Welcome back to the Dan’s Golf World Show. Following a major, the PGA Championship is wrapped up and Scotty Sheoffller has another win on his hands. We’re also going to take a look at Rory Mroy and the controversy over his non-conforming driver. Uh tensions were flaring all over the golf course. We got some fines that are going out for some uh explicit language that was being used. And you know what? I was out there. I don’t blame him one bit. All coming up right here on Sports Illustrated’s own Dan’s Golf World Show. Gentlemen, welcome back. Good to be here. Following a major I feel like the buzz is still in the air in the golf world, the golf community. Rich, I see you’re still down at Coil Hollow yourself. Are you feeling the buzz yourself? Oh, it’s so good. I couldn’t leave. Like, I I’m so excited to be here. This weekend was so awesome. There’s so many ups, so many downs. The lead the lead taking place and and changing from like it was almost hole to hole. It was changing like oh, it was so epic. Loved it. Uh Gary, we got you joining us. Uh where are you out there, Gary? I see you got a beautiful golf course behind you. I’m in Orlando, Florida. Um after this, I’m gonna go play Hawks Landing. Very nice. Well, I’m glad you uh were still able to join us with your wildly busy golf schedule. I do feel like one of the absolute most exciting pieces of news for the show this week comes from the one and only Rich Evans. Uh Rich, this power stash is the stash we all needed. And I just I want to right now on behalf of the entire team here say thank you. And uh we’re we just we couldn’t be more delighted than to see this this Keegan Bradley level mustache you’ve brought to the show. Absolutely love it. I I I was rooing for Keeges. I think he finished like T8, so he was playing some awesome golf. Gave me some inspiration even though he didn’t have the stash this weekend, but you know, I was just like, I got to rock it. Besides, the beard’s too hot during the during the summer. I had to knock it down and like I’m going with the stash. You know, I was uh I was in a wonderful position uh this this weekend on Sunday down there at Quail Hollow. I was right where the players come off the green and kind of go up their little exit shoot to go back to the clubhouse and sign their scorecards. And I was right there when Keegan Bradley came off the green and it was beautiful. His wife was waiting there for him with his young little kids. And you know what? Even though he didn’t take home the the gigantic PJ Championship trophy, the Watermaker Cup, he seemed happy. I feel like he was proud of his performance and and he should have been. You know what I mean? Keegan Bradley, our RDER Cup captain for our team USA, looked good out there, even though Rich, he did not have the power mustache on him. You think that made the difference? You know, he he probably would have taken the Cub home had he had the power of the stash to go along with it. Well, you know, it’s it’s it’s one of those things in retrospect. All he can do is look back and and really determine if it’s time to bring the Stash back. I do hope though that we do have it by the RDER Cup. That’s all I’m saying. Well, what’s funny is because he definitely views the stash as lucky or goodlucky. We learned that for back when when he was playing in TGL and uh so I’m hoping that his eighth place finish he’s not like that was awesome in a major like I’m going to keep no stash like I hope that’s not his view you I hope he views it as I didn’t win in the major so I’m going to grow it back to uh to hopefully take the next tournament. Well, yeah. I mean, you can’t deny data. You know what I mean? The data is there. If if we look at it and we’re all being honest with ourselves, there is power in the power stash and and you know, maybe we can get in contact with somebody from Kee’s team and I don’t know, maybe influence a decision there. You won some money this weekend. I did. I you know, okay, I’m uh I’m new to the whole sports betting scene. I haven’t done a lot, but I decided to jump on one of the old betting apps and threw a few bets out there and I decided to go a little wild and take some of some of these long shots and I bet on a few hole-in-one opportunities and uh one of which I decided to throw a dollar on Seiwoo Kim to, you know, get a hole in one. What does the What does the guy do? It was a what is it? 250 yard par three. Just a monster. I think he pounded like a a 3-wood or something at it. Rolls it right up into the cup. Boom. $140 to one. I got paid $140 on that $1 bet. Thank you, Sew. You should have put five bucks on that. Well, here’s the problem. I picked like 25 guys to do it. And you know, I mean, either I made you got to do it. Now, I have a question about just real quick and we’re we’ll be done with it, but uh for sports betting, if you bet all out winner, yeah, can you only bet one all out winner when it comes to golf or can you bet like five guys? I think you can bet as many as you want and they’ll take your money and you’ll lose on all 20 and win on only one is is my understand. There was a lot of bets I made that were for too many people to win the same thing that I was betting on. Like a bunch of people in the top five. I don’t you know I I came out a little ahead barely. I think that that hole in one saved me. Um there’s a All right. Well, before let’s get what a thing to bet. I know it was it was wild. One of the things I was doing that was beyond wild in the DraftKings app. There’s a section called social and you can see what other people are betting and I was throwing like a dollar or two on the most ridiculous parlays. Like one of them was like a 96 leg parlay that had like the Royals winning and like all this other like wacky stuff. You don’t even know what’s going on. I have no clue what’s going on. My uncle’s hit some absolutely zero parlays like that. Some of them were like your dollar could pay you back $14,000 if it hits. I don’t even think three of the legs even hit on some of these. It was bad. It was fun. All right, we’re getting off the rails here. Let’s try and keep this show together here. But Scotty Sheffller winning another major outside of the Masters, I’m excited for him. I feel like this guy, I mean, I’m not the first one to say it, has a lot of potential in his golf career, but he’s also now halfway into his grand slam. Rich, in your opinion, do you think Scotty Shuffler has a grand slam in him? I mean, I think that was the most under underestimated under under thing you could say. Scotty’s got a lot of potential in him. Yeah, of course. The number one golfer of the world. So much potential. Do I think he’s got a grand slam? I definitely do. He’s playing absolutely great golf. He’s been playing great golf for years now. And it’s just, you know, golf’s a hard game. You got to have some luck. You got to have a lot of skill, you know, and you got to just have those things line up on those big right days in those big tournaments. And yeah, he’s going to get a he’ll definitely get a a a grand slam. You know, when you say uh somebody’s got a lot of potential, usually that person sucks and you’re just trying to be nice. Yeah, it was a bit of a reach to say that about the far in away number one golfer in the world. Like what what is he 141 weeks or something at this point of uh being number one golfer? Lot of potential. I think Tiger was grand total Tiger in a row. He’s got to be 200 or he’s got to go all the way to 2035 to catch Tiger. Tiger was like 6 in like 48 weeks. Yeah. He had like two separate runs of like over 300 weeks consecutively. I mean, unbelievable. 144 cuts made. But also, uh, Scotty, the thing about Scotty this week, which I loved, was he was just out there like throwing darts, making putts, and he was like slightly annoyed by having to wait for everybody to like look at a putt for more than 3 seconds cuz he was so dialed that he was like, “Has he putted yet?” No. Oh my god. Like, let’s go. Like, the guy was in the zone. The train left the station and he didn’t want anyone slowing him down, dude. I can’t do it with him in that screen. Josh can’t handle us. What’s crazy though, even with Scotty and how well he did, dude, he missed several several very short and makeable putts. Like I mean had he been dialed and hitting those like I couldn’t imagine what he would have actually uh shot for the weekend. Yeah. Well, that’s that’s always what’s wild about him is you’re like wow. All these shots he left on the table and he still wins by like a massive margin. Five or six strokes, something like that. Yeah. Green mile. Who? Yeah. Oh. All right. I forgot which hole it was. I was following him out there on the course and it was a a monstrous par4. I’m trying to remember. I don’t know. Pounds driver sails it down the hill. It might have been 14, might have been 15. I don’t remember. And here we are. So, I’ve got the earpiece radio in. You know, I’m listening to the broadcast. So, I see him pound this drive, but we can’t really tell what it does when you’re standing up by the T- box and I hear on the radio, uh, the ball’s in the air, lands just short of the green, it’s rolling up, it’s rolling on. Scotty Sheffler hits it to three feet. You’re just like, dude, like