I liked the original Kirkland ball. Stil have about 7 dozen left.
Excellent video. I’ve played both balls and the sams club ball was night and day better across the board for me (2 handicap). Distance, spin and feel were all significantly better imo
Great video. I've been playing the members mark ball for a few rounds now. No complaints other than it does have less spin at times. I've always had issues with the Costco balls. I'd love to see you put the legato against the Sam's.
I have tried both on my channel. Highly prefer the MM ball…if it had a bit less "gaudy" logo on it I would have nothing negative at all to say about it!
I’ve been playing the Costco ball since they came out yrs ago. I found a Members Mark ball a few weeks ago. Look forward to trying it out.
Never have been thrilled with the Costco balls
I’ve been gaming the members mark ball. I can say with confidence that I can shank them into the woods every bit as good as I can a prov1.
Costco ball is a very spinny golf ball, so if you want more spin, like for your irons spin, then play Costco. Both balls are 3-piece. I like the Maxfli X sold by Dicks and Golf Galaxy. It is a 4-piece ball like the Pro V X by Titleist. You still can get a deal on the Maxfli at Dicks. If you are hoping to get a Hole in One, play Callaway, Tailormade and not Titleist, because the new Titleist Bag Tag sucks! I know, I have one from last October, it is wood now instead of metal like the old one. TaylorMade has a great Tag for Aces, and Callaway gives a great plaque for an ace. Also, a shout-out to Costco golf gloves as they are some of the best, regardless of price.
This is the 3rd year using the Costco ball. I have used both version 2 and 3. Before that I used the Taylormade Tour Response. I lose about 6 dozen balls a year so that's why I tried the Kirkland ball. I found it gave me similar performance as the Taylormade did. I have a slow swing speed 85ish mph with driver (67 years old with a bad heart). I love the feel of the Kirkland ball off all my clubs. Around the green my chipping is very consistent in stopping force when I hit it correctly. Putting is great. I haven't experienced the wear that you have. I actually kept one ball for 24 holes and didn't see any major scuffing. Since I don't have a Costco in my area, closest to my is 100 miles away so I have to buy online. The Sam's club ball sounds interesting one reason is there is one 3 miles from my house. I will be trying them out sometime this summer. So far this year (4th) after 3 rounds of golf only lost 2 balls. I'm getting better.
NEITHER – Maxfli makes a TOUR QUALITY ball Costco ball spins like CRAZY
I’ve tried both and prefer the MM, plus I have a Sam’s Club in town, but not a Costco. Makes it easier and cheaper to get balls.
Legato dropped to $20/dozen today 🎉
Went out and bought a box of MM golf balls today. Going to test them head to head vs the older Kirkland golf balls I haven't lost (yet)…
As far as the data goes, they are practically identical. It’s a matter of which one you prefer personally.
Looks like it was an off day for you, could have sworn you were typically more in the 100-103 range for SS and 145-50 range for BS?
went new everything this year 9 Handicap 60 years old
Taylormade Qi10 Max Driver 9 degree
Qi35 Max 3 , 5 , 9 woods
Qi35 Max 3 Hybrid
Qi10 Max 4 and 5 Hybrids

Cobra Snake Bite 56 degree wedge
Taylormade Spider Tour Counter Balance 35 inch putter
Black Ping DLX Cart Bag , Vice Pro Air Neon Drip Balls , PXG Tour Extreme yellow Balls , and Truvis Callaway yellow balls love all 3 balls
LOVING all of them
CHEERS ALL
Great assessment, Gabe! I have both balls in my golf bag and while I don't have all the numbers to back it up, I feel like I got about the same results. I actually thought the MM ball checked up more for me around the greens then Kirkland.
Wearing a Buc-ees hat diminishes your credibility.
I'd be elated if you tested Lazrus balls against the Legato. Or any Lazrus product for that matter!
Like the Buc-ee’s cap.
How’s the feel for putting? Which one do you prefer?
you really should work on loosening your wrists up, your swing speed seems low for how hard you are swinging. My 7 iron SS is around 94, and driver around 117 and I'm not swinging near what I could max at. Watch some Paul Wilson videos for some tips. Costco red stripes are really good, look at the spin on driver, almost even, yet 1000 more on a wedge, you're going to hold more greens. Really quality balls by Costco.
Recently switched to the Sam's ball from the Costco ball. I like it much better. The Kirkland is harder and provides less control IMO. This current Sam's ball is hitting all the marks for me. Thanks for sharing. Where is that course BTW? It didn't look familiar. Playing tomorrow at Link of Sandpiper in Lakeland FL.
Need this same test with members mark against your legato gamer ball now
Just started playing the Members Mark ball from Sam's. It is great, soft and durable. It spins and checks up great. I beat this ball to death nearly a full round. It never scuffed. I just got a new set of Takomo 101 Irons and just regooved my wedges.
Excellent and thorough review. The only thing I would wonder about that might be hard to test is manufacturing consistency. Is there any risk in getting a batch of "bad" balls when you go with warehouse brands?
I've bought and played with both and I agree Sam's club ball is the better ball !
Nice test! As for compression, you really need to compare balls on the course because there is no industry standard way to measure compression. So the "around 90" is really as good as any other number since the number itself isn't directly comparable.
