Golf isn’t easy, and you can’t get good in a day. It doesn’t help when you have horrible coordination and athletic ability like Zach. But Zach ‘The Koob’ Kubusch is determined to enhance his golf game with the end goal of breaking the score of 100 in a full round of 18. This is the second chapter in his journey to “greatness,” or more appropriately, mediocrity. However, Zach is learning under the tutelage of a great teacher, Cam Martens, who is a Golf Professional from the Winderemere Golf & Country Club!

Murray McCourt gave Zach the spark for this journey, connecting Cam and Zach ahead of this season’s pilot episode of The VIP Golf Show right here on EST. Tune in for the fun starting Sunday, May 4th at 8:00 a.m., which kicks off a 20-week program that airs each Sunday at 8:00 a.m. only on Edmonton Sports Talk!

[Music] [Applause] [Music] Wow. Wow. [Music] All righty. It’s just about to be uh round two of meeting with Cam Martins. Just in my driveway right now. I’ve hit the driving range once. I tried to hit the driving range another time and the place said it was open until 8, but I got there at 7:30 and it was only open until 7:00 that day. Their Google website completely lied. Waste of time. But that’s okay. I’m gonna learn more from another teacher. Let’s go. [Music] A 5ft bait with 5 in of freshy on top. No new snowfall overnight, but still 16 cm in the last 5 days. The base right now of Marmet 110 cm. Season total 324. It’s minus one right now. Mid Mountain, which is the forecast high for the day. Nice mild spring sands. All chairs are spinning. 25 runs were groomed overnight, so it’s Coroy City. Join them this weekend for the Corona free ride. Buckets of Corona for 25 bucks. Outdoor barbecue. We get a cheeseburger and a bag of chips for 18. DJs from Good Company Entertainment at Mid Mountain. And an acoustic set from Pete Trinowski at the lower chalet. The lower chalet. Lower chalet. Chinowski. [Music] I made my way down to the beautiful Windmir Golf and Country Club down in the river valley once again just to see what was up. Uh first time Cam and I met, we were working on just trying to hit a spot. Trying to hit a spot. Uh get your arms up. Trying to hit that same exact spot over and over and over again. uh to have that replication and repetition so I can form some sort of consistency. And this time around he uh set up a bit of contraption, a contraption here for me, which consists of two poles as you see, a bit of a 2×4. And he’ll show me right away what this is all about. Take a drive. So, what what we kind of worked on, all I all I kind of left it off with last time is in this game, you’ve got to be able to hit the ground where you’re looking, right? And so, like the ball’s going to be sitting there, but you need to be able to use your arms and hands to strike the turf, right? That’s where we walked away. So, you know what I mean? Like, get your spot up, down, and go. All right. So, now obviously when you watch the Masters, you didn’t see a single player cuz you watched the Masters from beginning to end, obviously. Oh, yeah. Yeah, for sure. When you watch the master, you saw zero players doing this, right? Chopping up and down. The swing tends to have more of a shape to it, more of an around the body sort of shape. So, we’re just going to start working on a little bit quicker. So, I’ve got this little jig here to give you a sense of the shape of a swing. We’re going to All we’re going to work on is taking it back about this far, maybe a little bit higher, but I want you just slightly above this. Right? Just slightly above this. And we’re just going like this. Give it a little rock. and then down right here. So, he shows me the way that I should set up with it and uh use this contraption. It’s a bit of a tracer. You’re going to see me yap a bit here. I think I was doing more yapping than I was uh actually hitting the golf ball than I usually do, but now I think my shots are looking pretty decent. My swing is feeling all right. I still can’t find that exact consistency that, you know, every golfer dreams of where I hit one and I can replicate it 10 times in a row. probably one out of 10 tries or two out of 10 tries. I’d hit one that I could say, you know what, that was pretty good. But, uh, anyways, thanks for watching. If you like the video, please subscribe. Uh, there will be more to come. Hopefully once a month I can produce another video. Depends on how often I meet with Cam, but I will record my progress and uh, make a bit of a montage like I did here on what I’ve been working on. So, subscribe TST, hit that like button if you enjoyed this video. There’s more to come. Thank you so much.