unbelievable. I know, right? Like just classic good old Scott can’t uh can’t get in his way. Um I I even thought, you know, him bringing it all the way home. You know, we had John Rom who really was starting to put some golf together. First of all, I was so happy to see John Rom out there playing great golf. Yes. Uh, you know, but one of the things I really thought a lot about is, you know, we went through this this period of time with Rory where it felt like he was carrying the weight of the PGA tour on his back. And his wins were more than just Rory getting another win. It was about the this battle between two tours. It was about he became the spokesperson for the PGA Tour. He had this looming grand slam kind of hanging over his head for years and years and years. and and the weight of the win I think really sort of slowed down his trajectory and almost prolonged um you know some things that probably should have happened a lot sooner for the quality of golf Rory plays I feel in a little bit like in a way that that John Rom is a little bit in that position right now he goes to live you know just after winning the Masters he goes to live that same year and then we kind of don’t really see the same John Rom for for quite a long time again after that. And and so now there’s all this talk. It’s like, do these guys fall off and lose that special thing they have when they go to live? They get the big paycheck. They lose their competitive spirit. It’s like, well, Josh is telling me to wait. No, no, no, no. I got Okay. All right. All right. Um, do they lose their competitive spirit? Well, Bryson won the US Open last year, so that can’t be 100% true. And we look at, you know, even in the Masters, we had two, three live guys in the top 10. Um, but we weren’t seeing John Rom really come back into this place in the spotlight and and taking the big wins. But it’s like, but he’s so good. I mean, he’s finishing, you know, top 10 on Liv constantly. I mean, I what do they say? How many weeks since uh he was outside of the top 10 on Live? Like, yeah, well, that’s live. That’s live, you know, and there goes the arguments. But to see him come back and really start to try and run down Scotty, especially on Sunday, he put together some some absolutely great golf. But at the end of the day, the green mile ate him up. Here’s what I think. I think John Ram is in a very similar position that Rory went through where he has a lot of weight on top of his own personal aspirations and what he wants to do in golf. There’s all the people that are saying John Rom goes to live and he’s no longer the golfer he he used to be. John Rom is, you know, taking the bag and and and that’s it. It’s all gone. To me, I feel like John Rom proved something very different this last weekend and and really showed that there is an incredible golfer still in there and and I don’t think by any means we are at the end of the John Rom era. My personal opinion. Josh, what do you got? So, I was watching clips on Tik Tok yesterday, uh, Sunday after the round, and everyone’s saying it it’s no longer or it should not be a discussion anymore that the Liv guys are falling off compared to the PGA guys. Thank you. Because I mean, look at the numbers. Bryson Dashambo tied second. Yep. Rom tied eight and W Neman tied uh eight as well. And like they’re up there. They’re competing. Yeah, it’s it’s the only difference is between the guys is they have less tournaments a year and the tournaments are less amount of days. Like any pro golfer can go out and play 72 holes a day with quality. It shouldn’t depend on how much they play or where they play when all these live guys are starting to really tie it down and make moves. I agree. I mean, I do think, you know, even like Tiger before his latest injury was just saying like he’s like, I just need to get out and play more tournaments. There’s something about tournament golf. Um, you’ll also notice a lot of these guys try and play the weeks leading up to a major to make sure that they’re in that like tournament mindset, tournament mode. So, the only thing I would wonder is, is there an effect that these guys have, you know, from playing less tournament golf? not that they’ve lost their competitive edge, but that they’re not in the competitive environments enough or as often and what effect that might have on their their overall play. And and I really think I mean to kind of compound on what both you guys are saying, uh I I don’t know if you guys listen to Dan Rapboard at all. He had a great great he was talking about this same topic and he was his take on it I thought was huge and lines up exactly what we’re talking about. I think like you know when people go get the bag at live it’s an individual thing. I don’t think you can just blanket say like oh you went to live and so now you’re not playing good. It’s going to be some people get that bag and now they can sit back and they don’t care as much and they’re not out there driving those extra balls and they’re not doing the stuff like that where but some guys still have that competitive spirit. And if you look the three guys that Josh just named all three are in the top leaderboards of Liv, right? So it’s it is definitely correlating back and forth as far as you’re leading in live, you are still can be leading in the PGA. Well, and you also wonder too, you know, I mean, obviously these guys are dealing in a financial realm that is that is a little difficult for some of us common folk to to really understand and imagine, but at the same time, does that give them additional investment leeway? You know, I mean, it there is a lot of expense in bringing the best coaches in the world out with you, you know. Well, now these guys can fund that. There is, you know, I mean, a lot of these guys, the top players, they’re bringing physical trainers, people outstretching them. I mean, there’s so much that goes into the team in and around these guys. And, you know, I would be willing to bet somebody who just came fresh off the Cornfairy Tour, has a brand new, sparkly, shiny, fresh new PGA Tour card. Are they flying around seven people with them like potentially Rory is, Scotty is, you know? So, at the same time, they’ve got the bag. So now they have all of this room to invest in themselves, you know. I don’t know. Maybe there is an actually an advantage there that’s not being recognized possibly. I don’t know. I think one of the most exciting parts of this tournament was the final round. I mean, it seemed like the tournament was a little bit off to a slow start. We had some crazy weather, huge delays. We know that had some effect on play. But by the fourth round, championship Sunday, that leaderboard was all over the place. Scotty Sheoffller, of course, came in with a strong lead and had a very slow start to his day. Meanwhile, John Rom comes out hot and starts putting some points up on the board. I mean, Rich, what did you think of all of that scoreboard chaos out there at Quail Hollow? Well, and Bryson Shambo, he had the outright lead for a minute as well. Like, it it was absolutely spectacular. And let’s even talk about it. The first couple of days, you had huge names. JT didn’t even make the cut like because the it was absolutely crazy. But then at that end and here’s what one of the things I loved. I was I I was able to watch almost all of Saturday and all of Sunday. And uh going into Sunday, so many of the the uh so many of the of the media and so many people were just saying, “Oh, this is this is Scotty. Scotty’s gonna win this. There’s there’s no questions asked. Scotty’s gonna win for sure. He’s he’s walking in with three strokes like he’s he’s got this in the bag.” And then all of a sudden Bodies the first hole like you know. Yeah. Yeah. It’s Yeah. And then all then Rom comes up. He ties him towards the end before that Bryson actually goes and he takes the lead away from him. Like I mean it was not Scotty’s win. Now yes Scotty ended up winning by six because you know Bryson Rom really fell off but I kind of feel it was just I don’t think that it was necessarily Scotty just played that much better. I think those other guys just were trying to win a few different strokes and try trying to play some games and and you know they just didn’t hit the best shots. Missed a couple short. Bryson was terrible on the on the putting green. Like that last round he missed. It seemed like every hole he was missing stuff that you just got you can’t miss in order to win a major. I noticed that. I’m gonna give Scotty the ultimate compliment right now. That PGA went felt like tigerist. It felt tiger. It was Tigers because like Sunday he’s leading by whatever. It’s like the dude’s got it and you’re like everybody’s just playing for second. Well, that is a quite the high compliment and compliment anybody who’s playing Tiger. You’re welcome Scotty Sheffler because I know you care about what I’m thinking back here in Disney World. Hey, uh Rich, the one thing I notice about uh Bryson’s putting and I’ve seen it like with his YouTube videos and tournaments, he’s either making everything or he’s not making anything. I I 100% agree. I also feel like Bryson’s a lot that with with his whole game, you know, he and you know, sitting here, you know, with my