Hey guys, in today’s lesson video, I’m going to talk about the two biggest problems in the down swing that every single everyday golfer tries to do that’s killing their whole golf swing in general. And this is not going to allow them to create an effortless smooth golf swing. So, what I want to get at is is that when a everyday golfer or a beginner golfer looks at a really good golf swing, especially in in the down swing, there’s two things that really catches their eye for some reason. The first one is the professional golfer gets open at impact. They get open in the down swing. And the second thing that catches their eye is is their tour like pretty finished position. But the problem is that both of those positions opening up in the down swing with your body and the finish position is an outcome and it’s not something we chase. So if you try to get into those two movements, what happens is that instead of getting open at impact, we open up too soon and our hand path shoots out and we come steep and across. And if when they try to get into a really good tour like finish position, what happens is is that they don’t have the correct release motion, they and they rush the process and they just kind of lift the whole golf club up. So, the biggest myth that I want to break is is that if you don’t open up your body in the down swing and and if you don’t try to get the golf club to go back up to a finish position, you’ll hit the golf ball a lot better, a lot farther, and the golf swing will look a lot prettier and more aesthetic. So, let me get to my whole lesson. So, what I want you guys to do is from the top of your back swing position, just quick recap, the correct sequence of top of the back swing should always be body and then arms. So once we get to a good top of the back swing position, instead of trying to open up your body, what we want to do is from the top of your back swing, we want to shift our weight into our lead side. So if we shift our weight into our lead side, naturally because of gravity and the weight of the club head, the club will naturally just fall down to around halfway down. So shift your weight off towards the side without any of this twisting motion. So one more time, shift your lower body off towards the side without any of this type of twist or opening up of the body. So what you want to really focus on is is that when you shift your lower body and your whole body in general off towards the side into your lead foot, the key movement for the side view is is that our right pelvis at the top of our back swing is behind our left pelvis. So, what you want to do coming down is your right pelvis should remain behind your left pelvis when we’re shifting our weight into our lead side. That’s the key move right here. If we get into this position right here, then the gravity will not allow the club head to fall down. But if we get our right pelvis to stay behind the left pelvis while we’re shifting forward, then we’re going to get the golf club to fall right into the slot. Then from this position, now what we have to understand is that from this position, now we have to unload all the angles. So all the angles mean is is that when we go to the top of our back swing position, we fold our right arm and we and hinge our wrist. So there’s two angles that we have to focus on. The angle between our arm towards our elbow and the angle between our wrist and the golf club here. So these two angles in our right arm for a right-handed golfer should all go away towards the golf ball. Should all go away towards the golf ball. We’re not holding on to any of these angles and we’re not trying to get into a higher finish position. So, all we have to focus on is shift all your weight into your lead side with your trail hip, trail pelvis behind your left lead pelvis right here. And then unload all the angles. And I guarantee you, we’ll be in a much more picture perfect position. And without even trying to, we’re gonna get into a position where our body opens up. And if we add a little bit more speed, the golf club will fly to the finish position. So, let me show you one more time. What we want to do is trail hip behind our lead hip while we’re shifting off towards the side and then unload all the angles. So, it’s going to look something like this. And with this position right here, as you can see, I got all the way up to my finished position. My body opened up, but I didn’t physically try to. I think that’s the biggest key. So, I think the biggest thing we have to get out in today’s lesson is that shift off towards the side with your trail pelvis behind your lead pelvis. Get all your weight into your lead foot and then unload all the angles. Shift all your weight into your lead foot first and then unload all the angles in your trail arm and we’ll be in a much better position. And the last thing I want to add is that most golfers, everyday golfers think that if we just lower the golf club, the club is never going to come back up. But that’s not the case because the golf club and the golf swing is just like a clock. It works in this circular motion. So, even if I feel like I’m just letting out all the angles down here, because it moves like a clock or like one of those like roulette spinning things, what’s going to happen is is that if I push the clock down this way, if I push hard enough, it’s going to come back up. That’s why we don’t have to physically lift up the golf club back up. If we have enough speed and enough force coming down this way, it’s going to come back up no matter what. So, hopefully you guys enjoyed the lesson video. And for more inerson or online lessons, I’ll leave all the information in the description below. 2. This might be one of the great feel thoughts – trail pelvis behind lead pelvis.
Still doesn't help players who start with hands in downsizing. But controlling the trail pelvis might help in hands dropping vertically down than going out.
