Xander Schauffele has weighed in on the Rory McIlroy driver drama, offering his own take on how the PGA Tour should test drivers going forward after McIlroy’s club was deemed non-conforming prior to the PGA Championship.
Speaking at the Memorial Tournament, Schauffele gave insight into how he’d approach equipment testing to ensure fairness across the field – and protect players from unknowingly using illegal gear.

Short par 5’s are good but long par 3’s are not, drivable par 4’s? (based on the reporter question) par is irrelevant on a hole or an entire golf course. It’s only about total shots taken. Worries about the score in relation to par is silly, except for the egos of players.

I get it’s more exciting and cleaner for tv to talk about eagles and birdies but none of it means anything to the end result.

Easy answer – all players in top 10 have their drivers tested after the Majors and top 3 in other events. Anyone with a non conforming driver is DNQ – bad luck – stop pushing them to the limit to get an advantage.
Damn I love this guy
If Rory's driver is found to be non-conforming he should be stripped of his Master's win as well as the Grand Slam title. It's time to come clean guys. Using juiced clubs are no different than PED's.