plus 400 handicap, you know, I’m No, no, no, no, no. He can’t. But I but I I was watching it and I’ve been watching this for for a lot of tournaments. It seems like Bryson is more comfortable clubbing down, gripping and ripping rather than clubbing up and taking a nice finesse shot and trying to play something, you know. And so on those tournaments when that wind starts whipping, well, when he’s gripping and ripping, that that wind’s taking the ball and it’s not landing where he wants it to land. And then he starts getting in his head and you can watch him. Bryson is a very emotional player, which is great and it’s also bad, right? Because when things are going good, things are going good and he wins by tons of strokes. But when things aren’t going good, he just starts getting shaky. He starts he starts missing some of the basics. Well, and he also like Sorry. Go ahead, Dad, if you want. Well, yeah. I was just going to say I I think I think it’s so true cuz we saw especially even on Sunday where he just started hitting everything long. You know what I mean? He was just air mailing greens. Things were hitting the back, rolling off, bouncing back, ending up all around. and now he’s just fighting this uphill battle, which for somebody like he says, he feeds on the crowd. He feeds on the energy, but that also means that he’s feeding on the negative, unfortunately. And you could tell it just it washes over his face like that that, you know, killer instinct starts to turn into frustration and it it’s tough because you’re like, man, you know, he has it in him. You know, I mean, as much as any of those top guys, this was Bryson’s tournament, you know? I mean, it really was. He had every chance on earth to once again stuff it in all these guys’ faces and take home another gigantic trophy. And it just, you’re right, because let’s just say, I don’t know, half of those almost putts went in. That’s still a win. Just half. And and they weren’t. And that makes the difference. Gary, what do you got? It it was annoying to me because um a lot of good golfers that like you know you’re just not having that day. You kind of just brush it off and it’s like and I know this is a US or this is a PGA championship but it’s like every time Bryson missed a putt he’d be like pointing at something or like yelling about something and it’s like dude you just missed the putt. It’s not the the green’s fault. It’s nobody else’s fault but you. So stop trying to make it like you’re so good that like and you are so good but like he was like oh that that this and this. It’s like no you’re rationalizing it to make it not your fault. So don’t do that. It could be worse. You could have said I’m not doing media. Oh well that’s a good point. Josh, it’s so funny you were going to say that cuz I was literally going to say what he was doing is what I’m saying is he’s that emotional player, right? and he lets his emotions he lets him just fly which is part I think of why people way back when didn’t like him because he would let his emotions fly but now people are getting to see that hey that he’s just a real person but just like you said Josh with all of that being said with all of his emotions with all of everything there were two guys that waited behind to make sure to get him to make sure to congratulate him and it was Bryson that said hey man I’m really proud of you that was awesome and who was the other guy Mr. Keegan Bradley Mr. mustache himself even though it was missing. That’s right. Uh well, you know, here’s the thing what I I’m curious about and these guys have to be in a me mental place to do what they do. And they have to have this deep belief in themsel that I am the best. And they have to step up over every ball that I am the best. I can do this and I can beat Scotty Sheffller. I can beat anybody. It doesn’t matter who you throw at me. I put in the time. I put in the effort. I have the equipment. I have the training. I have the team. I have everything required to win. So, the reason that didn’t go in was the Green’s fault. I’m just curious, is that a mental defense to allow yourself to remain in a place where you don’t start spiraling and going, I suck. You know what? I can’t make putts today. It is me who is off. What am I doing? Why do I have this issue right now? I don’t know. But is there a potential for the idea that those guys or or Bryson himself use it to externalize the issue as opposed to internalize the issue? I don’t know. It’s like an illusion. It’s like a a rationalization that is an illusion that is an illusion but like like you said is tactically making them not blame themselves so they can continue down this very very high standard of confidence that you need to you know beat guys like Scotty Shuffler. But in the end all be all in my head like you got to be smart enough to realize like in your head like no I am just rationalizing this cuz like I played with a group of guys the other day 45 seconds three times a hole this kid would talk about his shots and why he didn’t go in and I go dude one shut up I’m up. I go I don’t care you missed the putt. I go get over it. I know. Two, we don’t do this here when somebody’s pre-shotting their thing because that’s just bad etiquette. And three, don’t do it again, otherwise we’re not playing. That’s hilarious. But Gary, I I agree with you. And what’s what’s funny is is I think it’s again it’s that own personal of how you’re going to take it because they were talking about uh the driver and I’m sure we’re going to dive into the driver and stuff like that, but somebody asked uh Scotty did the fact that you had to replace your driver head did was that why you were pulling the ball to the left? And Scotty’s reaction just kind of chucked. He’s like, “No, that was probably just something I was doing and it had fixed.” Yeah. I will I will say though uh and this would be real quick going from the people I’ve competed against and with in bowling it because it’s the kind of same thing you know they’re like they didn’t bowl bad the lanes just played weird or like or my favorite one I love to use is when like it happened last night at bowling uh people are throwing plastic balls plastic balls pushes the oil down a lane rather than uh grab it and absorb it. So all that oil you could have a say 40 foot oil pattern it could push to about 43 44 feet completely different game thing like that I feel is a thing. Well it’s the same thing in golf though too just different different elements. Yeah. Well you I mean all I can imagine is is every player approaches it with a different mental strategy because every single person is different. They process emotions differently. I mean look at Scotty Sheffller. I mean, he is I mean, people say it they’re like, “Uh, you know, he’s he’s boring to watch.” It’s like, but he’s so composed and he’ll get frustrated in a moment, but he doesn’t spiral. So, he has a different I don’t know, a different processing mechanism for good moments, bad moments, I mean, anything. But I think what’s so incredible about Scotty is he also has the ability to solve issues mid round on a championship Sunday at a major where he’s hitting everything left off the tee with a brand new driver because his was nonconforming and then at the turn all of a sudden they’re not and he finds something. And I think you know what’s what’s interesting there is a lot of amateurs and I’m gonna talk about myself is if if I’m doing something like that I’m hitting everything in one direction. Let’s say it’s all going left. Well, I start making big adjustments. I’m like don’t go left. Don’t go left. Which means at some point that that water is going to level out. You know, we’re going to find a balance in the two sides and things are going to start going too far right. And now I’m making a double adjustment and I’m trying to figure out, well, how do I add a little salt with a little less pepper and and kind of get back into this middle instead of staying true and just sort of finding my home space to get back to what I know is my swing. And obviously number one golf in the world, Scotty Shuffler, three-time major winner, um, has an ability to do that, you know, very different than anybody else. But I I think I don’t know. I I just it’s so fun to me to watch Scotty Sheffller trudge his way through a round from Thursday when we were into the mudball situation where he’s like guys we’ve had 4 in of rain. It is mindblowing to me that we are not doing lift clean in place that we aren’t playing the ball up. We’re playing it down but you know what the rules are the rules. So the way golf works is we attack what is given to us and do the best we can. And if if this is going to turn into um a match of luck where I hit the dead center of the fairway and get a mudball and you hit somewhere else and you don’t and I’m penalized worse than you, then that’s what it is and that’s what we’re playing with. He goes, “Do I agree? Not necessarily, but it is what it is. I’ll see you tomorrow kind of a situation.” I was a little confused when you told me about it. Like what does that mean? So up playing up playing down is playing down just like keeping it in the divot. Yeah. So, a lot of times, you know, when the course is super wet and they hit the ball dead center