£350 Aliexpress DH bike vs Premium £6000 Downhill bike! I ride technical MTB trails, huge gap jumps, wooden features and urban freeride hits to put these wildly different priced bikes head to head, will the cheap bike survive?

I put my Canyon Sender downhill bike against the far cheaper £350 Aliexpress downhill bike to show you how much better a real DH bike is. We start the video off at Windhill bike park and get into the action on some huge drops before getting into one of the biggest jump lines in the UK and pushing myself!! The cheap Aliexpress bike has quick release wheels, scary welds and super thin tyres but how much slower will it be on the timed DH section?

We then move to an urban freeride environment and hit some stair sets of doom to see how the bike will fair and already we see the wheels start to get destroyed.

The finale happens at Twisted Oaks bike park but not before landing some big tricks on the mulch jump, but which trick will end the Aliexpress bike?

I hope you enjoy the video!

hello everyone today is going to be epic because on my left I have the AliExpress downhill bike that cost 355 and on my right I have the canyon sender CFR which is around £6,000 and is an absolute beast and today we’re going to be putting these two very differently priced bikes head to head to see how they compare let’s get into the woods we’re now geared up and in the woods and we’re over at the first feature which is this triple drop here windhill bike park is full of sick obstacles and we’re going to be going into it first go on the canyon sender off the big one just to show you what it’s all about and then we’ll probably build up slowly on the basso let’s get it who oh miles now time for the baso I’m definitely not going that fast but I’ve took my goggles off so I can feel the speed I was going so quick then we’re going to start on this one look it’s just a little rollable one but I’m going to drop to the bottom there just to feel if it’s actually strong enough a chill that’s good it’s just a terrifying reality that I’ve got to go to the next size up now here we go oh yeah chill wow them two drops were landed so smooth on this thing I’m a bit scared it’s got Square taper bottom bracket which means the cranks have a square part inside they’re really easy to bend so we got to land as smoothly as possible we’ve got an oil spring damper on the rear that seems to be working good the front the front forks are called cat Fork 32s of a bit of fox copying going on there so funny my main concern on these cheap bikes is the world quality so I’m going to be landing as smoothly as possible and now it’s time to hit that big one what stupid idea right come on up we go oh oh that was scary wow what a crazy intro to this versus test also forgot to say it’s got quick release as well which is just the scariest thing ever I guess it used to be used all the time and didn’t break it’s just hard to let my mind go on how weak this thing is right next challenge across from the drops is something I wanted to save till later but whatever let’s get straight into the action this is the Pro Line big wooden features drops and stuff we’re going to do the first half of it I’ll start on the downhill bike to be safe and then we’ll get the cheapy out here we go go hop onto this oh yeah this is sick then we’re into this section there we go that’s the size of jumps we’re talking about it’s actually ridiculous for that bike ah right to the top let’s get the Jep through that line This is next level fear right now Ali Express vers one of the biggest lines in the UK dropping oh oh yes yes oh my God that is absolutely terrifying oh my God so scary these cheat bikes just sort of add a whole new level of fear to biking it’s just a ticking Time Bomb really isn’t it well I reckon you get down there and I just do it one and done it yeah oh that was pure fear oh but I’ve got over my fear I’m going to do a huge suicide no hand and now in slow motion just to just why not let’s oh my God that was so nly the seat was doing that while I was clamping for the seie that’s too much fire that’s been played with now on that section we now going to go and ride some downhill stuff and see how much difference Compares between these two bikes we’ve now come over for a bit of routy downhill action we’re going to cruise down here there’s a few routs and then it’s into a vertical steep section which will be a test for both bikes but the AliExpress one’s going to be terrifying so let’s get in on this one first show you how chill it is then die on the next one dropping here we go let’s do some damage on this Trail oh my God that is so roty what on it’s now time for the Ali Express bike let’s see how this thing is going to work with its awful tires here we go AliExpress bike can’t really pedal that well across here well that was a better line choice in though oh god oh here we go into this sketchy section oh my God this is where it’s just oh oh that is way slower that’s so gnarly that threat got really scary like suspension doesn’t work no grip on the tires the brakes you can feel just don’t lock up oh that was scary survived it though it’s still pretty mind blown that it can go down that stuff but for how long it could actually keep it up for I don’t know it’s now time to hit a full Trail top to bottom we’re going to time it so you can see the difference between the expensive and the awful next challenge is the race run I’m going to start up the top of this Trail here with the Finish Line being the bridge at the bottom we’re going to use the GoPro as the timing device we pre filmed a few Clips on this Trail so we can mix between GoPro and big camera we’re also going to go and get the Drone out so Lou can film The last part in real time with the race runs and just merge it together into this sick looking thing to see the canyon come out in the lead by Miles here we go race run time 3 2 1 