TaylorMade Have BLOWN CALLAWAY Away!? – NEW SPIDER ZT Putter!
We all know that putting is a game within a game and in 2005 putting seems to have got that little bit easier and dare I say simpler. Today I have a brand new zero torque putter on the market and it’s from the guys at Tailor Made. Now the first thing I have to say is I’ve seen pictures of this online but I haven’t actually seen the finished product yet. And the head cover looks absolutely gorgeous Chris doesn’t it? It does. For me, this is something which some of the brands get totally wrong and I think Tailor made have absolutely nailed it. You can see this is going to be a putter within their spider family and it is the ZT or the ZT depending where you’re from. But you can see a lovely little kind of blue color scheme there and you can see we have those lovely little kind of pure roll grooves as well. Let’s get this out the wrap and let’s see just how it performs and let’s see how it performs to say the brand new Odyssey Max and of course the putter that started it all, the Lab Golf putter. So for me, I think zero torque putters have a massive place in society today and in the golfing world. And I do happen to think they are making putting a little bit easier. Now, as looks go, I’d say that’s up there with one of the best looking zero torque putters that I have seen. And I do feel like some brands have potentially tried to rush certain clubs to the market in 2025 to keep up with the guys at Lab Golf because they’ve absolutely been smashing it together with a couple of other brands such as Axis One and so on. Now, you can see here that this is designed to stay on that kind of little axis there. And I think that does look fantastic. Now, if we come down to the ball here, the one thing that I think they’ve done really nicely is you don’t have to have that potential forward press here. You can see that grip is slightly set forward. So, that’s something that I think they’ve 100% taken on board from reviews from people such as myself, other online creators, and of course, you big your big people like Golf Digest and people like that. But how good can this potentially be in my hands? How good could it be in your hands? And most importantly, do you reckon it could sort Bobby out? No. No, I don’t think that’s going to happen. Is it? But uh we’ll put it to the test today. I’ve brought my lab putter with me as well to have a go. Right straight away. That felt fantastic. Soft. Really, really soft actually. Nice and soft. You can see we’ve got a bit of milling in there as well. Tailor Made Golf Company. They’ve gone back to bit the kind of old school method there. Lovely big weight on the bottom there. just to drag that CG down low in the head. You can see we’re using the Pix balls here today as well just to kind of gauge what kind of roll and feedback we do get. This is quite a difficult putt actually. Whenever we do put reviews on this channel, we always give ourselves a bit of a difficult one, but that felt really nice. I’ve under hit that one though. The line was perfect and I’ve under hit it. I must admit, first impressions on this, I don’t think it looks too big. big. I think it actually looks more like a normal putter than potentially some of the zero torque or low torque putters that you would see on the market at the moment. And I think as an overall product, I love the black shaft. I love the coloring on the head. And I think this could be a fantastic addition to a lot of people’s bags. That was a better put that finish behind the hole, didn’t it? Now, if we have a look at other potential brands that are doing this kind of zero torque, low torque method, you can see we have Odyssey square to square AI1 Max. So, this is um Do we just say it? It’s just a bit of a copy from the lab, isn’t it? A DF3. A DF3. Yeah. Um that certainly does a job. I don’t think it looks as good as the Tailor Made offering we’ve got here. And then, of course, we have the Lab Mez one, which I’ve been using, and I really, really enjoy this. I think the custom customization on it, the the dur not the durability, but whatever I’m trying to what am I trying to say there? I like it. I like it a lot. Very different looking. Three very different looking putters there. I want to have another couple of goes with this before we do try them out because I’m really really impressed by that. So, I like how we’ve got those kind of two forward weightings where with a weight in the heel and a weight in the toe there. And that’s obviously enhance MOI. And then shapewise, this is exactly the same size as the golf ball. So for alignment, this is probably one of the the one area that potentially you could say we’re lacking a little bit for alignment. We have that lovely aid on top there. We have that nice milling on top. I’d say from this angle here, that looks more like a Scotty Cameron than a tailor-made putter. And I think that’s quite a positive thing to say. As soon as we show the pure old technology there, that’s when you know what it is. You know it’s that tailor made putter. But for people who do that was always going to happen, wasn’t it? For people who do struggle with putting, I think all this family of putters that we’ve brought out with us could potentially be a fantastic addition. Could potentially be something that helps you lower your scores cuz all you really have to do is get the line right and get the pace right and it should start online a lot more often. Look at that roll. That really is Every time I’ve lined it up, it has actually done a lot better, hasn’t it? But that’s a gorgeous roll. I do think it simplifies it quite a lot as well. Funnily enough, putter videos for me. Never used to do that well. Oh, that one just stayed out to the right. But since the guys at the lab have introduced the Zero Talk and since the other big brands have kind of gone that way as well, people seem to be a lot more interested in it. So, if you are interested, guys, get in the comments below. Let us know what you think to this. Let us know what you think to the other putters we have here today as well, cuz we’re going to put them through the paces a little bit. But I must say that feels as good as anything. I think they’ve really took the time with that. And I think really I’m quite happy with the puts I’ve hit