of the fairway, it still is coming in with so much spin and trajectory and speed and force that it’ll grab up a chunk of mud and now you have a mud ball and you’re you hit dead center of the fairway. You’re in position A+ and but you are still sort of penalized because there’s a glob of mud on your ball that’s going to send it left, right, you know, whatever. I mean, we saw that moment on Thursday, round one. We had the top three golfers in World Golf points rankings. We had Scotty Sheoffller, Rory Mroy, and Xander Schoffley. The top three players in the world according to the World Golf Rankings. Um, excluding Liv obviously. Uh, all in the same group and all of them double bogeied the same hole. I don’t know if there was a single app out there offering odds on the possibility of that that the top three golfers in the world would double bogey the same exact hole, but we were in this mudball situation. So, a lot of times, not necessarily as much in majors, they’ll say, “Hey guys, it’s lift, clean, and place.” So, when you get there, wherever your ball is sitting, put a little mark, put a little tea next to it, pick it up, give it to the caddy, he wipes the ball off, and then you get to place it back down, you know? where it was and hopefully, you know, and if there was a divot or a mud hole or something like that, you kind of get to work around that. And they were not allowed allowed that privilege on this tournament. They’re like, “No, this is going to be the purest form of golf and we’re not doing any of that.” Here’s what I like to say. Like going back to like that rationalization thing, like when I played with that guy from the USGA, he had a putt that was like this short and he didn’t blame anything. He goes, “Oh, that’s golf.” And then right there, like a really, you know, etiquette type of dude or like a mental grit type of person will look at that guy and go, one, he’s got his [ __ ] together because he’s calm and he just realizes that he can’t blame anything else but himself, maybe. Two, he’s already over it and it’s not this conversation that we’re having. And three, the most important thing is he’s not making everybody in the group feel uncomfortable with this negative, you know, energy. So it’s like one you have mental grit, two you have etiquette for the players around you and three you have like this logical understanding that it could have possibly been you. So all those three things together create a really good golfer to me. But the mudball thing I swear I think that yeah the rules are the rules and if everybody’s playing a good great grand but if not I swear like they should be able to move it. I agree with Scotty and fully heart. Well, Shane Lowry on that, you know, had one of the absolute worst representations of what happens when you get in one of these unfortunate lies. And and Shane Lowry hits it right into the fairway. Beautiful drive, rolls it out there, and it lands. I mean, in a hole. I mean, not even in just like a patch of like a little bit of missing grass. The ball was absolutely buried. I mean, barely even sticking up out of the ground. And we all know that had that mark been made the previous day, the grounds crew would have been out there. It have been all fixed up nicely and you know, maybe it’s not perfectly fresh fairway, but it wouldn’t have been a crater in the earth for his ball to go in. Calls over some rules officials, wants to get a look at it, wants to get some relief, and they’re just like, “Yeah, no. Kind of is what it is.” And dude was not happy. And I don’t blame him. I mean, I absolutely don’t blame him. And he had to take this just Hercules swing at the ball because I mean he had to dig through the earth to get enough face on the ball and the earth and he chunked it, didn’t he? I mean I mean no other choice. He didn’t like chunk it meaning he hit it bad. He was required to smash his club into the earth to get his ball to come flying out. He did the best he could. There we go. You see what he did after? Yeah. Then he straight up just flips off the hole. No. No. That what he did with his club. Yeah. You didn’t see what he did. So after he swings, he he creates that divot and just like like kind of angles that dirt up a little bit. He takes and does a full second swing and just like like up like the whole dirt and everything. Like it was it was hilarious cuz it was like I was playing on a MUN course with one of my drunk buddies that just missed a shot. like and he’s in a major like swinging a second time into the dirt digging holes. It is what it is. Okay, let me show you. Here’s what I don’t blame him, dude. I would have been so angry like like cuz that was absolutely ridiculous. And there’s no reason why that rules official could not have made an exception cuz that ball was buried. It was buried beyond no other. And like and it was it was what day two, wasn’t it? when it was absolutely sping wet and like well and he missed the cut by one. That one that was the one there that that potentially well and aside from the the the mental spiral you go into after that. But that right there that single stroke was the difference in him playing in a major for the weekend and jumping on his humongous private jet and going back to Ireland or wherever. Yeah. Sorry. Huge. Yeah. His buddy didn’t do too well either. Uh roars. Um, win Roars made the cut, right? Yeah, but yeah, but barely. Yeah, he came. Here’s the thing that one of the things I I just I thought he did. I thought he was like plus three. Yeah, he made he made the weekend. He just, you know, he didn’t make much of it. And it’s funny cuz he played terribly all weekend long and talked to the media this many times. Zero times. Come on. Like, are you kidding me? because there was all this news that comes out where I almost feel like we all learned about non-conforming drivers like this weekend though this goes on every weekend. This is something that is apparently like a gigantic part of the behind-the-scenes workings of pro golf but yet somehow this weekend it is the talk of the town. And so here we got we got Rory Mroy coming off winning the last major. We’ve got Rory Mroy the most recent historical grand slam winner. We’ve got Rory Mroy, the name of all names in golf. And the non-conforming driver thing all going on and the dude decides that for four straight days, I’m going to do zero media, zero press conferences. And um yeah, he he just wasn’t having it. He wasn’t going to do anything, you know, like 45 seconds worth of this take. Like when Tiger was like down and out for all his like scandals and all his nonsense, he wasn’t the Terminator anymore. He had to go back to his roots. He had to go back to having fun and loving the game and enjoying it the way he did. And that’s what we saw in like 2013 when he picks up the punt with Kevin Vana and laughs at him. Like we never see Tiger do that. Now with Rory and Bryson, think about Bryson. Everybody didn’t like Bryson. You know, he he got the the the string to the eye like nobody like him. now totally, you know, revamped his whole thing. So, Rory, go out there, be a little bit more intrusive, stop trying to like censor yourself, be more funny, and be more likable by not trying to be liked so much. You know, you know what, Roy? Grow a mustache. All right. How about you just grow a mustache and have a good time? You know what’s crazy, though? Uh Amanda Bat Leionis, that uh girl who was doing all the interviews and stuff for uh Full Swing. She reminds me of the the girl from Happy Gilmore. She reminds me of her so so much. But she was like, “Yo, at least the Live guys are coming to see me.” Yeah. When she said that to Bryson, she was like, “Thank you so much for taking the time for this interview. We appreciate you taking time to do this.” Like she said it two times like it was like really spicy. Do you think this is a [ __ ] move from Rory? I cuz when did he announce that he wasn’t doing media? He didn’t announce it. He just never did it. Yeah, he he just he just was being a [ __ ] every single day and just not doing me. I played terrible today. Well, and also Dan, you mentioned like why was the big talk of the town of these unc unconforming drivers? Well, the illegal drivers, right? Yeah. Rory won his grand slam with an illegal driver. Like that that is the talk of the town for a reason. Here’s the thing though, and and I think you know Scotty went into this and and a lot of other people have talked about it is and I think Scotty said it on Sunday, but he said the thing is the tolerances on the faces of these drivers is like so microscopic that you could be conforming on hole 15 and not on 16. What does conforming mean? So there’s like the thickness of the driver face and then what because what happens is if a driver face gets too thin, it bounces the ball off faster, harder, like you get more, you get more in you get a lot more out of the face. So, what it has to be is the ball can only have so much sort of like bounce back off of a driver face, but every time they hit it, especially when you’re guys like Rory and Bryson and Scotty who hit the ball unimaginably hard, that the face on their driver wears out way faster than any one of us, you know, maybe Gary’s a little closer. I, you know, I don’t