I’m comparing these three irons because they just have that little bit more lift and that little bit more spin for a little bit more control into the [Music] greens. And that is the PXG 0317 CB cavity back and the Callaway Apex CB cavity back. Then I’ve got the Shrien ZXi5. So the ZXI5 is just a slightly chunkier, slightly wider sole club, but it’s got similar sort of behavior to these other two clubs. We just get that little bit more spin. When you go ZXi4, it goes lower and it goes further. So I’m just trying to see how that sort of thing compares to the other two. Now, the first thing I want to do is look at them at the top edge. So thickness-wise, we’re fairly similar. Like, so this one here probably looks the thinnest, and that’s the Callaway. And then the one in the middle is the PXG. And then when we go to the Shrixen, it’s not that much bigger on that top edge. It doesn’t look an awful lot chunkier when it sits behind the ball, but it’s just got a little bit more meat at the bottom. I’ve got all three clubs in the same shaft, and that is the dynamic gold mid 115 S300. And let’s see how they go. I’ll kick things off with the PXG. We’ve got quite a small head design. Fairly thin sole on it. We’ve got a little bit of meat here on the toe and the heel. The more cavity there is in a club, the more weight we’ve got at the bottom of the club, the higher the ball launch with lower spin. You can of course manipulate that with the shaft and the golf ball type as well if you need higher and lower. But generally, we just get that little bit more height, that little bit more stop into the greens. And when we’ve got a bit more weight on the toe and the heel here, when we hit it off center and the club deflects, we’ve got a bit more mass to reduce that deflection. Now, this is a solid piece of metal. It’s got a weight in the back there, but there’s nothing there’s no hollow head construction or anything like thinner in the face to help it go faster. It’s just a nice solid bit of metal. And apparently it’s three times forged. Let’s grab a golf ball. Let’s grab a Z star diamond. There we go. And it is a nice solid feeling head. It does feel a lot more forgiving than it says on the tin. And when I look at something on the ground that’s a little bit smaller, it kind of makes me concentrate a little bit more. Nice healthy spin rate. Oh, it’s just got there. I did drop kick it a little bit. Very nicely done. So, I’ll get three decent shots with each club. That’ll do. Nice. Not bad. Not bad. They do feel good. Let’s go into the Callaway CB. We’ve got this pad on the back here. Similar sort of idea to what the PXG’s got with the round dot, but just in their own way. You can get different weights for this as well. In the PXG, you can get different weights as well. With the Shrixen, we don’t have any adjustability like that, but not many people actually change it, but it is something that’s there. We’ve got a bit of meat across the bottom here. So, we’ve got a bit of help at the bottom of the club. Where this weight is, it kind of if this is lighter and not as dense as this outside bit, we’ve got a bit more weight on the heel and toe. I don’t know whether that is or not, but it will do something. A little bit more slappy. Same sort of launch. Oh, not as clean off the face so far. There we go. H definitely shy. Not as easy. One thing I didn’t do was put a dot on this face just so the launch monitor can track angle of attack, path, and all that stuff. Let’s just get a couple with that on. Nice. Oo, it’s not as long. Not that distance is everything. These aren’t distance bats. These aren’t designed to go further. They’re designed to get up, get down, and stay when they land. Wow, that was awful. Oh, it does lose so much when I mistrike it. Okay, surprised at that. Okay, ZXi5, that was so much easier. It is a bigger head. It is a bigger cavity. And in the ZXI5 compared to last year’s version, the new version just has a little bit of extra meat in here. So that tungsten weight in there, 7 and above, is just a bit more mass to help that deflection. So it doesn’t deflect as much. It kind of like maintains a bit more maintains a bit more distance and direction. Yeah, this is definitely easier than the other two, but I would say like the cavity is is helping that it is just a little bit more meaty, but without being like unclean and tidy. Like it still looks really good behind the ball. Oh, little mistrike. Bit of a lazy swing. Can’t really argue with that. I just want to throw in a couple of balls with the ZXI7, which is a slightly smaller cavity than the five, just because it’s maybe a bit closer in like cavity, and