I’m a small time pro. So, here we go. Little match today at UNM North. Oh, he’s warmed up. That’s what happens when you show up, you know, like half an hour. It does help. Oh, man. All right. First swinging. Let’s see how long. He’s a working man these days, guys. Woo. Check out his place. Club 18 on Alama and Jefferson. Let’s have some fun right here. Let’s go. [Music] Should be fine. Close, but off the pole. Heard that. Is that too dangerous? I heard it hit a pole. Uh-oh. Should I hit a provisional? But I think you’re in. But yeah, you can hit a provisional. All right, there it is. Yeah, that’s better. All right, Dominoes, boys. All right, so this is going to work. You have to wake this up. Okay, I guess so. That usually don’t last a few nine holes. Really? I have an extra battery for it. A couple of them. You’re ready, man? I’m trying to. Dude, you’re ready. Trying to acquire, man. I’m trying to get things ready for this. When was the last time you played? Damn. In a minute. I know. probably last October. Yeah, you’re working, man. Especially through the winter here, dude. I’ve been It’s getting busier. Okay, you’re right on the edge here. There it is. Yeah. Yeah. Is it out? Yeah. Okay. Don’t worry. Don’t worry about it. I have a 98 yards. Woo! Little down wind. Little down wind. Let’s see if I can stop this. [Music] Uh, we can move him if you want. Okay. Oh, no. Kick left. Kick left. It’ll play. 89 yards. A little downwind. Sit. Sit. Dude, what’s going on? You know, just living the life, man. Dropped off the baby this morning with grandma. Get out and do this. That’s usually the Monday schedule. Aiden on the camera. Little high school helper here. Thank you, dude. On spring break. So Aiden, what high school you go to? Monzano. Oh, great touch. Yeah, good speed. Thank you. I’ll just finish that out. All right, I got my par putt here. I really want to make this. I mean, I lost the hole. Who cares? But still got to try. Got practice. I got to touch I got to learn the speed of the green. I got some pace to him. Okay, got it. All right, understood. One down. Rolling nice. Pretty good compared to most other places this time of year. I would have loved to have played this course when I was 18. That’s a long time ago, right? Cuz when I was before my time, was it 2000? From 2002, it was already on nine holes only. Uh-huh. Yeah. So, it’s got to be 90s, early 90s, right? Definitely. Way enough. I did 17 years of touring life. That’s way That’s a long time, man. That’s enough. I don’t want to enjoy family. How was that experience, man? like for you like I know you talked about it before but I mean not on camera maybe. How’s that life? Mhm. As a single man it’s a great life. Yeah. As a married man life. Horrible. Tough on the lady, tough on the kids. Everything cuz you’re away from home and Mhm. I mean you’re working granted and you’re trying to have fun at the same time but in the other hand your wife is having home alone raising kids doing it all. Traveling together was an option but then it’s just too much hassle. Yeah, it’s just a lot of moving parts. There’s I mean, you’re moving every week from hotel to hotel. It’s an interesting life. Even being in Japan, which isn’t probably the biggest country, but you’re still moving from city to city. It’s still a Yeah, because you’d be able to commute to a tournament maybe once or twice a year. I mean, yeah, a lot of tournaments are in a remote places. So, some awesome courses, man. All the covers that I’ve seen, you know, that’s pretty It’s the conditions of the course are just pristine over there. It’s they really wellkept. Uh-huh. And I know you’re talking touching on like how much the people love golf out there. Like the Japanese people just adore golf. Oh, the Asian culture. Whole Asian culture, not just Japan. Yeah. Korea. Oh, dude. Korea is huge. How have you ever seen a titleless shop? Titleless building? Mhm. like up or like a building like just dedicated for tideless from like fifth floor to first floor is all titless. Jeez. Like tideless clothing, titless accessory, titleless this, Scotty Carame like they have a building dedicated for titless tailor made all these brands everywhere. It It’s another level. It’s interesting. Uhhuh. Come on, wind. Help it out. That’s okay. Where’d it go? I think just left fringe. Just left fringe. Yeah. Swing, man. Right at it. Shot. Oh, man. Wind died. I was hoping that it hit. How you liking these puppies? They’re sweet, man. Dude, these are sweet clubs. Well, I can’t blame Mark Bronetti now for getting the weather forecast here. Does not feel like it’s going to touch 76 while we’re playing today. Don’t think so. Oh, a little thinner. Oh, you got away with it. You