know. No, no, no, no, no. Well, I mean, Scotty even said that he Scotty even said that like he used his driver for like a year, right? So, and he said, “Yeah, it doesn’t just wear out a whole 18.” But what he was saying was, “But it it it it all happens over from one ball to the next. It’s not there’s no way of knowing that he had an illegal driver a month ago. That driver could have given up the ghost on Monday. Um, it could have, you know, it could have been when he was practicing wherever last week. There’s just no way of it’s it’s not fair to say because it was non-conforming at the PJ Championship, he won the Masters with an illegal driver. That that’s my open it’s it’s a gigantic leap that that that there’s no way to guarantee but the only way you do guarantee it is if you go with what Scotty said and let’s he goes we’re only we’re kind of halfassing this thing. Why are we only picking a third of the group and testing them periodically. Either let’s all test or let’s all not let’s either Well, I think Dan both things can be true and both things can be said. All right. One, we’re we are like Scotty said, we’re halfassing it and we need to be testing more. Yes. But two, there was an illegal driver in his bag that won the grand slam. That’s it was tested right after that. It was tested right after the grand. I mean, that could have been 2,000 golf balls later. I from what I heard I heard the report was his driver head was tested right after he won. I thought it was tested this week and that’s why he was playing on a backup driver. It was tested on uh Monday. Scotty’s drive Scotty’s driver was tested this week. Rory’s driver was tested after the Master. Somebody check this because it was my understanding that Rory’s driver was non-conforming this week. Yeah. So, he played this week on a backup driver. And then this and everybody’s like, “Oh, well, that’s why he had such a bad time.” And then we’re like, “Well, but so did Scotty.” And he won and never complained. So, can I Which of the two is it? Can I have a small rant about Rory? Go on. So the the the guy wins the Masters all high and mighty, happy, loves the world, right? But then two weeks later he or long it’s been since the Masters. Three, four month later goes to PGA Championship. Stuff doesn’t really go his way. Everyone’s saying Rory uh uh calendar year grand slam calendar slam. And I’m like that’s not that’s that won’t happen. Not even ins. Then he goes, “Okay, I can’t use my driver.” Okay, one tick that was bad. Play like crap. Second tick, that’s bad. I played so bad. Even though people still want to see me and have my opinions on golf, I’m not giving it to him because I played bad. Ding, ding, ding. That’s three in a row. This kid struck out. Three strikes, you’re out, dude. Send him to live. Like, come on. Oh, you got to really quick. You know, can we say one thing? You know that Chad guy that had cancer that was in Black Panther and everybody thought he would just stop working out. Boseman, you just never know what’s in somebody’s social life. So, I’ll give Roy just this much of that. That’s rumored now, too. Hey, you know what? Skywars proof that you can turn your life around. From being a hardened criminal to winning the PGA Championship, anything’s possible. So, there’s hope for Rory to really get things turned around, no matter what he’s going through at this point in his life. Um, Rich, what’ you find? When was Rory? So, so I so I did find uh that it was the testing before Quail Hollow that that was that it was found. So, was non-conforming at Coyle? Yes. Okay. Um, the question I have is since the Masters, how many tournaments has Rory played in? Well, the question because what he doesn’t only hit his driver at tournaments? No, I I’m not saying probably every single day of the week, you don’t think so. What do you think? Like he he just like warms up and goes out and plays at the uh Zurich, you know? I I don’t know. I don’t know what his his practice schedule is cuz obviously he barely even made the cut this week. So, I don’t know. This whole club thing, is this only for drivers or does this happen to your your woods? Say you have a hybrid in there or like your irons. Does that happen? Um, or is it just technology? No, their non-conforming wouldn’t be about the thinness of the face because the faces are super thick. Um, but I guess potentially it could be with the the woods. Um, it could be. It could be the with the irons. I know you’re only allowed so deep of grooves and also so shallow of grooves and stuff like that. So that could be non-conforming to those. Yeah. Yeah. How do you feel about the the year of the woods? The year of the woods. The fairway woods. We like all the years of Tiger Woods, Josh. Oh jeez. No, they’re they’re saying this is the year of the fairway woods. Well, it is like uh I think it was Was it Colin who was using a ninewood? Somebody’s got a ninewood out there. I can’t wait till we’ve got like a like a 14wood. You know what I mean? Give me my 58. No, that’s round one. You have 58 wood. Hey, is there a rule on how many clubs can go in your bag or have to go in your bag? No, it’s 14 and it doesn’t You don’t need 14. But then if you’re playing like say like a you and me are on a team, our clubs have to equal 14 together if you’re going to use any of my clubs or I’m going to use any of your clubs. Gotcha. And then of the 14, I heard this somewhere and I should be totally wrong. Are you required to use every club in your bag at one point during the weekend? No. Oh, absolutely not. Oh, okay. Okay. My four iron so lonely in that bag just sitting there going, “Why is you like me?” I’m like, “Cuz I don’t need you. I’m on the last hole and I have to hit it.” Um, I want to talk about Windham Clark. Speaking of frustrating moments. Um, so I love this. Windham Clark. A little frustrated, not having a great time and he’s uh standing on tape, hits driver. It’s not even like it was terrible. goes in a bunker. It’s not like, you know, he like banana sliced it off three holes over or something like that. But the dude gets straight up pissed, turns around, whips his driver. Okay, T-Mobile hat right into the T-Mobile sign. I mean, like you’re you’re A1 plus sponsor right going across your forehead and you blast your driver right into the T-Mobile sign. There’s not a chance that the people who write his checks were pumped about that. That’s all I’m saying. You make Gary laughs already froze. I went back in my chair like this. Yeah, dude. All right, guys. My health inspector just showed up. I got to bounce cuz I have to go over there for this. All right, Rich. Well, uh you do what you got to do and uh we’ll either see you in a bit or next week. Gary wants first mustache ride. Dibs over there. Okay. Please edit that out. Yeah, don’t let that in there at all. All right. Thank you, Rich. Thanks, guys. I I’ll see you guys around next week. I see Rich. How about Brooks Kepka? Oh, dude. Dude, catching some strays from some fans. Gary, did you did you happen to see what went down with Brooks and some fans? Please elaborate for those that haven’t. Okay, I would love to. So, here’s Brooks. He’s walking off the course um in the sort of player corral, walking in between some uh like fan, you know, hospitality areas. And as he’s walking, a fan yells over to him something to the effect of because he wasn’t playing well. Score was not looking pretty. He’s like, “Oh, that’s what happens when you go to live and take all the money or something like that.” And Brooks turns and looks at him and goes, “You want to come down here and say that?” And the guy’s like, “What? I said, “Do you want to come down here and say that?” Dude, Brooks was ready to go. He I mean, he was straight. I mean, first of all, he’s pissed about the way he’s playing. You know what I mean? Like, you got to be frustrated. Yeah. He’s probably already ready to just go slam some clubs. And and then to get somebody to throw that out there, uh, that’s that is tough. And didn’t he win the PGA Championship when he was still when he just started in live? Yeah. Yeah, he was a Liv player. He won the PGA champion. Oh, no. It was US Open. Sorry. Was it US Open? I thought it was the PG. Well, US Open was 2017 at Aaron Hills. Yeah. But he won his his last PJ championship was right at the very beginning of his live um career, if you will. Uh you know, the life seems to be comprised of all these people that can’t do what people are doing that talk [ __ ] about it. And I’m getting sick of that. Like I feel Brooks’s pain with the Hey, you want to come down here and say that? All right. I didn’t think so. He’s going to be getting calls at his hotel room. Yeah. Hey Gary, someone’s gonna be yelling at your window like, “You want to come down here and say that?” Uh, Terrell Hatton, he’s um he’s going to owe some money, isn’t he? Yep. So, what happened there? He was he was uh he was swearing it up while the mics were on. It makes it to a live broadcast, which obviously means that most likely the um the television network is being fined. Do they just pass those fines along right to the player? You know, I I don’t know. Well, I think uh depending on the sport, I think you get like a warning. Yeah. For every tournament if or if every year he