There you go, liked and subscribed. I've just got swapped my 3 wood for a Cleveland Halo XL 7 wood and the it goes around the same distance for me. My swing speed is fairly low and always had the problem with the 3 off the deck to get any distance, or get it straight. Every shot with the 7 has been straight or with a slight draw, so I'm a happy bunny. Cheers!
Added 7 wood this year. Took 3 and 4 hybrids out of my bag. I'm 67 and it's made a huge difference. I can reach par 4's and 5's in regs and lowered my handicap from 15.4 at the beginning of the season to 14.1. Amazing club!!
Been carrying a 7w for over 20 yrs.Money!
When I first started to play it was Callaway Steelhead 3, 5, 7….no Driver
Now I carry Driver, 3H (17degree) and 4H (21degree). IF I hit my 3W it really doesnt go much farther than my 3H, rather sacrifice 15 yards for a straighter and I cannot hit a 3W off the fairway
At times I will swap out my 3D and 4H for 5W&7W or just different hybrids because as we all know it the clubs not the guy
My dad was famous for his 7 wood in woodbrook golf club, won the captains prize in his first year playing and his 7 wood broke many hearts.
It depends on your swing speed, conditions where you play (wind) and iron lofts. Some new 4 irons have 19 loft, which is 1 weaker than a traditional 2 iron. Summary: lower swing speed = higher lofted clubs.
Thanks for the advise. I have one question. I carry a 3 hybrid nd a 4 hybrid. If I get 7 wood, it will hav same loft as 4 hybrid. So how will the 7 wood over power the 4 hybrid. And if I carry a 3 hybrid, do I need a 7 wood?
Excellent advice young Lad
thank you got a 7 and getting to like it.
Why not a 5 wood off the tee? Then a 7 wood.
95% of golfers would be better suited ditching their longest iron for either a 7W or a hybrid.
Great video!
Are you able to recommend a particular brand of 7 wood?
I carry 170 yards (average, not best) with my driver. And I have 3 holes in my home course, where I will have to carry 155-160 to cross water. And on the longest par 5 from the back tee, the fairway is 180 yards. I am 58 yrs, 5'4" slightly built Indian. I don't see how I can NOT use my driver.
This advice seems contrary to Danny Maude’s full swing. What am I missing?
I've played the 7 and 9 wood for a long time
Yout thoughts on the Ping 4 Crossover please.
OMG. please…not another wannabe golf instructor. please, do what you do.
Confusing part is I recently watched a video comparing a Driver vs FW wood. Its data showed the dispersion pattern for each was almost identical; thus, negating the idea of the FW wood being the more accurate, given you lost distance with the Wood compared to the Driver. So, as in all things “internet” which data do you trust more?
For the curious, I personally tee off with my 5wood (which I have supreme confidence with both off the tee and the turf.) And I keep up fine with my golf buddy who always tees off with his driver. Also, so enjoyable out-driving others with my twenty year old (V-Steel) fairway wood.
Driver loft is the problem not the club. If people played with a higher lofted driver they will get similar results to what you are suggesting but won't give up 35 yards.
ive got one but in the fairway it doesnt go far…
Cant hit a 7 wood for my life😅..
Is this better than a hybri
My driver left my bag last year. I drive with my faiway wood or my 3h. Much better. But I am a solid 85 and it really didn't help my score. But much less frustrating. The driver was just not repeatable off the tee. The replacements were. 10 to 20 more yards from my driver didn't enter into it. I'd try the 7W if I could get a loaner. Otherwise I'm good where I am.
I added a 7-wood this past season. It’s been a great fairway finder for me. Earlier in the season I lost my with my driver. It was erratic and I was scoring pretty poorly simply because I was losing balls and taking drops. I made the switch to go either 3-wood or 7-wood off the tee and consistently found 85-88. Toward the tail end of the season my driver came back around. Well, I coupled that with the 7-wood from the fairway and was in business.
If i played a driver 235 i would be breaking 80.
This game is so mental maybe even sentimental at 72 I do not need 14 clubs
But after playing since mid 90s there is a lot of history for example I once hit a perfect 4 iron lol
I have a G430 7 wood and I really like it, use it a lot .
You are spot on about the 7 wood. It is a great club. I have been using the 7 wood for over 30 years, although not the same one. Another of your recommendations that is worth repeating is to up-grade your gear with new grips. I tried out some Lamkin – Cross Line grips
that are oversized, but they aren't all that big, but are rather just the right size for my hands. Confidence, Control and Comfort makes all club perform better. Up-grading grips is an easy, but it makes a huge improvement in your game. Thanks for the advice.
I could always hit driver straight worst club for me was rescue,s off the deck 5 and 7 woods great off deck 😊
Golf is a romantic game if you are an intelligent man. Over the years in life you pick up clubs in weird places. This mystical set of clubs clinks and clanks in the bag as you trundle along
So the clubs are valuable whether you play them well or not
I have a ping anser putter from.90s and a black dot ping lw 60 . The putter is berillium copper and the wedge is steel silver found in a proshop bin
They were never meant to be together but i will never separate them
Manage the course by playing clubs that will allow you to play from the grass as often as possible; be in play. Whatever works for you is best. Woods never looks into another golfers bag. If it take 14 clubs for you then do it, or if you can break 90 with 7-8 clubs then get with it. Remember 70% of golfers cannot for that. And do not fall victim to the marketing idea that you must have all of one brand in the mix. Play what works for you on an average and ignore anything but what works! Remember that 70 years ago those who won tournaments used flat bladed irons and wedges, and wooden headed clubs with wooden shafts! They played what they owned and had to do just like we do; they had to master what was in the bag, always. Forget that last hole and focus on the one you are attacking. Consider this, on average if you bogey 17 holes on a 72 par course and par one, you can shoot an 89! You could win money from the other 70% of duffers out there!
My 22 degree Adams V4 hybrid #4 is my go to club… dead straight, 170 to 200 yards and you can hit it out of *anywhere*.
I find the shaft on the 7 wood is too long.
A putter surely is the club you need 😂
Got a ping g430 7 wood and yep. It's good
Qi10 7 wood here
