Okay, let’s get to the FA Cup final. We don’t have the moving pictures of this, but we do need to discuss some of the decisions. Uh, first of all, let’s start with that in uh inverted commas. Ham from Dean Henderson. Jared Gilllet felt V uh felt that Erin Harland was uh going away from Jerry Gilllet was the one in V. But should it have been a red card? I thought it was a red card. I thought it was red card for a few reasons. Firstly, he’s deliberately handled the ball. Harland’s going towards goal. That that shows it. And they talk about the direction of the ball traveling. Well, it only traveled wide because Henderson actually slapped it away. So, I feel that if Henderson hadn’t slapped it here, Harland would have played the ball and he’s on a direct route to goal. So, I think he’s very, very lucky. It was quite clearly not from that angle, from the 18 yard box angle. You can see it’s quite clearly outside the area. Is that your assumption of it? So therefore, why didn’t V intervene? Well, they fed back that they felt uh the ball was going away from goal, that uh Harland’s travel was away from goal. But, you know, people see things differently. I think that pictures shows a different story. He is traveling and if Harland gets that ball first, which he’s entitled to because Henderson can’t go with his hands, which he’s done. I think if Harland gets that ball first, he’s passed Henderson. He’s clear on goal. He just roll it in the net. I think my biggest concern with this is is that it goes to V and you’ve got two people in the VI booth. How both of them don’t see it? How both of them can’t come to that conclusion of like Dermit says there that the ball’s being hit by Henderson. and it’s not being hit by Harland. If Hend Henderson doesn’t hit that ball, Harland takes it into the penalty area and probably towards the sixy boxish round that way. I I I I don’t understand how two people in the VIR booth can get it so horribly wrong. It was a really poor decision. Yeah, I totally agree. Really poor decision that’s had a a huge impact on the game as well. And the fact Yeah, everything that Dermit said there in terms of he’s outside the area, he hand balls it. It’s the reason the ball’s going away from goal is because he pushes the ball away from goal. Harland would have been in, you would suspect. Um, so yeah, it’s a it’s a definite red card and yeah, I have no idea how it’s not been it’s a really bad advert for V again. It doesn’t do V V any favors at all because what’s the point in it? What is the point in having V if you’re going to get that decision so horribly wrong? Because it’s easy, isn’t it, for the referee and and even the assistants to miss that because it’s happening so quickly. That’s where V has to pick up on that. 100%. I I I agree with there, Sue, because from where the referee was, Harland’s gone into challenge for that ball. He may well have felt that Harland had actually played that ball. 100%. I get that. But it’s a factual thing then, isn’t it? It is. It is. I think the other thing that was quite interesting, somebody said to me, “Well, Harland’s not in control of the ball.” The first thing is he’s got to be in control of the ball or able to control it. Well, he couldn’t be much closer to the ball. So, there were so many factors in Harland’s favor that I was really surprised. I think, you know, he’s got really, really lucky Henderson. Okay. What do they take away from this, Derma? Because if you’re Manchester City and you’re a supporter of Manchester City, I would suggest you’re what? Furious, upset. you can’t understand it. There’s the idea of um kind of oh it’s it’s Palace the underdog. We want to see a proper final. Do you buy any of that? No, it’s just um as I say I can only give my opinion and based on what I saw on Saturday based on you know the visual evidence in front of me and supported by my two colleagues that I just think he’s very very lucky to have stayed on the field. Can you understand though? Because I’m I’m trying to get I’m trying to get in the mindset of Jared Gilllet and V of why because the picture along the 18 yard box quite clearly shows it’s out. So it’s not like a close thing, is it? It’s Well, I think that’s a red herring anyway, Rob, because nobody’s disputing. Even the V isn’t disputing outside the penalty area because they fed back about the direction of Harland, the direction of the ball. So there’s there’s no dispute. It’s outside the box. It’s about is it gone from an obvious goal scoring opportunity to a possible as I as I say sometimes. But for me it’s an obvious goal scoring opportunity for the V. He felt it was a possible. I I think the thing as well is is that this V was bought in for moments like this in big games for games that are so high value. And I think there’ll be teams who were probably wanting Manchester City to win because of the European places. So they’re looking at that thinking, well, we’ve been done there. We’ve lost out on the potential of City scoring a goal and could possibly change the outcome of the game. And that was what it was bought in for was not to have these high-profile errors in big games. But people will be looking at that now thinking, we don’t want V. Fed up with it. Fed up with the decisions that we’re getting from V. We speak about it all the time. The percentage change in in bringing V compared to what it used to be. Is it really worth it? I mean, I know we’re going to come to other incidents in a minute, but it’s just it’s draining the game. The flip side is is if V wasn’t there, they’d be going, “Oh, you got to have V. You’ve got to have it, haven’t you?” And and but it was inevitable, wasn’t it? That Dean Henderson would go on to play a pivotal part in how the how the match ended up, really, wasn’t it? And going back to what you said about VR, V is great when it gives you the decision you want. It’s It’s not so great when it gives a decision you don’t want. Trying to remember when V gave a decision I wanted and I got lost somewhere. Uh right. Uh to the penalty decision this given for a foul on Bernardo Silva. Did Tyreek Mitchell actually get the ball? A referee gave it on field. I can understand why the referee gave it on field and I would say say the VR has no right to intervene because I think it’s a foul. I think he was right to give a penalty and I think V was right not to get involved. Happy with that? Yeah, happy enough. Yeah. Yeah. I thought it was a penalty. Yeah. And Palace did have a goal ruled out. Happy they came to the right decision on that one. Yeah. You only have to see one replay and it’s mainly S. The minute it strikes him, he’s an offside position. Uh Munoz reacts brilliantly know so quickly. He’s he’s in. But Sar is offside. There’s no doubt about it’s an offside position. It impacts because the ball strikes him. So the minute it strikes him, has to be ruled out. And this will be a perhaps a recurring thing this morning. Why did it take so long? Because you said as soon as you see it, you go, “Yeah, right. Move on.” Well, I saw the the replay and as I said, S was a clue for me. Strike S offside. Easy. Yeah. Yep. Imagine if it’s so easy and it takes six minutes to sort out. Oh, no. That’s a We’ll get to that one.