probably ran out. My favorite part was he was actually holding his driver like pointing at it like yelling at it. He was like reprimanding the driver like swearing at he’s like you. I’m like I have never seen somebody personally attack their club in such like an intimate manner. Um I I I think he’s probably one of the most entertaining angry golfers probably out there. Probably. You think he makes up with it later on. He’s like, “I love you. I’m sorry, baby.” He’s just It’s like Why is there wet spot on your driver? Don’t worry about it. Well, and like his driver’s in the bag facing away from him. He’s like, “Come on, I didn’t mean it.” You know, he’s like, “Please don’t. Come on. We’ll hit some balls later.” I swear his club cover is like a a woman. By the way, Dan, thanks for even putting me in the realm of me hitting the ball hard anymore. I appreciate that. You know, Gary, I’ll uh I’ll glaze you from time to time. It’s like once every two years, but I hold on to it. Well, you know what? Maybe down there in Florida is where uh you really see your the pound town make its way back. Maybe it’s the mustache G. I don’t know. Rich could be on to something here. Well, if Rich has it, maybe I’ll do it. I wish I can. Yeah, me either. I got I got nothing, you know. I don’t know. Josh throws it like down here only. I I don’t know what’s up with my beard. I literally You’re like You’re like a wolf guy that like is 20% unloaded. You get a neck stash? Yeah, I get I get definitely neck beard. Hey, do you guys see uh free food at the PGA Championship? What? Yeah, for completely free food. So, what they’re doing is this. It’s called the championship plus ticket. And they they did this for a lot of reasons. Um first of all, it was to Yeah. for convenience, you know what I mean? Everybody coming in and you know, but second was the lines. There’s always lines for food because once you order, they got to get your food and then you stand there and then you got to like pay and it takes forever. I will say the Masters has mastered speeding up concession lines. I mean, of course, they mastered everything. Um, but these guys decided to take it one step further and just include it like an all-inclusive all-in-one price ticket and and the food’s completely free. It’s just I mean it’s included. Free is the wrong term. I don’t think free is the way you should explain it because it’s sort of prepaid. If if your ticket price goes up, it’s not free. Um, you know, it’s kind of like are the peanuts on an airplane free or would you kind of pay for them? I don’t know. It’s a service included. That’s pretty bad service if that’s all you’re getting for free. But I thought the best part was they had these um these snack shops and these food uh concession stand places all over the course and you could walk in at any time, grab something to drink, grab some sandwiches, grab some chips, some snacks, get yourself like a nice oatmeal cream pie. Who doesn’t love one of those while you’re out there watching golf? Quick question. Is this a separate like a little bit more expensive ticket than the normal ticket or is this everyone’s ticket? There is no separate ticket. This is everyone. You are in the gates, you got food. Well, that was the great part. So, you didn’t have to show a credential, a pass, a wristband. Like, if you are on the grounds, go in and have food. Enjoy. Cuz I saw something on uh I wrote it down about a uh family pass. Oh, well, yeah. I don’t know what that’s about. Maybe that’s like a discount for buying multiples and kids and stuff like that. Uh but I tell you what, you want to know the deal? Yeah. Uh allowing up to two children under the age of 15 to enter for free with paying adult. Oh, that’s kind of nice. That’s pretty cool. Yeah, growing the game. We’re growing the game. Yo, this is totally wrong. But how much do you think three speed passes at Universal cost yesterday? I don’t know. What are speed pass? Is that like fast pass? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, I got three of them. Probably 120 each or total? Total. Oh my god. I know. I bet you they were $200 each or more. I don’t know. Debt on the money, Dan. $600. You lazy ass. Just wait in line. Off. Three hours for Harry Potter, dude. All right, keep going. I I can’t. I didn’t do it. I didn’t want to do it. You should have watched the movie in line. Let me just tell Yeah, that’s facts. Let me just tell you, though. S uh Starduster at Universal. Best coaster you’ll ever ride. Amazing. Gosh, Gary, if you were at the PGA Championship and you had access to unlimited free Gatorade, how many are you drinking? 14 easily a day. An hour. Yeah, 14 an hour. He’s he’s about a 14 hour. Funny story about Gatorade with me. So, in college, we always brought snacks. Promise me the story is worth it. It is worth it. So, in college, we would we would bring our own drinks and food for the tournaments in college. And I would bring my own because parents were complaining that I was drinking them too fast. So I had an eight pack in my book bag. So I’m just and I do it on purpose just to be a little ass. I chug it. I’m chugging like slamming Gatorades. And then by the time I get to the eighth one and that’s about when I break the seal of Gatorade and my pee turns blue. That should not be good. I know. There’s no way that that’s good. It turned blue and I’m like, “Hey, coach, I think I got to cool it on the Gatorades.” Uh, well, let me just tell you, Josh, it’s better than when I have whiskey and it’s completely yellow. All right, guys. I don’t think you’re talking about this. I have no concept, but I I will tell you something I do want to talk about. You guys know at a lot of these tournaments, they, you know, you can upgrade your ticket. You can get different hospitality passes. You know, I did that at the BMW Championship a couple years ago where I bought all of them and did a video review. That’s nuts. They get pretty pricey. They do. Well, I mean, you know, it’s it’s anywhere from like several hundred to many hundred dollars to get some of these and above and beyond. Thousands. Thousands. Uh I love this. T-Mobile. Okay. If you if if you have a T-Mobile device, if you have a T-Mobile phone in your pocket or anything of any sort, you get to go in to their entire hospitality thing for free. Yeah. I got a T-Mobile now. Dude, I’m telling you, I I’m not going to lie. Like, man, I thought that was a pretty cool little perk for just having the right kind of phone in your pocket. And let me tell you, like the first thing I enjoyed about it was the wall of air conditioning I hit. That alone, that alone made it worth paying my phone bill every single month. Uh, but then you get in there, there’s TVs, there’s couches, refreshments, like the whole thing. Uh, you know, I’m not going to lie. To me, that is a sponsorship activation that I can get on board with right there. You got T-Mob. I got T-Mobile. I flashed the phone, shown it around a little bit. You know, when when we when I first got my first phone, like back when I was in fifth grade or sixth grade, the last year and Yeah. Thanks. we had T-Mobile, but this is when T-Mobile went through the really bad phase and now they picked it up and it’s one of the best now. Oh, dude, it’s lightning fast. I am so upset that I don’t have T-Mobile anymore because of all the perks that they give everyone wherever you go. Like T-Mobile Field, you get some at T-Mobile Field when you go to the baseball game in Seattle. Jeez. Well, I know like at some like concerts they’ll have these things and you can go like charge your phone cuz you know everybody’s phone’s dying. Let’s go let’s go to a championship. You, me, Rich, and Josh. And then we’ll go eat at T-Mobile and then we’ll wait for Josh outside. Yeah. We’ll be like It’s so cold in here. We’ll be out in a while cuz it’s Josh. Can you bring me my jacket? I’m bringing one of the other iPhones. Yeah. Well, here here’s here here’s here’s what I got in the works, guys. All right. You know, you got the works. I was chatting with the T-Mobile gang. I’m like, well, this is great. You guys are at the PJ Championship. Where else are you going to be? They’re like, oh, we’re going to be at the RDER Cup. Oh, I was like, really? I don’t know. Maybe uh maybe we could work something out. Maybe. I don’t know. Maybe uh something something. So, I don’t know. Who knows? Who knows? Who knows? It’s all pie in the sky. It’s all maybe they’re just being nice to me cuz, you know, they want to, you know, break my little heart. But maybe on a long shot we can get something going. Maybe little uh T-Mobile action with the Dan’s Golf World Show come the Ryder Cup. We should try to get all four of us out there. I’m tell Dude, that’s that’s the only way. Here I am telling all these stories, you know. I feel like if now we would have, you know, obviously an exponential amount of stories from everybody, not just my own. Do you know what sucks is like I I picked you up from the airport yesterday. You sure did. I appreciate that. First thing I wanted to talk about was the PGA Championship, but like at the same time like I don’t want to talk about too much cuz I still want to have that true reaction to what we talk about here. I know. Like it’s the whole save it for the show thing. Yeah. Dan will text me like throughout the whole week and we’ll like it’ll be like 2 in the morning and we’re talking about what happened that day. So you it’ll genuinely be there and if anything you could just tee it up for him better. But Dan, do you know what course this is behind me? Um, not at the moment. Not for this. Ang with a hills. Oh, that’s pretty much our new home course. You know, we’re we’re Aaron Hills guys now. