Justin Rose taking the opening T-shot just as he did in yesterday’s morning’s foresomes. today. He’ll be looking to shepherd big Chris Wood through his Rder Cup debut. Not bad there. flew the bunker on the left which is 300 odd yards on the T. Good entry in the United States of America. Zack Johnson. [Applause] a complete wall of death. He got off to a slow start yesterday morning as well and seemed to catch fire toward the end of the round. USA. Jimmy Walker out of the bunker at the first. Second shot. Well, a pretty good shot. Yes. Back down the slope, but not the easiest shot in the world out of that bunker. Chris Wood first shot in Ryder Cup golf. They’d like to play it off shorter [Music] grass. Punching it through under the branches. That was well played. [Applause] Little bit unlucky run all the way through, but that was a good shot. Yeah, Zack Johnson. Two excellent putters. this American team. [Applause] [Music] Well, he played it very, very well. Kind of shot that player of this level will expect to hold. Not every time, but certainly half of the time probably. [Applause] [Applause] Zack Johnson his second shot at the second right at the flag. Beautiful shot. Released a little bit more than he would like but still a good looking birdie Jimmy Walker to win the second. Stay up. Europe. Still has a putt for par. See the marker there. Chris Wood even with his height and he’s a big fella. Can’t see where that ball is going to land but he’d be delighted with the result. St. Andrews put away from the hole but on the green. So far away, you can probably hardly see it. Eagle putt. What a touch. Brilliant. And Jamie Walker has this for a half. Wonderful cutting stroke. Beautiful rhythm. Plenty of green to work with though. Zack Johnson at the fourth from the bunker. very good biker player and not too bad. Little stabby one here for Justin Rose back in the stance. That’s going to nudge it at the fourth. Jimmy Walker this for the half. That’s the strength of his game as well. Very good player. [Applause] [Music] He’s driving at five. For someone who putts as well as Ricky Fowler, that’s a mystery. That was a huge misread by by Zack Zack. Sorry. Yeah. Did I say Ricky Fowler? Warren. Hello. Now this for par Jimmy Walker. Watch this stroke. Thing of beauty. But not good result. Jimmy Walker, the US PGA Champion, having missed this putt, gives Wood, who won the BMW PGA Championship in Europe, the chance to win the hole. [Music] Played it to go left in the other way. So no change in that match. Just one birdie a piece, one bogey a piece. The seventh second shot by Jimmy Walker. [Applause] Jimmy low runner. Not a bad shot. all the way to the back of the green, but had much to work with the rough. Had to keep it low. Chris Wood right in the middle of the fairway. [Music] Watch out for the spin. It’s okay. Jimmy Walker at eight responds to the t-shirt. [Applause] Well, we know this putt swings a lot from left to right. Justin Rose trying to make the two here on seven. It’s a pretty good effort. Just a little bit too high, but nice roll. Quick puck. Zack Johnson to win the eighth. Of course, the potting has been very good today. That’s way down there. That’s a long way, isn’t it? You could throw it on the green underarm from there. Pictures 10th Justin Rose down the hill. [Applause] Johnson in response to Rose. Another splendid shot. Walker’s missed the birdie p. So this is a chance to win the 10th for Chris Wood. [Applause] Third shot for Justin Rose to the par five ball away to the right. So not much in that either. Rose getting hurt by the spin across the green here for a birdie four to win the hole. [Applause] move at all. Allowed for a couple of cups left there, Jimmy, but nowhere near it. Long birdie putt from Chris Wood. Pretty solid rider cup debut for Woody playing with Justin Rose. Not a great chip by Jimmy Walker. He’s left this for Zack Johnson for the half at 12. Takes it out. 253 yds. All three Justin Rose soft cracker right down the flag from Justin Rose. [Applause] Z Johnson has just seen Justin Rose knock it in. Pretty close. Good chance coming for the Europeans. What’s the American reply like? It’s another cracker. Two terrific T- shots there. M. Not absolutely up against the collar, but enough just to impede the cutting stroke already. He’s done with his little up. Seen a lot of those, Doogie, haven’t we? Given the situation the Americans laid up, you do not miss it left. That’s unlike Justin Cardinal error there, John. A big error. Unbelievable. You don’t, like you say, don’t expect that from him. Yeah, absolutely. So, they’ve taken the drop. This is Woods. Wood playing the fourth shot for the Americans in tight. So, this hole looks like a goner. Pretty good shot. Rose needs this and Walker has to miss. Or rather, Johnson has to miss from Walker’s [Applause] pitch. Such a great fire. He’s asking the question of Zach Johnson. Up to the task. Let’s get it to get it back to just one down. Two holes left. Oh, looked like he almost pulled it, didn’t it? That’s what I thought. Yeah. Down with two to go. If the Americans get something out of this match, it’ll be a body blow for Europe. This one’s gone a long way right to start with. Is it coming back on the wind? Not enough. This is the green lucky to get up. Nice. [Music] [Applause] That’s a beautiful shot. Just what he wanted. Right line maybe in between cuts. Just could have done without going on a fraction, but in the circumstances, perfectly played. A lot of loft on it. Well, back in his stance trying to trap it first. Dangerous distance. Basically, it seemed to come out quite chunky as if he’d almost not got it right and yet it just kept on rolling and rolling. [Music] Perfect one. Struck it well. Just an ounce harder. Would have got the job done. Had a nice putt at the previous hole. It’s not only a putt to have, it’s a putt not to lose, isn’t it? A little more added pressure. Should make this 99 times out of 100. He took all the break out of it. Pulled it right in the back. Courageous stroke. Well done. [Applause] So they’ll go up the 18th. That’s the real surprise for me as we go to 18t and Jimmy Walker. Find the fairway. Okay. All right. Good job. [Music] [Applause] both in about the same place. Flag back right five pieces off the right side of the green. Right up the back of the green, too. Normally likes to draw the ball. [Applause] I did it. Ch. Wow. [Applause] To 18 Rose. Chance here for Europe to put the pressure really on their opponents. Into the heart of the green from Justin Rose. And that’s exactly what he had to do. No more, no less. A good shot on the 17th, but this is a lot harder. A lot more grass to carry. Face wide open. [Music] Gave it a run. Almost impossible to stop it by carrying it on the green. You’d have to get a little bit lucky. Landed short. He’s putted well all day. He hasn’t hold an awful lot, but he has putted well. Needs one more good one. Or you just try and hold it. My goodness me, what a great P. Brilliant play. Well done, Chris Wood. Well done, Justin Rose. It’s a point for Europe. They win one up against Timmy Walker and Zack Johnson. They had to work hard for it. Few anxious moments at the end.
