140 yards of chaos, the “shortest par-5” in Wisconsin resides at Erin Hills for the U.S.W.O. #golf
One of the caddies at the US Women’s Open told me toughest hole on the property is this hole. This tiny little 140 yard par three. They call it the shortest par five in the state because with a wind like this, the pros are actually really worried about this hole. It’s a diabolical green for sure, especially if the wind gets up. You look at this green. It’s really kind of like a volcano. You got to hit it into the mouth, right? That’s where the green is. Everything slopes off the sides of it into really tricky bunkers. This is the classic wind right now, left to right. So, I asked one caddyy, “How is your girl going to handle this?” And he says, “Well, she likes to hit fades, so this wind pretty much makes this hole impossible.” Which is kind of all you need to know. It’s going to be an a very interesting test. I wonder how many groups are going to be on the tea
Nelly Korda, Jeeno Thitikul, Lydia Ko, and the rest of the U.S. Women’s Open field will have to face the “shortest par–5” in Wisconsin, aka the par-3 9th hole at Erin Hills.
