[Applause] [Music] This is Quail Hollow Club and it’s ready for this championship Sunday. Rory Mroy has been the king of the Queen City of Charlotte, winning here four times. And he has the course record. He’s looking for another magical day at the [Music] PGA. Just a few hours left. For one man, today will be one of those memories that returns to him on his deathbed. I’ve got a lot of great players chasing me on the leaderboard. I got to go out there and have another really good round. Oh, he’s got a shot at this tomorrow. For everyone else in contention, it will be a lost feeling that they can’t quite recon and an experience to learn from and also try to forget. You know, it’s just going to be a really good fight. Everybody’s going to have their foot on the pedal. And when you see those big names and heavyweights up there, you’re going to have to earn it. It’s going to be nuts. It’s a Sheffller showcase performance. Luminaries have been rising up the ranks here. Get your popcorn. You just have to play a great round of golf. It’s what you dream of. This is why we play. You know what they say, never miss a Sunday show. It’s the final round of the PGA Championship. ESPN Plus and the PGA of America welcome you to the final round of the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina with the 1996 PGA Champion Mark Brooks and Andre Gonzalez. I’m Taylor Zarzer. Honored to be here at Quail Hollow on this championship Sunday. Our group features twotime PGA champion Rory Maroy and South Africa’s Christian Bazaden Hoten. They’re off in three minutes on the first TE. Mark Brooks Rory is looking for something special today to put his signature on this Sunday. No question about that. I think his low round this place is 61 or two. 61 you said. Well, you would know. Course record hangs in the pro shop here at Quail Hollow Club. And you failed to mention you’re one of a handful of esteemed actual members here at Quell Hollow Golf Club or Country Club. Which what which do you all call it? Just Qu Hollow Club. Just club. It is an honor to be here living a few minutes from the course and getting to see the whole world. Well, we’ve leaned on your insider knowledge and we will continue to do so today since you’ve probably seen every inch of this place. That’s a work the first te as the starter at the president’s cup a few years ago Brooksie and I got to introduce Christian Bazadenho he is a worldass player and he plays with one of the game’s biggest stars and they’ve arrived here early this morning to watch him biggest moment of his professional life coming last month that Augustine National Golf Club completing that career grand slam. We’re not going to have to worry about a weather warning horn going off. Looks perfect out there. In fact, we know it’s perfect out there. Tell us about the first. Well, it’s a stout opener. Slings to the right. These guys actually have to cut the corner here to keep it out of that bunker. 328 is in their wheelhouse. Today’s whole location is front right. It’s actually quite accessible for these guys. They’ve already had a handful of birdies here today. They uh they they’re good at taking a 500 yard par four to its knees. It’s going be driver and wedge or nine iron. Good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the 107th PGA Championship. This is our 950 starting time. First on the tea from South Africa, Christian Bazadote. [Applause] [Music] Happy birthday to Christian Bazadenhot. 31 years old today. He’s looking for his first top 25 finish. in a major championship. Starts the day tied for 49th, but certainly could rise up the board with one in the mid60s. Little over overcut there out in the pine straw. Next on the tea, our 2012 and 2014 PGA champion from Northern Ireland, Rory Maroy. He doesn’t live here, but make no mistake, he is a part of our community. He’s won on this golf course four times, and he has made lifelong relationships here. Look at all the people that are out to watch him. just past that bunker and just fine into the first cut. It’s a great angle in probably a gap wedge. He thought he was going to tee off early yesterday morning, but a storm prevented that from happening and the TE’s were bunched up, so he had to wait till after the 1:00 hour. Andreas Gonzalez walked with him and he’s walking with him again. Good morning, Dre. Morning, Taylor. Good morning, Mark. I think the story of this week has just been conditions. Since Friday, there of last week, there has been over 5 in of rain out here. So, early on in the first couple days, there were a lot of mud balls. Yesterday, it started to firm up a little bit. They had high winds gusting over 20 mph. Dried the place out. So, fairways are starting to firm up. And with the subair systems and the technology that Coil Hollow Club has underneath the greens, the first bounce on every one of these green surfaces has been so firm and large. So I think it’s going to be very important for all of these players to stay underneath the hole and really be precise with where they are pitching these golf balls onto the green. But winds are low. These early groups, they need to go out, take advantage, and try to put up a number early because the winds are going to pick up a little bit. Not as much as yesterday, but