Beginner here, my nearest range have this kind of mats.
I am able to put a tee in the mat but I cannot control height and tee is very heigh. There is no rubber tee available like in the other range that goes under the mat.

What would be the best way/tool to practice driver on such mats?

Is that real grass around it? If so put your tee there and just stand on the mat. If they say anything. Just ask politely if they have any mats with the rubber tees. But personally if I’m swinging my driver. I’d rather use my tees i use on the course over the rubber tees

You don’t. Just tee it up a foot or two in front of the mat or go behind if no one is near you on the range.

They suck for putting tees in. I’d tee it up on the side or get your rubber tees and adjust them as needed by cutting them. I like getting your own rubber tees if you are going to frequent this range.

If you can get a tee in the mat, but the tee is “very high” as you say. Get a shorter tee for the mats. You could also buy these, rubber tees for very hard ground or indoor practice.

I have the first ones, they work decent. I have no experience with either of the other two.

Put a tee in the crease between the thick turf and Matt u hit irons off of. Or break a t in halfish and twist it into the thin mat. I do it all the time.

  6. Amazon – simulator golf tees. You can get a bag for about $10

  7. stick a tee between the mat and the rest of the turf

  8. Typically these mats are thicker right around the edge. You will need the older, shorter tees but you should be able to get those in there.

  9. brokenSpokesnFlat

Make your own mat tees. Grab 20 or 30 wood tees and just cut them at a height that works for you. A utility knife works pretty good. Or if you wanna get crazy, you can put them in a vice and chop them off with a saw of some kind. Figure out how much you think you need to take off and cut them, and throw them in your bag.I have found that they also stick in these kind of mats better with flat bottoms versus the pointy bottoms anyway.

Or stick a utility knife in your bag, you can cut some while you’re at the range, as needed

Walk 5 feet forward. Place tee in grass. Hit drivers from in front of the mat.

You know a tee goes right in those mats.. just tee it up like normal and swing away…

  12. GoaheadAMAita

Some mats allow you you to use normal tees. A local simulator has a mat that can use tees on it

  13. I would just wedge a tee between the different types of fake turf

  14. NoMajorsarcasm

They sell simulater tees or you just become DOD king

  15. luv2playntn

You can probably slide a regular tee between the mat and the fake grass, then fire away!

  16. doubting_el_dandy_18

You just can’t hit off tees at some ranges.

At Bethpage, probably the largest golf complex in NYS, you can’t use a tee.

When a PGA event comes to town, they have to turn the 1st hole of the Yellow Course into the driving range for the pros.

  17. Mediocre_pylut

You put your tee in the little crevice on the edge of the two turf pieces… very simple.

  18. letsdothisagain52

Go buy rubber T and cut it down from the top

  19. Rogue_Ryder303

Put your tee in-between the Mat and the fake grass should be tight enough to hold it up.