with it so far. Chris, have a go cuz you’re our putting expert, right? And then we’ll get some of the other big boys out and we’ll see just how potentially it can compare. You’ve had a couple of goes with zero tops in the past as well. What’s your Yeah, I think they really help a lot of golfers. So, if you’re getting into the game or even if you’re a a veteran of the game, I think it does take a a little bit out of it. So, again, you’re not trying to think, I need to arc it in. I’m not trying to rotate that face. Again, it’s very much a case of when we’re in the setup. And even with this grip now, we can just get that body turning back and turning through. There’s a lot less thought process going into it, which I think for a lot of people with putting, how many times you get over it and you overthink a putt, whereas this just gets us set. And the grip obviously for me is a big thing because we saw with the Callaway they didn’t didn’t really use the same kind of grip and it made it I’ll bring it in here to have a look because for me these two putters are both strong contenders in the market. I’ve really enjoyed using the lab so far this year and I think potentially the online fitting tool of the lab’s a really positive thing as well. But just to show the difference in those grips. See again if we can see we go obviously in the middle but we can see obviously the little bit of champing of the grip there which again allows it to have that forward press already set. We can see when we go to square to square it’s a round grip and for me as you look down on that golf ball you can see the white hot face unless you you actively add a forward press to that which is a little bit again you’re having to overthink potentially and then again with that tailor made there’s no sign of the face as you look down. So I think it’s something that Callaway obviously maybe slightly missed. I’ve seen obviously online that they might be bringing it out which I think would if you make the square squares again a little bit better. Big talking point obviously is always price point. That’s an interesting one as well though because when it comes to the the grip and not being out yet for me if you’re going to release that product you release it in its finished form. You don’t necessarily want to rush it. Do you think that feels as as good as what I did? Yeah, I was actually using a spider putter the other day and again it does feel as soft. It swings nice and again like you say down behind the golf ball. It does look like Scotty Cameron. Yeah, we actually said funnily enough on the channel a few months ago that we can see Tailor Made doing this and also see Scotty Cameron potentially bringing one out. We’ve not seen one yet, but I think that Zero torque market is huge for all golf brands. What a roll that is again by the way. That’s terrible camera work by the way. The holes there. It did go in. I missed the hole there with the camera work. It does feelastic. And again, for me, like I say, it just makes it a little bit easier for you to start the ball online. So, if you’re struggling with starting the ball online, then maybe go and look at a zero to put. Yeah. No, Bobby today as well. Bobby’s in New York on another holiday. Yeah. Funnily enough, not his last of the year either. Tell you what, he can’t miss. It’s not bad. This putter must be something in it. Oh, that’s done. That’s a really, really nice roll though on that picks all the way to the hole. So, if I was going to pick up now the Callaway square, the first first thing with the squared square for me is, is there such thing as a square to square putting stroke? You’ve worked on tour, you’ve worked with some of the best players in the world. Do you ever see a full square to square stroke or is it more a kind of has to have an arc because you’re moving around? It’s very much misinformation. So if you’re being told obviously the putter needs to work back square or straight back and straight through for example that it’s very difficult. So your putter is always going to have a little bit of an arc. But what it’s saying when it says square to square is that obviously the face is going to say square to that path. So we’re not going to have any rotation open. We’re not going to have any rotation close. It’s going to work on that arc. The putter is always going to have that little bit of an arc and this is where obviously these putters make that a little bit easier, but it’s mainly going to focus on that face not having as much rotation to keep the ball starting on. That’s really interesting. And for me, the amount of people that potentially might think, oh well, I’ve got the square to square putter, so I’m going to have to take this on a square backstroke and square through stroke already. I’m kind of struggling to line that up a little bit. I think a lot of people will like the look of this and I think for your kind of Odyssey fan, it can potentially work really nicely, but I do just struggle with the alignment on this and I do feel like having that grip where it’s a bit forward set would potentially help massively with that. This is certainly the length of put for me that all these zero or low torque putters do help on. But I certainly feel like if we were to come back to something like this, so the Lab Mez one, which for me, we actually spoke about how sharp it is. I caught my ankle with that the other day and honestly it absolutely killed. So you might have to wear kind of shin pads or something with it if you’re the guy who walks around wielding the putter around like a battle axe. Almost like Bobby when he’s trying to make a putting stroke. Yeah, very true. But I do feel like certainly for me, I think the money still could be in a position where these guys kind of had the technology, still have the technology, are still working on how they can make that technology work really well and better for you guys to help lower your scores. But I think the more putters on the market that can potentially do this, the better for everyone. Guys, if you’ve enjoyed that, smash that subscribe button below. Thank you so much for your time. Thank you to Chris. I haven’t seen you about 2 weeks, have I? No, you’ve been away. We’ve been away. But apart from that, guys, I’ll see you all at the same time tomorrow. Goodbye.