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, Josh. Oh, good news. I did have a couple notes here. Um, you can bring up to two guests with you for just um being with T-Mobile. So, we could still get you. I’m in. Don’t worry. You’re fine. I’m the help. Uh I I also thought the other interesting thing um I was chatting with some of the folks in the team there. They were saying that they help provide like technological infrastructure. So like powering all of the the point of sale systems or all the shot link systems and stuff like that. So they bring out what they call like a private network. So it’s not like the same cell phone network that we’re all on. They launch a private network that that the entire course then runs on can’t be slowed down by like crowds of people and everybody like you know trying to you know chat. That’s almost like the uh BMW, ain’t it? Or not to be Mercedes or whatever the other the AT&T over at, you know, but Josh, I’m trying to get something going with team over here, so shut up. Oh, I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Jesus Christ. Gary, could you tell him over here? Like, what does he do? I was just comparing it. I was comparing it. Uh, no. I just say also that the editing has been awesome, Josh. You’ve been doing wonderfully. Thank you. You really have this the show. You know what, Josh? I you know I uh I wanted I want three glazes a year. I I um I wanted to bring you something back. Oh, here there I brought you something back to say thank you for all your hard work. It’s the bracelet that gets you into the T-Mobile booth. Oh, terrible throw. Threw it on the hammer. Hey, you guys want to see what else I got? Yeah. All right. This isn’t all of it, but this is some of it. Um you know, I I decided to just grab like a little hat. Oh my god. They’re not presents. Oh, he goes on Gizmo. Dude, it’s a perfect fit. Now he’s a PJ championship Gizmo. He’s, you know, looking down clearance. I’m glad you have nothing to say about that. That’s right. You stay quiet. Uh, you know, on the last day they were doing 40% off a bunch of stuff. A I know. I know. So, like on day one, I go buy this like cool towel. You know, it’s kind of nice, right? Oh, yeah. It’s a good looking towel. It’s simple. Yeah. Yeah. And I went back and like the same towel is like 40% off. So I just bought it again in another color. Actually, no. That one looks a little nicer. It’s got the trophy in the back. Oh, see I I got more for my money. You sucked one of those bad boys up. Jesus. Um and I I don’t collect flags at every course I go to, but I do try and collect them at all the majors. So I got this year’s PJ Championship flag. Now, is that is every single one of them 18 or is it like um they had white ones that were just the logo and then they had the yellow ones with the 18. Um so I have no idea why you couldn’t get like a four. No, they did not have a whole four flag. Oh, a four. I like four. And of course, I have another um credential to add to my uh heap of credentials. So, you know. Hey, do you think that hat will fit your baby? You think it’s too small? No. No. My baby’s like me. has got a humongous head already, so not a chance. Uh, yeah, I know. It’s fun. Fun. So, today I’m going to play White Hog or Hawk’s Landing, and it’s like 70 bucks rather than $190 price tag. Nice. So, so I I actually last year broke a very good score there. So, let’s see if we could get even close to there. Do you got any numbers today? Well, um, what’ you shoot there last year? I don’t want to tell you. Oh, all right. I think you’re going to come in wicked low. I think you’re going to play great. You got good energy. We’ve been talking about Scotty Sheffller. I think you’re shooting an 86. [Music] Hey, I I’m thinking Hey, what’ you say, Dan? I said 86. I’m gonna say I’m gonna say uh 78. That’s a fair guess. That’s a little more polite. What What’s Dan’s real guess? Uh, actually, I swear on everything I think 78 was going to be my number. Okay. Yeah. Telepathy over here. The only two people in the studio. I’m coming with a 74. 74. Nice. Look at you. I I broke I broke 70 here last year and I played in under two hours. Is this going to be one of those Tik Toks where you you say what you’re going to shoot and then the next shot is with a score of a 100? Just shake it. I swear to God though on everything holy the other day I shot a 4644 where at a super simple course called Oak Springs but it was like my Were you blindfolded round? Huh? I said were you blindfolded bro? It was like my 13th round in three days or something. Oh let me tell you about this hole I got exhausted. So we’re playing a par4. It’s a par three course, but there’s par fours in there. And I hit a beautiful three-wood shot about 80 about 60 yards to the pin, right? Beautiful. Just a just a glory shot. But the green So it goes green literally maybe 10 yards forest and then downhill. The green goes downhill into water. Guess what I shot in that hole? Eight. More. Oh my god. 10. Four. 14 lower 12 13 Oh my god. I put it in I put it in the water three times. God bless you for for for sticking it out and and putting like keeping us a score all the way up to 13. I mean I don’t know. Dan gets the double bogey. He’s over. I’m done. I’m going to tear up the scorecard and I’m going home. No, we’re very we’re very like we barely give gimmies. Why? Cuz I I don’t know. Well, I prefer to give gimmies, but I do understand because we’re still learning how to play the game. Why though? Why is it though the the worse the golfer, the more I don’t know, they they they try to the harder they try and make it. Well, because our gimme ranges are a lot shorter. Like, it’s got to like they’re like one foot. We’re looking at like two feet. Like probably less than two feet for uh No, it’s usually club length. Yeah, I’m I’m ging up to like three and a half feet unless you irritate me. And then we were playing that uh card game, too, which was fun. That bag cards. Were you guys playing for anything? Like, was there a bet, a wager, the loser has to clean everybody’s clubs? Like, is there anything on the line? Oh, man. Then why don’t you give gimmies? We play for pride. Just it literally it’s like nothing on the line. I am just opting in to be an [ __ ] I think why we don’t play gimmies is because of the fact that we suck and it’s an opportunity for all of us to potentially like move cuz we just we don’t when we play uh our skill levels are all relatively bad. Like one one of my buddies is a little bit better than us, but like we could compete. So that’s like an opportunity for us to catch a couple strokes. Yeah, that’s fair. You know what I want to do? I want to play against Dan for like $100. everything is down and just see what just see the mental grit and you and and part of the money you get 10 extra dollars if you if you mentally and ethically like your etiquette’s grit. All right. Only if I get to decide what you consume that day. I’m in. Oh, all day. I’m in. I’m totally in. Wait, like all day? like all like like I like Yeah. Yeah. Like like like if things aren’t going wonderful and you maybe want to grab a drink from the cart girl. I get to yay or nay that. I mean that’s okay. Okay. You know what? I’m done. We’re doing it. And Josh, when I come back, we’re playing one-handed and you’re playing Oh my god. It’s never happened. I want to take you. That 13 just riled me up, baby. I mean, that’s what’s crazy, though. like to be getting a 13 on a hole and still putting it out at one foot. It’s like at that point it’s like, dude, pick it up. You’re good. Like listen, you you’ve got a three-footer. You you’ve already 12 strokes deep. Like, I’m not going to make you putt it out. Yeah. All All I got to say is I gotten two tenses in my entire life. And the one time I got it 10, the kid got an eagle. And I looked over at him. I go, “I’m so sorry.” He’s like, “No, I got an eagle.” Well, I mean, all right. What we got going? What we got going? Well, I’m trying to get us over to next weekend’s tournament. The Charles Schwab challenge, Fort Worth, Texas. Scotty Sheffller’s backyard. The old Dallas Fort Worth. He’s a Dallas guy. He’s a He’s a regular Dallas Cowboy. Um, does Scotty Sheffller just keep it rolling? like wins PJ Championship, jumps on his humongous jet, flies down there, goes straight to the range, and just stays just just I mean, we’re talking white hot. This guy is just boiling over with talent. Does he predictions right now? Does Scotty Sheffler just keep the freight chain rolling and win? Yeah, I mean, look at the field. For sure. Or wink. Well, look at the field. Uh I have uh I wrote down actually this week, you guys told me there’s no odds. I wrote down the odds this week and put it in odds order. Oo, I like this a lot, Josh. And uh Scotty Shuffler is plus 250 