  1. Sick to death of seeing and hearing this all over the place we all know it's a sending off get rid off VAR that would stop all this rubbish every season this happens VAR has spoilt football.

  2. Even though it wouldn’t of made a difference on this play VAR Should only be used if the team challenges within 10 seconds and if they challenge and are wrong then they lose it. So tired of goals getting overturned because they’re a millimeter offsides. Often when the other team isn’t even claiming that they are offsides. You can’t even cheer for a goal anymore, you have to wait a few minutes because half the time it gets taken away

  3. You ask why two people in the VAR booth didn’t see it? Maybe if one of them wasn’t a former Crystal Palace youth player, they might have seen it!

  4. World respected cup competition . Why wasn’t there an on field review ?
But as a long suffering City fan ,it was heart warming to see what it meant to the Palace fans . – …..93:20!😎

  5. A week later from this, we are talking about poor refereeing that cost Aston Villa £100 million in a Champions League spot, I wonder what happens to referees and whether it's sufficient recourse

  6. I’ve against VAR since day one and I knew then that VAR would be a joke as its human making the decision but it’s also people or Refs and that are also trained to look at the game from the incorrect side, we all look at it from playing and watching, they are adjudicating as if they are the middle and thats how to look at it.

  7. Absolute worst case scenario is VAR gives a free kick out side the area where the contact takes place. Then a yellow and worst case scenario a red card. But the fact that a free kick wasn't given is just unbelievable. So a goalkeeper can handle the balm outside the box and isn't a foul

  8. That line about VAR being great when you get the decision you want.. yes.

But I just want VAR to enforce the correct decision. Whether it’s for against my club because that’s how fairness is supposed to work!

  9. All four people in this show every week are more protective of their job than risk stating a blatant truth. . The reality is VAR is controlling football and accept it .
Programmes like this make no difference what so ever.