Anyone struggling with the odyssey should get the lab grip. That change alone made a world of difference.
Have hear from several people who use or have tried these type putter who have played for while and used more traditional putters ….that it caused them to line up a little to the left of where they thought they were aiming ….
That's the best looking putter in this zero torque range
Looks great.
This clown would tell you the suns black for 2 bob .
Every golf con mob brands have fell through this guys hands under the banner of “ amazing “ “ unbelievable “ .
Its more than obvious that Callaway did a "copycat" version of the LAB putter. I went from a SPIDER TOUR to the MEZZ MAXX, then to a SPIDER EX. I hate that plastic pure roll face, as I prefer a milled face, hence the EX. Might have to check this out tho, as soon as my local pro gets a couple in.
I just think its robbery to price a putter over 300 dollars.
In the end, its never the arrows, its always the indian. Putting practice mats are a better investment than a new 500 dollar putter. That was my option. Now my garage looks like a putting studio.
That is one awesome looking putter, well done Taylormade 👏👏, great review to match
It s good or not ???
That looks great, I’m going to have to try to get one 😊
I'm impressed they came out with a sweeper version. I use a Sweeper DF3 and I absolutely love it
Shiiiiiiit, I clicked on cause it looks like the steering control for an F1 car. @SkySportsF1. @ESPNF1
@IMSA. @GTWorld
Over priced. Don't like it. The fact that you cant customize the lie angle makes it almost useless.
I just picked up the Cobra Supernova… couldn’t be happier
Priced way wrong… $350-$375 you have a all time gem… $550 for a broom?? Yikes
It would be great to see all these on a revealer thought.
James,
I think a better comparison Callaway to the models you picked would be the Jailbird 0 Torque.
I have had a the same spider since 08. Fantastic putters. Idk if I buy into zero torque let alone the price point but I'd probably get the TM
Have they been sued by L.A.B Putter yet?
Got to be the best looking putter out there right now.
At least Taylormade didn’t do a complete rip off like Callaway
I will be definitely getting one of these seen one in my golf centre today tried it and loved it, sadly will have to wait till July for my birthday
My new years resolution was to not be bullied by the marketing hype and looks of new clubs. I was doing so well until the r7 quad was released, then i caved! Now TM do this to a putter… how do taylormade get the styling so good?!
Come on Chris, be strong… 🤔
Best looking putter in my eyes the Taylormade. Can’t say the same about Chris’ homeless person golf shoes
If I can remotely be able to use this I’m buying . That’s the best looking putter iv seen
Shaky recording. Wow.
For $450 I’d stick with the OG. If TM, Odyssey priced at $350 or less they would probably sell more
This would be my 4th Taylormade Spider putter. At $450+, I definitely have to test drive it first. Looks beautiful
This just validates how good LAB putters are
Odyssey Jailbird Cruiser 38 is the best putter I've ever used.
Nice Pepsi!
James to you plan your wardrobe to colour coordinate your shoes, shorts, top annddd hat with the putter? Next level commitment there folks😄🤘🏻🇦🇺
nice but 450 quid when the square to square is 249 they're taking the piss!
Nice looking putter, how does it feel
Love it that you smoked ol’ Shielsy…on the review of this!!