compared to the next person is Jordan Speed with plus 2200. Wow. Even Vegas only thinks Scotty Shuffler’s going to win, which by the way, I was a terrible pick of mine for uh Jordan Sp. Dude, so are since Rich isn’t here, are we what are we doing? We’re just going to We’ll redo picks later this week. No. Um, let’s make our picks and um I don’t know. We’ll fly Rich’s pick in maybe in editing or something like that. I don’t know. We’ll have to figure it out. We’ll just talk about it on the next show. All right. So, who won? Didn’t I pick Scotty? All right. Let me do my breakdown. Go ahead, Josh. All right. Our picks for the PGA Championship. Uh, so I guess we did a terrible job this week before I do the rundown. Uh, three of us did not get any points. Zero. First first with me, Justin Rose, uh, plus nine with Yeah, that would have been huge with 10,000 odds. Yeah. Next was Dan with Jordan Sp. He had 5,000 odds. And then Rich Justin Thomas plus three, plus 2,200. But then Gary uh with Scotty Sheffller first place with 425 points. You times that by four that is I believe 16 something or no that would be 1,700 1,700 points for Gary which I messed up. All right Gary with the outright win. Very nice. I I messed up the math so the points are different. So, all right. Well, when Rich is back, we’ll What a day. What a day for the boys. You Gary, how’s it feel, Gary? Qu get a couple words for all your fans out there how it feels to take this big win. You know, it’s like choosing like who’s going to win in a one-man race and you pick that one guy and you know he’s going to win and his name is Scotty Sheffler and and beating all you guys doesn’t feel like much of a win, but no, I’m just kidding. It was a great time and uh I’m so happy for Scotty and uh I’m gonna get my my pick first, right? Uh one second. I am doing the math. I thought last goes first. Uh last goes first for picks for picks for our picks in order. Yeah. So the order is me, Rich, Dan, Gary. All right. Cuz my guy was the lowest. Yeah. Also, let’s put on the fact that who has picked actual winners. Like I’ve picked an actual winner. Who else has picked an actual winner? Rich. Somebody did. Like Minimu uh it was Min Wu Lee. Didn’t Rich be an actual winner? Yeah, Rich. I think I believe you and Rich are the only two to have an outright winner. You haven’t an outright winner, right? No. D hasn’t even made the cut yet. Oh, shut up, Gary. These guys with grudge. I won last week. I was the last winner. Yeah. What are you even talking about? Yeah, I’ve never seen someone so bad at this game as you until you win this week outright. Yeah. So, uh, whatever. I’m first. I’m gonna unplug your screen. I I don’t know what to do here cuz there’s really not a big field. I mean, we got Tommy Fleetwood, Jordan Spatsuyama. Uh Neil Shipley’s in the field though and Blades Brown. Oh, go Blades Brown, Josh. Oh, I don’t know because I mean you got you got people on the bottom here that have potential to win. Like Kevin Ker could win. All right, moving along. What is your pick, Mr. Josh? Um, you know what? Kevin Ker is not gonna win. I am going to go with Michelle Wei. No, I’m gonna go with Michael Block. I’m gonna go with the Maverick. I’m going with Maverick McNeely at plus 3,000. I mean, that’s the that’s the real question. It’s like how deep do you want to go with somebody who all they have to do is make the cup and you make the cut and you win in points for the week. I believe he’s in writer contention. I I still can’t say my favorite statement on this show and I have filtered it through my my ore a thousand times. Well, good. What we want you to do is hold it in forever. Um, all right. It goes to me since Rich isn’t here. Uh, Rich automatically loses. Um, no, no, no. We’ll we’ll figure out how to get his picket here. Yeah, we I’ll text him. Umh Kobe Flewood. You know what? What if Kobe Flewood’s first win is the win that Dan picks for him here? Dude, wouldn’t that be so special? Do it. Well, I feel like you’re tricking me right now. No, no, no. I would I want both of you guys to win in glorious harmony. And when you watch that video together of yourselves, you’ll love it. What you want to do is for us to not pick Scotty Shuffler so you could pick him so you can have two weeks in a row and win. I’d say no. You know what the sad thing is though, G? I’d say for total points. Uh I’m down. You’re you’re in third still. Like you’re behind me. All right. No, I’m winning though. You know what? I was uh I was doing some filming over by the the driving range on some of the practice rounds and I was doing some slow motion filming of golf swings and I filmed Tommy Fleetwood for for one of the many swings. I watched it a lot. I watched it a real lot. I that swing that swing is something special. I’ll tell you what, boys. It’s the rotation at the top of the hands and the club head. The way it just shallows out at the top. Like it doesn’t come up and over. It’s not Oh my god. Do you know what? You’re going to be ramped up to golf here, guys. Like, do you know how you’re obsessed with uh Fleetwood swing? Thank you. Uh, I’m obsessed with watching I don’t even care who it is, but if you have a clean wedge shot and you have a splash divot rather than like just like a chunk, like a splash where it’s a wide and it just goes out. Oh yeah, [Music] that is uh that’s what keeps me up late. Fine. You know what? Fine. I’m taking Tommy Fleetwood. I am. You know what, Gary? Screw you. Everybody just I’m taking Tommy Fleetwood. You know what? is at some point this guy is going to win at the PGA Tour and there’s no way it’s not going to happen. And you’re right, Gary, I do want to back him on that week because he’s my dog. We fast forwarded. It’s like wood through week 790. Everybody’s got 2.4 million points and I’m picking Tommy Fleetwood still. We love Tommy. We want Tommy to win. We’re big Tommy Fleetwood boys over here. So Tommy, if you’re ever watching and you ever come on the show, we love you. And Gary’s pick will be Scotty Shuffler. You’re going to get no points. Yeah, dude. I don’t care. All I have to do is make the cut and I will beat you in points. If he if he wins, he gets a thousand points. Yeah. Good for good get with him and his fake points with with people that didn’t even like almost make the cut and he’s somehow in the lead of me who picking the winners. It’s called a game. You should learn how to play it. Listen, mister. I love you. Thank you, Gary. Um I don’t know. Is there anything else about this? Thank you, Gary. Uh is there anything else about this tournament we need to talk about or um do the details of the Charles Schwab challenge not really matter at this point? Um I mean it’s Hogan’s Alley. Oh, well it’s Hogan’s Alley. Okay, everybody. Nice. It’s uh for Ben Hogan’s five wins at Colonial. Oh, that’s kind of That’s like Rory’s Quail Hollow almost. Yeah, but I mean that guy’s got a he’s got a statue of him. Well, that’s that’s fortunate. Royals will show up if they make one for him. So, he’s got a statue right outside of the clubhouse and he’s actually has a showcase room called the Hogan Room, which I could not find any pictures of. Um, top secret. And then in 2003, Anakah Saran Sorenson got made headlines for becoming the first woman in 58 years to compete in the PGA Tour event at Colonial. Oh, nice. All right, they should build her a statue and then a room that nobody can find pictures of. We’ll have to just believe it exists. All right, guys. That’s it. I think that’s all we got. Gary, you got some golf to play. I uh I I’m in Illinois. It’s cold again. I apparently I’m not going to be golfing again. What a loser. What a loser. I know. Whatever. That’s because you didn’t bring me with. Thanks a lot. I would love fast pass and all your fun you’re having. Wait, Ty, watch out. Here’s my goal. I am going to Bay Hill one of these days and I’m going to just sit there and make a friend and then get asked to play because you can only play in Bay Hill is if you’re a member and or if a member asks you or if you stay on their property. So that is my goal for this week. You’re like, I am staying because you can’t make me leave. So, I’m staying on the property. I’m I’m I’m staying right here. Dude, Bay Hill, I mean, like what? Tiger won there like six times or something. And he like, dude, it’s it’s magical. Yeah, that’s actually the first place I’ve ever seen Tiger in real life in 1996. Wow, you’re old. I was before I was born. I got to go golf. You guys have a great day. Uh, next week, next week show is going to be uploaded a day later. Oh, yeah. We got a special show next week. We’re going to be Oh, we do. We do. I can’t wait, dude. Well, I’ll just say this much. We’re going to be off location. The the studio will be somewhere else and we’re going to be doing this whole thing from somewhere. Very cool. Well, I’m so that Gary can’t even contain himself. I mean, look at him. Look at him. Look at him right there. He’s like a kid on Christmas. I know. Dan’s like, “We’re gonna be playing a lot more golf.” When I saw 12:30 to 4:30, I’m like, “What? I dare you say too much.” All right, guys. That’s it. And we’ll catch you next week right here on the Dance Golf Show, brought to you by the one and only Sports Illustrator. [Music]
