What’s up people of golf! What a cool opportunity Marissa and I had to go out to Erin Hills and play the same setup as the girls next week. Thank you so much to Erin Hills, NBC, & golf channel for letting us test out the track. The course is absolutely immaculate & if anyone has a chance to play some golf at Erin Hills, I highly suggest it, I was shocked to hear that it was a public course! 🙂

Wind outdoors is always a challenge. I'm not familiar with the equipment you use, but I can share some basics to help you along. First, good windscreens and second, close micing as much as you can. You might even look into headset/over the ear type microphones that preachers and ted talk people use. Mic placement is key, and really about the worst audio reproduction you can have is via 'lapel' type mics. On days like this one, turn the camera microphone off. But, If you want to use it, try a good shotgun mic with an industrial type windscreen. Here's an idea—while recording video, try having your mic into left channel and Marissa's mic into the right channel. That way, if you're teeing off and Marissa is turned into the wind, you can just take audio from your mic to send to post. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I work with a lot of people at events that go into broadcast settings.
