LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Michigan has always been known for having a number of great public golf courses and that is certainly evident in Golf Digest’s latest ranking of ‘America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses’.
Eight Michigan courses made the 2025-26 list:
No. 16 – Arcadia Bluffs
No. 37 – Forest Dunes Golf Club
No. 53 – Arcadia Bluffs South Course
No. 55 – Greywalls at Marquette Golf Club
No. 63 – The Loop: Black
No. 68 – The Loop: Red
No. 70 – Tullymore Golf Resort
No. 100 – Bay Harbor Links/Quarry
The biennial rankings are based off of tens of thousands of evaluations submitted by Golf Digest’s traveling course-ranking panelists.
The top 10 public courses in the country according to the rankings are listed below.
No. 1 – Pebble Beach Golf Links
No. 2 – Pacific Dunes
No. 3 – Shadow Creek
No. 4 – Whistling Straits: Straits Course
No. 5 – Kiawah Island Ocean Course
No. 6 – Pinehurst #2
No. 7 – Bethpage Black
No. 8 – TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course
No. 9 – Bandon Dunes
No. 10 – Erin Hills Golf Course
The article says many of the Top 100 public courses charge greens fees between $500-$1,000. Golf Digest says that is a downside to golf’s surging demand across the country.
