Jordan Spieth speaks to MEdia Day 2 Charles Schwab Challenge Colonial.
H on Thursday you went out with Zeke Newberry to the first hole. Can you talk about how that came to be and why we why it was important for you to kind of do something like that? Well, our foundation supported um an organization that he uh he and his family have taken advantage of that has allowed him to take a lot of flights um expenses paid. This amazing organization um where these kids can go get treatment. He was flying from Naples to Florida, I think 20 some odd times. Um, and now I know it’s it’s less often, but for a while it was like every two weeks, I think. And, uh, that’s how it came about, I guess. You know, he’s he’s been having I think he’s had his first surgery or his first treatment when he was like three and now he’s 14. And I mean, it just the kind of situation just nobody should have to deal with. I mean, pediatric cancer is just a it’s an absolutely just terrible, terrible thing. And um that we just got hooked up. I’m not exactly sure how, but he had some cousins here and I think maybe the organization was just going to bring him over here. And so it was cool to spend some time with them and walk the first hole with him. And um it was the best hole I’ve played this week to be honest. I made I made eagle with him on the bag and I have yet to do that any other any other hole. and talk about how important it is for guys like you to kind of give back and give back and help out like you know the community people going through these kind of tough times. Yeah, I mean I think look we’re I think it’s any athlete, right? I mean kids want to be athletes when they grow up. A lot of them do. Um, and I I believe that there is a responsibility when you’re in the public eye that, you know, you should, especially if you’re you’ve been given way way better of a deck than um, you know, most kids and then especially the ones who have been given some bad cards. Um, that I mean, I’ve always thought and it’s really just comes back to kind of my upbringing with my parents and then also my high school at Jesuit. So, it was always to me it was like, hey, just recognize that there’s there’s a lot of people that are struggling and we’re not. I mean, I I’ll grind out there and it may seem like the world’s ending sometimes to me out there, but I know in in retrospect that that’s just on the golf course and I’m just competing. But anything that um athletes can do and when I was young, I looked up to him and um if you can be a role model um you definitely should be trying your hardest to. And then Jordan just won on today 71 after the bogeies on 13 and 15. Then you came back with that birdie on 17. How big was that? Yeah, it was big. I thought I actually hit it in the left rough off the tea. I think I got a really good bounce to be in the fairway and then I had a good angle from there and a good number. So it’s just nice to see one go in. I mean the holes look smaller than the golf ball to me this for, you know, month or so now and I feel like I’m hitting my lines and um it was really nice to finish that way. I played 18 a little safer than I would have with the wedge. I had um you know and may have had a better look at birdie if I didn’t have to kind of make sure you don’t get a gust or a weird you know a bad swing or something like that. Um but it looks like it’ll be good enough to have a chance this weekend. Wind’s going to blow. Um so you know if there’s any time you can be on the cut line and make make a big move, it’s going to be on this course this weekend. So that’s what I’m looking forward to doing. Thank you.

This is his reality now, just to make the cut.
Love this person! However, he needs a reset. New coach, new Caddie. He must
free his mind to enjoy and really compete in this game.
Class act!
Charkes?
He’s going low tomorrow it’s guaranteed
Unfortunately, we won't ever see the greatness again
Great human
All he needs is a fast start for a change… Once he is in the mix he is hard to beat.
