David Peterson grew up in Colorado. He is pitching against his hometown team tonight. Coming off perhaps his most important start as a Met with seven and two thirds against the Dodgers when the Mets needed it the most. David’s good friend Kyle Freeland, who also grew up in Denver pitching for the Rockies tonight. He is the former number one draft pick for this ball club. Remember back in 2018, he won seven games for this rocky teams. Peterson and you can see the sparkling earned run average excellent walks only 22 and 58 innings. Ezekiel Tovar had been playing well lately since coming back from the injured list, but he strikes out on the changeup and has his first strike out of the night. Two men away. And Hunter Goodman right hand hitting catcher drives one out to Taylor ranging back gets there to Anderson has a 1 to 2 to 3 opening inning that will come to the bottom of the first kyle Freeland in his career. Tonight is his 12th started year. He’s pitched well against the batter, especially here at Citi field, four ballgames, three starts. He’s 1 to 1 but a 237 a and to your point overall and six ball , a three and three. Francisco just four for 25 on this home stand is batting average down to 269 gets under one deep left center back in the gap, goes back, back near the wall. Francisco leads off the bottom of the first inning with his 11th home run of the year. That’s his fifth leadoff home run this season. The Mets jump out to a quick 1 to 0 lead the last 24 games in which Liore hit a home run. The Mets have won the game. That’s the longest such streak in Mets history freely comes back with a strikeout of Vientos Alonzo to second base with his 30th extra base hit of the season. Alonzo at second with two down hereon Nimmo Nimmo back up the middle. Fortunately to that will end the inning. So Lido goes deep for the eighth time lead off the game in his Mets career 1 to 0 New York, a one out single will bring up Ryan Mcmahon, a guy who’s got power, he blew him away. High fastball. Peter got his second strikeout that will bring up kyle Farmer. Farmer hits a weak ground ball to, he gets forced that retires the side of the second 1 to 0. New York Tyrone Taylor coming up off the bat and you can see by the glare at Taylor he thought he had extra bases. Jordan Beck thought otherwise, maybe the surroundings here of city feel will get Michael to on track to this one of the gap in left center racing back and he gets there. Brandon has played such an outstanding left field this year. In fact, coming into the day, he is second among all major league left fielders in defensive runs saved and so back to back hits from the nine and one hitters and the Rockies have something working here in the third as he Tovar at Citi field, a robust 480 he struck him out, led to the curveball, bounced it. Tovar chased it and that’s what these Rockies will do. Third strikeout for Peterson two out in the inning and on four pitches, Goodman walks to load the bases. Tyro Estrada in just his second. Rocky at bat chance to impact this game. Early ball drilled caught by side, retired Peterson hung a curve. Estrada had a rope and shows off the hops to pull it down and keep the Rockies off the scoreboard. So here’s Leo who’s already hit five leadoff home runs this season that’s lined up the middle of base hit for Leo and he’s two for two. Francisco has been struggling at the plate as a home run and a hard hit single in his first two at bats tonight, two outs here is left, he wants soto and that’s ripped toward right center field. A base hit for SOTO. It goes all the way to the wall around third. He’s going to be SOTO pulls in at second base with an RB I double and the Mets have a 2 to 0 lead at 0 to 17 in the history books. As SOTO drives in his 26th run of the year. Brean Doyle, who has one of the three hits off. David Peterson leads off, swing and a Miss he gets Doyle who loses the at bat and the helmet. That’s the slider to the right handers. David needs to hone in on it’s unhittable and I hate to say that. No, why, but he’s not in the strike zone. Is Marte who fouled out his first time up is the 11, Marte slams this one deep left center field Doyle on the run. He looks up and is gone a powerful home run for Marte just to the left of that home run. Apple into the seats behind the party deck. Second met home run of the night. Marte’s third of the year and it is three nothing New York in the bottom of the fourth. Starling. Marte had been kind of starving for a little power and he hit it out. That was a bomb from Marte. Here is Tyler Freeman right hand batter, ground ball to the left side. Vientos let it go to al with a nice pick to retire freeman. That was awkward for Lindor because Vientos was kind of in his way. And Alonso did a nice job picking out of the dirt when that’s in between. Very good, Pete. Oh, outstanding. Working the bottom up. Well done. Not an easy pick. Markos will be next. Tough night continues. He struck out three times twice looking to freely top six. Ezekiel Tovar coming to the play , the two coming and he struck him out with a high fastball. Peterson strikes out Tovar for the third time. That’s five K’s for David who’s retired eight in a row and Estrada got hit by that pitch two outs. He’ll go to first for Brett Doyle. This is smoked into left field off the glove of vent. It will be a base hit for Doyle and now the tying run will come up and Ryan Mcmahon, he’s there doesn’t get the glove there score that a base set for Doyle. His second head of the game. Jeremy Hefner out to talk to Peterson will get one more batter with the left hand hitter Mcmahon coming up and Mac lines it to right. It’s going to get into that corner scoring. Easley’s Strata Doyle can fly. He’s going to get a stop sign for Gonzalez. It’s a run scoring double for Mcmahon. It’s 3 to 1 and that will be all for David. Peterson. Senon is coming in, they’re going to pitch hit Mickey Moniak for Kyle farmer and moniak flies one out to left. Nimmo Drifts silver makes the catch to retire the side two pitches and gets out of trouble 3 to 1 Mets in the sixth soto with base hits and back to back at bats. And the Mets have the leadoff man on in the sixth Alonso coming up and that hit up the third base side backhanded by Mcmahon throws his second for one on to first and got him at first base as well. Great turn by Tyro Estrada. See if the Mets might want to challenge a very close play at first base, but a great job by Mcmahon to start that double play. No challenge for the Mets as a ground ball hit the shortstop right there is to going to go to first base with a runner breaking and he makes the play work in the inning by Kyle Freeland 3 to 16. Sam Hilliard will pinch hit for Tyler Freeman. Hilliard was just recalled today. This ball is well hit to deep right field. Did he get it now? You bet. Welcome back. So Sam, it’s a one run game. How wonderful that must feel for Sam Hilliard. Tyrone Taylor will lead things off on the ground deep short. Tovar gets up. Can he throw him out? Are you kidding me? What a play by Tovar? I don’t know how he could bounce back up that quickly and make a strong of a throw as he did good stretch by to as well. Francisco Landor leads off in the bottom of the eighth. He set the tone tonight with a first inning home run and snacks one to deep left center field back in the gap goes Doyle Francisco with his second home run of the night. They call it in play, but it clearly went off the railing. That’s going to be a home run. They turned the lights off because it was a home run. The second base umpire called it in play. It was a home run the second of the night for Lindo and they’re going to have to go to review for this unless the umpires can figure it out on their own. Clearly hit the railway defense. That’s a home run. We see it all the time here because of the way the, the fence is configured if the ball comes off hard like that, you know that it hit the railing after the field was overturned. It is a home run the 21st multiple home run game of vendor’s career and the Mets get the insurance run they were looking for, they lead it 4 to 2/9 inning, 4 to 2. New York and Edwin Diaz who has been a perfect and save opportunities this year will bid for his 12th of the year. And Mcmahon foul tips the fastball for a strike 33 pitches , sit down one down in the ninth right now. Edwin Diaz is as locked in as he’s been since his historic year in 2022. Again, the 3 to 2 struck him out to the fastball on three and two back to back strikeouts for Diaz two men down Michael Old for three with a strikeout check swing. Did he go around? Yes, he did. Strike three. Couldn’t hall off at the fastball, put it in the books. And when Diaz strikes out the side in the ninth inning, the opposition is now zero for their last 30 against Diaz. He nails down his 12th save.