probably 10 m an hour starting at around noon. Great stuff, Trey. Thank you. I bet we scared him a bit playing that horn from yesterday. You got me after uh just before 8:25 in the morning when Rory was going across the bridge. He was so gutted cuz he wanted to be out there in calm conditions and put a number up. Here are his T-shots all four days. at the first. Still looking for his first birdie of the week and that was his best drive of the week. You said it, playing here with a wedge at the first. And we’ve had to endure, as Dre said, the elements all week. We have a beautiful, a bit warm Sunday forecast today. Well, they’re all wearing these new moisture wicking shirts and they’ve got towels on the bag. It’s perfect weather. I mean, I guess perfect’s like 70°, no wind, but we’ll take we’ll take it. He has been great in all weathers, but especially here in the heat in Charlotte, winning the PGA Tours event here four times in a similar time of year. Yes, I might add. Correct. So, the wind gets going about 4:00 this afternoon. Actually, it may be a little earlier than that around 2, just before the leaders tee off. But milder conditions here this morning. And again, Mark, that’s why Rory wanted to play yesterday morning. and he was a couple minutes from doing so before the horn sounded and they condensed the tea times in the afternoon. Well, the method that they have to employ when they split the TE’s. Unfortunately, the guys that would normally go off first go end up going off last. So instead of finishing around 1:00 yesterday, he finished about 7 p.m. Here’s Badenho for two days was very much in the tournament was four under par going into yesterday, but eight bogeies in round three. Shot 78 77, excuse me. Well, this is a very bad lie in the pine straw sitting down almost in a bit of a bird’s nest. And from 200 yds, he’s not going to have any option but to just try to hit it up over these trees. He’s trying to get it out to that 90 yard number. [Applause] And now Maroy with a clean look here, Greg. I think being in the first cut of rough is going to help him. There’s a bit of a false front or at least pitched into him the first 10 paces of this green. So taking off a little bit of spin out at the first rough is going to be perfect for him landing a short of this hole location. 154 playing down five paces from where he’s at. All right. [Music] [Applause] slipped a little bit right on him. Obviously, it’s just been that kind of week. Just for Rory Mroy just can’t get anything going back to round number one. Started with a birdie but ended up shooting three over 74. Even tried some of that Scotty Sheffler burnt orange. Yeah. On Friday and got it going. He did. He was four under through 10 holes. that birdie at two then here at eight and you thought okay here he comes he was sneaking himself back into before those boat the finish just murdered him and then this is yesterday another birdie at two you made that putt yourself for an important victory [Applause] in a sudden death. Did you not? Yes, [Music] sir. Nine of 18 greens. Not what he’s looking for. That’s the first today. And that shot, Trey, that Rory just hit was a foot away from landing on the green and going towards the hole. But it’s just been that kind of week. He just hasn’t been as clean of his iron shots as he’d like to be when he is hitting good drives. 105 for Ben. This is a par five the rest of the year and it will be tomorrow, but it’s a par4 in the PGA Championship. So, that’s a par putt. threetime winner on the DP World Tour. Have a second place finish on the PGA Tour last year in the Desert of California. He actually received first place money because Nick Dunlap won the event as an amateur player when he was still at the University of Alabama. So they gave Vizadeote first place money. Nick went and got him some NIL money and turn pro. That’s right. All the way down the flat here for Rory. This is not the easiest shot. The greens running away from him very quick. And this club face is laid wide open. Slipped it under there nicely there. Just ripped that sand wedge under the ball. Just watch how little time that club spins in the sand. Very little. Just slipped under there. We discuss his prolific driving ability. Some of the other parts of his game have been scrutinized and people have talked about how much better he’s gotten in terms of precision. His short game is fabulous. Always has been. Well, it’s no secret he’s fought the wedges a little bit o over the last several years, if not some during his entire career. Part of it’s his path. Dre, this was the big struggle for Bzaden Hoot yesterday. 33 putts on these quail hollow greens. Yeah, he was right in it after two rounds. 