iron into the 17th set up his second eagle of the day after he also knocked a four iron to two feet on the fifth. He added five birdies with a couple of twos at the short holes. Here’s what he had to say. Yeah, that was that was very enjoyable. I would give it an 8 out of 10, I would say. Yeah, a little bit of a wobble in the middle of the round. Otherwise, I hit the ball really well today. I have made a few changes and I’ve been working really hard on my golf swing today. Everything clicked in nicely, but it’s not 100% there. So, um, you know, I’ll just try and concentrate on the stuff I’ve been working on and try and get a little bit more grooved and see what happens tomorrow.