  1. Since a 14-12 win over AZ the Rockies have allowed 61 runs in 12 games; 27 of those were in a four-game reverse-sweep vs. the Phillies and 13 more in a blowout Yanks win. 21 runs in eight games is fantastic for Colorado (home or away.)

The problem? They've only scored 27 runs in those 12 games since. They can't get two or more hits back-to-back when they desperately need to push some runs home to save their lives. Hence the Arcia signing; of course he didn't play tonight in favor of two guys who went 0-for-4 w/ a strikeout. Makes perfect sense considering he had two hits yesterday. Can't have too much success can we?

  2. Great game Lindor is having a decent year, Alonso doing well at first base and Keith sees this in him from a former first baseman himself. Diaz doing well, thats nice to see. We should be destroying this team.

  3. This offense needs to finally get it going!!!! We are 13th in runs per game at 4.33. This offense has not been terrible, but it has been a little mediocre. The pitching has been EXCELLENT this year so far and keeping us in games. I do not want to have to depend on pitching all year.

  4. Soto did nothing against the second worst team White Sox, at least he's doing something against a 9-48 Rockies team.

  5. It hurts to see Kyle Freeland's record at 0-8, it has me missing the good times. Welcome to the lineup, Thairo Estrada. I'm intrigued to see how his time here goes. Good resiliency against some great pitchers tonight, and fielding was great. We just keep losing, though. Sell the team. Go Rockies💜🖤

  6. 6:09 baty most likely making this play. i know it's a tough play to make but if vientos nabs that, the inning ends and they don't get that run.

baty has proven he can make that play. he needs to be the everyday 3rd baseman. let Vientos DH for now and get more comfy at the plate.

either way, the lineup is best with both of them in it. just think Baty's defense has been elite and he deserves to be the guy manning that side of the infield at all times.

lfgm please sweep the fricken rockies

  7. 1:19 That's a true Mets fan out there catching Lindor's HR.
Pulled off the cap to use as a glove, only to miss catching the fly ball with his bare hands.

  8. ✅ Fact check
Yankees have 6 players with higher OPS, 5 with more RBI and 4 with more HR than Soto. 😢
    😂😂😂

  9. Soto finally gets a hit against the worst team in the history of baseball & people are on their knees for Soto 😂🤡
