ELBERTA, Ala. (WALA) – Golfers are putting their clubs to good use at the Soldiers Creek Golf Course in Elberta for the second annual charity tournament to help out the Dream Center of Baldwin County.
The center continues to positively impact kids in the Baldwin County area.
“We are so grateful for Soldier’s Creek and Blake who puts this on for us and helps us out. The Dream Center does such great work with the youth of our county as the mentoring program and the diversion program. All of these guys that are coming out and golfing, and the women that are coming out and golfing to support this cause,” Dream Center Director Joe Aldrete said.
DREAM stands for diversion, rehabilitation, education, advocacy, and mentorship. And the center provides support to kids using those principles.
And don’t just take it from me. We were able to catch up with a success story from the program.
“It was just like a mentor for me. It helped me through a lot more than I thought. It’s just really good guidance, and to know that you have family, even if you don’t feel like it. People are there to help you, and they just want to see you succeed. They just want to see you succeed and do good,” Anna Ingram said.
Golfers paid 125 dollars per person and 500 dollars per team. So all that money is going to a great cause to help people just like her.
“If anybody can get the opportunity to get into the dream center. Take that chance, honestly. You may not like it at first, but you have fun there. Everybody is loving. They’re caring. Everybody is family,” Ingram said.
If you weren’t able to attend, you can always donate to the dream center still donate directly to the Dream Center.