maybe a bit closer in like width of sole compared to like the PXG and the Callaway. So, maybe a slightly fairer test, but I generally would go to the ZXO5 if I do want to help someone get a bit more spin and do want to help someone get a bit more control. Maybe slightly more solid feeling than the ZX5. I’m a little bit more familiar with the seven to be fair. Drop and stop. Not the best swing, but no complaints there. Yeah, same spot. Let’s have a look at the data. So, I hit quite a few colorways and the early ones didn’t have the thing on it, but we got a couple of scrappy ones to get out of there. ZXI5. No real complaints. I had one that went miles left. 28 yds left. Let’s get you out. PXG wise add a little bit of variance. I’ve gone 20 yards left on that one. ZXI7, same thing twice. Okay, so Callaway peak height 115 115 ft and then 121 with the ZXI5 and then 114 with the PXG. So PXG and Callaway same height and then 114 again with the ZXI7. So maybe a bit more comparable in terms of height there. Angle of descent 49 49 a half ZX7 to PXGCB 50° so a little bit steeper in the ZX i5 and it’s getting a slightly higher peak height as well. Uh 49.9 much the same in the colorway apex. So we’re getting the same sort of like control into the green with each one. Let’s just compare. So my numbers were I’ve got less bounce off the face. So less rebound on the face on the PXG which was consistent with the other test that I did with it. I’ve got a bit more rebound on the five and the Apex CB. Not quite as much on the ZXI7. My speed was faster with the PXG. ZXI7 about the same, just a tiny bit slower in the Callaway and the ZedXi5. Path is all about the same. PXG I got a bit more into out. 56 down, six down, five down, 54 down. So, all within a degree there in terms of angle of attack. I’ve got more ball speed in the ZXI5. lowest ball speed in the PXG. So the PXG is not hot off the face in the CB, but that’s because it gets a nice healthy amount of spin and we do get quite a tight dispersion. It is a little bit shy. So the PXG and the Callaway are about the same in Cali in carry 177 against 177. ZXI7 and ZXi5, I just get that little bit more. Spin rate wise, I’ve got the most spin on the Callaway Apex. So again, if you need spin, you’re going to get it there. We’re nice and healthy in the ZXI7, a little bit lower in the ZXI5. So, it’s not as spinny as these other heads. Dispersion rings there. The best one up there is the blue, which is ZXi5. Again, it’s a slightly different head, but it’s got that extra height. It’s got that extra angle of descent. It’s landing softer, just with a slightly lower spin, but not low by any means. ZXi4 would be much lower than that. Uh the other small group in there is ZXI7, but I only had two balls in it, so that’s not fair to compare. Next best one was the white, which is the PXG CB. So, some subtle differences there in the data. We’re just getting that little bit more height and that little bit more steepness coming in with the ZXi5. Again, it is just a slightly bigger cavity, so it’s just a prop up above the others. ZXI7 just normalizes a bit compared to the CB and the Callaway and the PXG, but we’ve definitely got that CB and the PXG just coming off a little bit slower because there’s a bit more club up there instead of club forward. So, we don’t get as much forward launch. We just get a bit more height which gives us a little bit more control. But between those clubs, they all do their own thing in a slightly different way. Again, I’ve isolated the same shaft in each one and the same specs in each one. So, standard line angle for each model. It might vary from brand to brand, model to model, but they are the standard ones of each one.

Your level of knowledge and quality of reviews is what convinced me to purchase 2 Ventus Blue Velocore + Driver/FW shafts. Keep them coming 👍🏽
Can you do a video testing the new Maxfli Tour balls vs some other premium balls?
Of these I prefer the Srixon ZXi5. I use a game improvement iron set currently and need more help. I tried a friend's 565's several years ago and liked them – the i5 seems an improvement since then. The ZXi5 reminds me of the Honma TW475Vx in appearance (subsequently replaced by the TW757Vx). Ever hit them?
Spot on data. Zxi5 for the win. 🏆
Went for a fitting recently the zxi 7 game out on top. Now have 4-5 iron in zi5 and 6-W in zxi7
Was recently fitted into the zxi5, feel is amazing. Can't wait to get them.
The fact the Zxi5 lives with the other brands CB says it all for me . Best irons in the game
I’d be fascinated to see how Takomo stacks up as well?
Would zx7 be a better comparison
I love the comparison