got away with it. Climb right up there. Saddle hit the hole. Oh, it did hit the cup. I’m coming. Holy moly. Coming. You want to go? I think it’s me by a hair pin there. I’m just saying I am one down though. I left a little more there than watching it. Oh, it went. Son of a gun. [Music] Oh man, it turned a ton. Yeah, good bar. Even what are those cigarettes called? They’re just the coolest looking cigarette I’ve ever seen. It’s a Korean. I mean, you could apply that to here, too. What’s up, essay? What’s up, Eser? [Music] the pool. The bigger the toa, the more I’mma do a second. Yeah, it’s called it’s Korean cigarettes. Okay. It’s skinnier. Mhm. Smoke less. Yeah. Why smoke more? Less calories. Kill me less. Get the flavor. Kill me less. No. I I don’t know why, but I I started to smoke this skinnier cigarettes when I got to Asia and then it just became Does everybody out there has that like Not everyone, but there’s there are more selections than here cigarettes. All right, here we go. Trying to find a flat surface possible. Turtle back here. All right. Should run out to the left a little from there. Oh, wow. Run, baby. It’s coming back. God, that worked out. That could have been a lot worse. You watching your three kids right now? Yeah. She working from home. How’d you meet your wife? Uh UN Oh, yeah. Freshman year. Is she from here or is she from here? Oh, she Yeah. Her mom used to own a Korean restaurant or the only Korean restaurant in town. And I just called in and reserved a time. Nice. Nice. The rest is history. Yep. They’ve been together 23 years. Yeah. That’s a long time. Damn, man. It was my foot to it at the same time. Bunker got in there. Oh, that’s a difficult shot from there. [ __ ] Got a little tree trouble here, Aiden. But I think it’s relatively doable. Kind of. Do not try this at home. God, nothing right. Advance and no injury. That’s that’s priority number one. Get [Music] down. Okay. All right. Button. Putting Oh, way too far out. Ah, man. I have to play safe. That’s all I know. Thought it’s going to kick a lot harder left. Stay up. Stay up. Stay up. Oh my goodness. I tried, man. I thought you just made that. Darn it. But you know what? I’m happy with that considering. Would be nice if one in. That is a very very very good putt there brother. Thank you. [Music] Is that too much? Jeez. Wow. Really didn’t think it’s going to roll off that much. Oh, that’s good. Oh, it broke. It broke my heart. Right. Oh, I hit it too hard for the line shot. Should be fine there. That should be fine there. Has a good paying job. Was that you, dude? When are you going to pick up your iron? It’s front back, front, middle, back. Last one is red. What? It’s a tell difference between 199 and 99. Yeah. If you’re a guy who shoots 150. Yeah. Mhm. Tiger Woods. Uh-huh. Maybe he’s so literal, man. You know, so literal that cuz it looked like it was a genuine. He was just like, did he look genuine to It looked pretty genuine, you know. To me, Tiger, he doesn’t want to like [ __ ] up. You know what I mean? He doesn’t want to Dude, I don’t know. To me, it felt like he knew what’s going on. Uh-huh. That half second pause or that that that pause was I don’t know. To me, just didn’t seem real. That behind you guys, too. 88 in a seven iron. A little fat. Might have got up there. Little short. Is it? It could be. [Music] Just barely. Oh, I just flighted too soft. Little short, too. Just below it. Clubbed up. Roll out. So, so Jay, you see this right here? This is amazing. All of this area right here is incredible. I can’t believe that we’re lucky enough to be alive at the same time as this. Nice job, man. Thank you. Thank you. Had to happen somewhere. Thank you. Okay. I got lucky with that chip shot there. Yeah, that was nice. Oh no. Out of here. Stay here. What would that be? What’s over there? I think it opens up. I’ve never been there, so I’ll go find it. There you go. Right. Right. Yeah. Tree. Big tree there. Yeah. I didn’t come back. You know, most amateurs would take your game though every day, Jay. Even though I wish stay sharpened now 135 yards I got a little 49°ree wedge pin should be back right from middle back down. Yeah. So if you guys don’t know Jay is he’s a former Lobo and then what did you do? What were kind of your accolades? I know you tore it up in your college years there. I was all American, Mountain West champions, conference champ, individual and team. Team four times, individual ones. Yeah. Awesome. Uh played in US Open after then majority of my pro career was in Asia in Japan mainly. Mhm. And just travel around out of J Asia. Uh Japan to go to Korea. Okay. Asian tour. And Uhhuh. It was fun. Then as I was folding, as I was quitting, Liv popped