dropping pedal pedal Z into the technical bit here W so death w w Lou’s behind of the drones still onto the bridge there we go just finished that lap then on the canyon sender what a beauty I mean just the stability and the feelings of like confidence you get on this bike is next level sick grip on the tires amazing suspension unreal brakes you’re just flying down there having the time of your life so it’s now time for the AliExpress bike is it even going to make it down let’s find out 3 2 1 dropping here we go hopefully the train stays on for this thing o oh that’s so sketched through there right oh oh my God oh oh oh that’s scary no grip at all still oh no we’re making it sounds like we got a flashy maybe oh powering down surviving it still W into the bridge there we go well that was quite a good run on this thing it felt like something went wrong at the back though like it was it felt kind of soft I mean I managed to get down I think it was a bit of a decent speed but oh yeah look that Rim has got a massive hole in it big old Dent that’s what the like puncture oh yeah and the wheels already started to fail a bit there with that destructively fast sending down the hill as you can see with the times the canyon sender won easily on such a short Trail that’s so fun let’s find a new challenge to put these bikes head-to-head again come on we’ve now switched to an urbanic environment we’ve got a stair set of Doom here it’s very tight similar to the tightness of some of the Mexican Urban downhill races which is quite cool super thin there though look the bars aren’t going to fit but luckily with the canyon oops luckily with the canyon sender we’ve got full control so it’s going to be fine let’s blast the lap down and then switch to the awful Jep here we go dropping urbanic section on the downhill bike that is scary down there so tight whoa firing easy let’s get the other one now we’re back on the Ali Express Beast now this is where it might start to get interesting cuz the wheels already got that dent in it brakes aren’t so good no grip on the tires let’s give it a go definitely not doubling in o oh my god oh that’s scary there woo yes stomp sick before we get into a new challenge actually I’ve found that there’s some damage forming on this thing in the rear wheel area we got some dents coming through from these stairs now look we got loads of them this back wheel isn’t enjoying that at all the gears are also not broken but they’re really it constantly falls off there and it all gets stuck stuck and wedged in which is very annoying and of course look at this oh it doesn’t work it’s all stuck look at the flex test you can go a good 2 in either way of just pure sketchy Flex let’s go and see other fun stuff we can launch into see what else happens we’ve now come to the next location Twisted Oaks bike park this is going to be potentially the end for the Ali barar bike but before we get into it all fresh pill grips are back in stock so we’re going to freshen up my downhill bike before we do a few tricks on here and then get into some more action going for some stey gray ones actually today matching the back end of the sender oh yes please look at that that’s so that is actually firing isn’t it pill grips are on looking fresh they are available now links in the description or up here and also orad is in stock so you can get your hands on that as well and stomped coffeee is absolutely stock top and dreamy Link in the description is now time to do some tricks on this and then see if I can pull them off on the AliExpress bike come on Bo let’s get a three on the go now then boy’s in oh that was insane yes here you go let’s get a 360 dreams those two simple tricks have just been completed on the canyon sender with ease it’s now time for the AliExpress bike I’m just going to Pedal hard we’ll get this flip out of the way come on oh yes easy it survived a flip it’s now time for 360 let’s give it a go wa oh stomped it’s fine I just landed that three then and it felt kind of smooth even though I cased but look the cranks are all bent can you see that so we slowly it’s starting to die that wasn’t even a heavy impact and I think they’ve been getting bent I just didn’t notice but like this is popping out around here like this is all coming out with the pressure they’re they’re out of line and the actual spindle is bent as well so let’s get in the woods see what else we can do and see how long this bike is going to last come on we’ve now come over to a little section I love it’s super enjoyable it’s more of an endur one but still you can get nice lot of speed some sideways action and the Tike burms there are quite impactful on the bike so I’m not going to be holding back anymore on that thing I’m going to give it some proper sendit so first let’s hit it on the canyon sender hard then we’ll try it on that thing here we are on the sender oh wow firing round it feels amazing just so much confidence to hit the corners as hard as you want I’m just flying off this little hip here so enjoyable on this machine like look at it it’s just beautiful what a perfect design let’s give AliExpress a hammering here we go sending it in finding it hard to Pedal with these oh bars have moved oh what is all that noise oh no what is going on oh the Pringles are out oh no we have we have a cheese and onion Pringle on the course look at that that broke in a turn ball Mo oh what is all that noise oh no so after 2 days of riding as lightly as possible on the Ali Express bike it has come to an end in a burm there the back wheel is now a pringle the cranks are bent and that was actually terrifying to ride just waiting for stuff to snap going over those big jumps is one of the scariest things you can do the canyon sender is of course perfect that bike is absolutely the dream I love that machine if you want to see more downhill action let me know see you in the next one to the [Music]

