I would go Kirkland for now and once you get a bit better/ depending on how seriously you want to get into golf then get fitted. A buddy of my just starting out got the Kirkland set and loves it. As someone that’s been playing 23 years I’ll say they are a pretty good set and great price

Bang for buck, KSig is solid. I have a 56 degree and it’s my go to wedge. I got it on Facebook marketplace for $20

  3. Ok-Twist6106

I’ve got the rtz (not rtx) and they’re brilliant, much prefer them to my vokeys

  4. Awkward-Collection78

In your shoes, probably the Kirklands, but the Clevelands are the best of the bunch.

You should also check out maltby milled max. They’re more forgiving and are similar prices to the Kirkland’s.

Are the Kirkland wedges back in stock? I’ve been checking and haven’t seen them.

    You don’t need a 60

Especially with that high of a handicap. It’ll hurt your scores

  7. Original_Release_419

I wouldn’t get pre owned wedges personally

Wedges already have a short enough shelf life and with pre owned you’ll be lucky to get more than half of that shelf life

    My vote is the Kirkland

What’s your pw loft? If it’s from a game improvement set you could have some gapping issues. If it’s near 44 the gap to a 52 degree is too big. You would probably suit a 48 and then play consistent gap between wedges like 48/54/60.

That said Cleveland makes great wedges. I think 58 bounce is bit high but of the options I’d trust them most.

Also my high/mid handicap friends are not always carrying a lw (58/60). It’s only really for steep bunkers or when you need to get over a hazard. Plus it’s a club that needs finesse, good ball striking and a few different shot types to be useful. Wouldn’t waste a slot in the bag personally and would see if could add a club at top of bag and play 2 wedges

Cleveland are the best by a good bit, If u can afford to spend the extra $40 over the Kirklands then 100% go for the RTXs

I’ve been playing for 40 years and chipping is the best part of my game by a mile. I have found that I just use a 56 for all my chipping unless it’s a bump and run or an alternative shot like that. I carried 4 wedges for way too many years. Just having the 56 has allowed me to not go for the super flop lob wedge WAY more than is called for. I do have a 52 for longer shots, but the 56 gets out of the sand nicely and I am surgical with it.

  11. With some practice you can definitely get some spin on them for the short game. I get compliments here and there when the ball checks and stops near the hole with my 60

The Cleveland’s. Most gw’s need to be 48°-50°. This old school 52° thing only works with 47°-48° blade lofts and most people play a set with a Pw averaging at 44°. Kirkland had to pick only 3 lofts to pass the savings to you but it means it’s limited. Plus they are all wide sole/high bounce. Not a lot of options on bounce and sole when that’s literally the most important part of a wedge. The sole make up.

Cleveland. I play 50, 54, and 58. They should suit. Callaway stole Roger Cleveland away but his philosophy is still there. I’ve even heard he still consults for them.

I play callaway Mac daddy CBs

  14. Frankie_Medallions

Dont order the stix they look like shit after a year or so of play and practice. Black gets all scratched up and the steel below looks like crap.

    Id go kirtland

  15. Kirkland until you get good also if you really wanted to be that guy you could use them and then return them

  16. yellowstag

I have two wedges besides my set pitching wedge. I have a high bounce 52 for fuller swing wedge shots. And a low bounce 56 for the finesse shots. Both of my wedges are c grind

  17. balloonerismthegreat

Get the rtx’s. Callaway makes incredible wedges. Kirklands I didn’t care for because I could not get a lot of spin out of them but that’s just me. Im either a vokey or callaway guy now.

  18. Low_Helicopter_3638

I’ve had 2 sets of Kirkland’s so far and just replaced the 52 for a Cleveland RTX6, 52deg.

    I hate it.

  19. kleinsmash22

Cleveland wedges are a tier above the rest.

  20. I have stix. They’re fine, but I would upgrade them if I could afford it. I’m doing my research now. There’s nothing wrong with them, definitely trusty around the green and I’m able to drop a 100 yd shot dead on the green with the 60. I’ve come to find a gap between pitching wedge and my 52 that I need to fill.

  21. SubRedTed

Get the cheaper ones and replace more often. I’m more of a fan of the 52-56-60 but that’s just me

  22. jreinsch99

I got the Lazarus wedges and honestly I love them. I’m around a similar handicap, so it’s never the clubs fault anyways.

  23. I have that Lazrus set and love them. I got the irons and three black wedges.

  24. TrizzyTre94

Get the Kirkland set. I bought mine in January and absolutely love them

  25. WindigoMac

It’s all subjective (obviously) but 50, 54, 58 is so much more enjoyable for me than when I had a 56 and 60 degree. 60 is the death club

  26. Slevinkellevra710

I bought the black lazarus because I wanted 50-54-58. I’ve only played one round, and they seemed to be spinny enough. My swing is not great right now, so there’s not a lot of data.
The black wont last, they will look like hell from random damage. I paid $450 for a set of Mizuno wedges about 3 years ago. Are they gonna feel as good, probably not. I think they’re gonna be fine for 1/3 of the price with 2 day shipping on Amazon.

  27. Thatdudeee240

Bombtech wedges are amazing for the price. I would rather buy a new 110$ set of three every year. I literally had pings at the begining of this season and already switched to Bombtechs after hitting my buddies…

  28. berttreynolds

RTX because they have better shafts and build quality than any of the rest of the

  29. I’m a 17 handicap and I use Cleveland cbxs for all my wedges. I personally love them. I saw a set of lazurs wedges at mardens as an internet salvage for 80$ and it contained the whole wedge set. Global golf, in my opinion, is a great way to get last seasons models in mint condition for tons of stuff. Anything below excellent is very hit or miss now

  30. SuitedBadge

Mizuno t23 or 24. 80-90 per club and are tear drop blade wedges. Very nice IMO better than all these

  31. No-Equivalent-9348

I am not a great golfer (20hcp), but I do have a pretty good short game. I have some Cleveland CBX zip core wedges (50, 56, 60) that I really enjoy. High toe, very forgiving, worth the price.

  32. Candid-Bullfrog9306

My coworker just got those exact Cleveland’s and he was hitting some insane shots with them yesterday. He says he loves them. I use extended clubs so they were a bit weird for me to use but they felt great off the face and had great spin. Similar to my Vokeys