up. I was like, “Darn it, I should have stayed a little longer.” Uh-huh. But then I was like, “No.” Yeah. I have a 80-year-old and a three-year-old at home. So, yeah, they’re pretty important. Very, very, very important. All right, let’s see if I could hit a decent one out of this BS lie. It’s the right line. Look good, man. Good shot. All right. I hope I hope it was enough. Trying to catch a little thin and run it. Thank you. So, a low turner. I got 113 men’s helping felt like [Music] Seriously heavy. No bueno. No bueno. No bueno. I’m worn up. Unacceptable on my part. Hit a green at some point here. Leave it at 40 yard short fresher. Great initial bounce. Really? Yes. Titus. Oh, yeah. I go right. Well, that that’s a lot better. Oh, I thought it mine popped up there. Got to make this for par. Is this okay, sir? Or does that bother you? Okay, I’ll move it a little. I’ll move it a little. There you go. Yeah, it’s a great course. A didn’t hit the line. What? What is this green? Is it still What is this downhill going this way? Yeah, that’s I wish I’d come over here, man. Play it enough that I should know. I don’t play much enough. Who cares? Hold it. You should have God. Just killed it, too. [Music] Terrible. Put me down. Easy. Good putt. Thank you. You don’t have to get this, Aiden. Gosh. Oh, why not? Thank you. It’s a good one, too. Good shape. It’s always good. Free $5 golf ball. Yep. It’s almost six now, man. God, it’s it’s insane. Hole six. Mhm. Oh, to the side. To the side. Always got to be reminded. All right. Two up. Just got to give me the stiff arm there, Jane. Two up. Try to keep a little bit lower. [Music] There you go. Down in the middle. There you go. I wanted to give a little kiss to the ball to the leaf. Oh, I just got the branch completely. Lost it. I just clip a tree and I lost it after. Yeah, I think it might have stayed right. Might be throwing me after this one. Got my work cut out for me. Which way you going? I think I’m going to go left. All right. [Music] Oh my lord. No bueno. No bueno. Good. Bounce. What? Still hopped up there. Yeah. What was that bounce? That was kind of wicked. It was weird. I was tracking right at it. Nippy sit. Oh, come down. Come down. Come down. No. Wow. The hopper. [Music] [Music] Settle. Sit. Just not stopping that one. There’s a brutal green. Holy moly. What a pin placement. Oh man, that’s good. All right. That didn’t get there. Wow. All right, it’s official. It’s got me dormy. Dormy. Got some work to do. Big work to do here. Big D. [Music] So, how many US Opens did you play in? One. One. Where was it at? Tory Pines. Oh, nice. That’s the one Tiger last. Yeah. 2008. Tiger last. Was it in 2008? Yeah. Sick, man. I think we had the most Lobos playing in that. I think we had like six or seven. Really? That many Lobos play. Me, Belgian, Spencer, Ledick, Doc, Leel, maybe Ken Jones. There was like six or seven of us playing David. So, we took a photo together. It was whole team. Like, it was pretty cool. That’s awesome. That was so iconic, man. I remember watching that, man. However old I was, like a teenager or something. Yeah. 2008. Our team was pretty crazy. Our team 2002 to 6 was pretty crazy. I think we had one year out of 10 events, 11 events. I think we won six of them. Don’t hold me to that one. I think we won more than 50% of the event we played. Dang as a team or strong. Mountain West then. It was Mountain West. Mountain West. Yeah. Aren’t we still Mountain West? Yeah. Cuz I remember Well, I guess. Yeah. Pack. No, it was the whack before that. It was a few years before I came in. Mhm. Baseball. So, yeah. So, it’s kind of like that like base. So, I like Dodgers. I like I grew up in LA. So, yeah. Just just by trade, you just grew up in LA. But I’m not like a dieh hard LA fan. Yeah. Per se. I lost it in the clouds right at the pan. Oh yeah, I saw it bounce. That was pretty [ __ ] comment, huh? Oh, do you see a ball? Right. Right at the hole. Hell no, dude. Right at the pin. Play your ball. Play your ball. [Music] Stay right. Decent. Stay right. We’ll see. I was challenged to a match by a local pro. We’re on it right now. It’s going down. Although he’s got me dormy, man, right now. So, three up, three to go. Release. Go, go, go, go, go. It’s okay. Can live with that. Really need this hole here. Thank you. Pretty good there. Yeah, not [Music] bad. Lovely. Lovely. Game set match. Y’all mark that. Heck no, man. It’s as real as it gets. I would have had it had some meaning, Jay, but it didn’t. Trying to finish with the style didn’t work. Nearly. Thank you, man. Good stuff, man. Good to get out here, dude. Well, it didn’t go so great for me, but that’s okay. First of many. And uh stay tuned for some more.