  1. At least it kind of looks like a DH bike so that's the main thing. Imagine some parents buying this for their kid for the upcoming DH season lol

  2. the fact you would do that on such a cheap bike is crazy youda man!! dont think down bike is somthing you wana skimp on 😉

  3. You should try some Indian brands like Caya Bikes, Cradiac and Shnell. I have not pushed them as hard as you have. But, they hold up pretty well for a modest beating. And, these cost around £200 to £250.

  4. Time to test decathlon bikes! Rockrider bikes! I bought one and its heavy! Sturdy and looks amazing but im dutch..we dont have jumps like this its all flat over here 😂😂😂 but i do wonder what you think about those bikes they rly seem decent hope you wil see this comment and test the 650 bike and the 1k 1.2k bikes

  5. Makes you wonder, when you see the trails being run in poor countries, what they could do if they had access to the kit we have. I'm sure they would choose the same, but that cheap bike would be a dream if we were them. I'm surprised it survived woww 😮😮

  6. I'm saving my money for when the battery wraps around the tubular frame uphill, and taken off downhill. One day, I reckon you should sell bikes dude.

  7. change the forks wheels and tyres like you have on the canyon cos the sender doesnt come with halo wheels Goodyear tyres or boxxer forks. a fairer test would be ride the canyon as is out the box and Put the boxers goodyears and halos on the Ali express. that really wasn't a good test lol

  8. Se não tiveres dinheiro para um bicicleta muito boa compras uma no ALIExpress e mudas as peças

  9. well, if you are money poor, and still want to have fun, it doesnt matter the spec of the machine, as long as you can have fun.

mountain biking, instrument playing, hiking, camping, fishing, golf, whatever, all of these a person can spend a little or a lot.

just as long as you can enjoy your hobby, no matter how much or how little you can afford…. at the end of your life, all your possessions will be owned by someone else…. so enjoy the benefits of what you have now, regardless of cost.

  10. Expensive bikes are like expensive guitars, it won’t make you better, but you’ll appreciate it more.

  11. I remember back in 1998 I got a Votec F7 FR .

It was one of the most aggressive freeride bikes out there…

Today I'd be scared to death to trust those bottom brackets and flimsy rear kinematics.

But it worked back in the day and there weren't too many really bad accidents. Ripped out bottom brackets — yes
Broken main pivots — of course.

But biking got a lot more aggressive over the years. If you want to go bike parks and drop the shit out of the Bike — get a modern gravity bike. They now have a ridiculous amount of sturdiness incorporated.

If you are like me and enjoy the old times on trails with the old equipment — Votec F7 FR , Rotwild RFR01, they can handle nearly every thing you throw at them although they aren't as stiff as modern bikes.
And QR axles, pivots, bottom brackets have limitations when hitting flat landings….but for natural trails with medium jumps and smaller drops they are built right. Not like a tank, but just right 👍🏻

  12. Put a £100 000 prize on the win for the cheap bike and he’ll beet the overpriced bikes time I’ll bet on it, also if you smash a rim into a rock it’s gonna break cheap or expensive…..

  13. Imagine going to an Disneyland you can get a day pass or you can get a season pass, this is sort of the same thing

  14. Most people”this proves that you don’t need a super expensive bike” reality “Sam is insane at biking on anything”

  15. Scott, why don’t you try something like the canyon vs a bike from another brand that’s the same price as the Ali express one? I’ve got a GT Aggressor which cost me £360, would that hold up better than Ali express? Maybe put Ali express up against a GT Aggressor and see how they both fair at the same price point..

  16. Funny to watch 😂. Your a brave man 💪. Hats off to you . Not bad though for £350 as if someone just road the bike on dirt trails and didn't do jumps ect it would be ok for a average Rider and probably last a good few years .