400 par heading into the weekend and a disappointing 6 over 77 yesterday. Would like to change that trend right here. Left to right and very quick. [Applause] Mark, you mentioned how quickly that club went through the sand there. I mean, I think the average person is going to hit that ball in the forehead and it may end up in the trees on the other side of eight. No doubt. Just under six feet. It is going to have movement to the left. Just split that right edge and hit it with some conviction. [Applause] That is an unforced error from the fairway. Just needed a little more pace. They walk up to the second T and it’s about to be full send for Rory over those trees on the left. You can try a line that’s too far left, but they probably got a large tree picked out. Certainly Rory does. Softer conditions have made it a little easier to hold this fairway that slides hard left to right off the tea. Eighth easiest hole. often most [Applause] difficult. The wind is down compared to yesterday. If anything, just a breath behind these players looked to be fading away from the dog leg. Fighting the rights the first two driver swings today. Pole, please. That tea didn’t go very deep into the ground there. Should be a very high towering full send here. only had 86 yards into this hole yesterday and it looked like he could have hit it further down there. That’s more like it. This is a little more right of where he was yesterday. May need to get down just into the rough. Not a bad angle from there, though. [Music] What a glorious Sunday it’s going to be at Quail. [Music] Let’s take you through the numbers in third round. The lowest round of the day for the number one player in the game. How about that finish, too? Five under over his last five holes here. Four players birding 17 and 18. No one did that in the first two rounds. Green Mau got Bryson though. Bogey at 16. Double bogey hitting it in the water at 17. Shambo starts the day six behind Sheffller. How about that finish for Scotty? Amazing but not surprising. 71 + 8. It’s on 18 97. Yeah. Just trying to get it. You see there’s some people there’s the crane over there and then there’s some people in the white that are just barely in the shade. I think if you’re looking at that area right here, this is pretty much just like coming up. So 97 you can get this seven on 79 probably going to come up better than a six. Yeah. Whatever you know best. The bounce the bounce when this lands the way it looks like it’s going to come out. It’s going to bounce to the right. But we’re probably honestly a better off a little bit right at the people there that are in the just of the sun or barely shade. Just left of the shade that’s in the fairway. If that bounces right, that’s okay. I think that’s better than up on the left, don’t you? Okay. Yeah. All right. Just straight across left to right wind. Not much left to right, but 186. It does play up eight from where he is. This is a nasty lie. He’s going to have to go down and chop this out. Just get something chasing up there. I don’t think this is going to be very high. You were right. Nothing wrong with that. Good place to play your third shot from. It was not a good place to play your second from though, however. True. Royy’s got a very doable lie here. Not going to come out with any spin, but should help him land it short of this ridge. It’s just a few paces short of the pin to get up on top. Came out straight left. Have to be delicate with that next one. Good communication we heard a moment ago from Brandon Parsons with Zayen Ho’s Caddy. There’s Rory Mroy and Harry Diamond who each celebrated the biggest moment of their professional lives last month at Augusta National. I had a chance to visit with him earlier this week, Mark, and he laughed when I said, “I’m not going to ask you how you reset after all these close calls and major championships because you just did it. Instead, I’m going to ask you how do you reset after doing it?” And he said, “It’s hard. you do have to come down from the cloud and level yourself and I think that’s been a challenge this week. Well, this new scheduling fairly new not having this championship in late summer. Condensed the schedule a little bit when that whoever wins that first one, it’s whirlwind for a few weeks and next thing you know they’re they’re right here with the second championship. And these guys such there’s only a handful in Royy’s category, if any. And they do focus on these majors. There’s no question. And it’s the Masters. And you completed the career grand slam. And he said he went back home, caught a little bug. Relatively straightforward pitch here. Yeah, Christian left himself in a great spot. Fairly straight all the way up this slope. May want to die to the right. Little too careful. Speaking of careful, Rory is right up against the primary cut in the first cut. So, he’s going to need to come down a little bit steep on this. And with as quick as this chip is, I think he’s blading this again. Yeah, I think he’s going to as well. I like that play. Bellying the wedge. Belly. Hit it right on the equator of the ball. Just didn’t know if he was going to be able to do that with as much grass as there was behind it. Not my favorite putt from par. up. Might have caught that above the too high above the equator. I’m always afraid of double hitting those things, which is I guess not a penalty anymore, but it’s true. It’s crazy. It’s not. Yeah. TC Chin. It was a penalty for him in the US Open over 40 years ago, but it’s not one now. Really not a lot to this putt. Fairly straight. May want to fall right. But no need to give away the hole here. [Music] Rough weekend continues. That’s 10 bogeies since the start of his round yesterday. Both of those were created by poor T-shots coming off a bogey at the first. I agree with you, Mark. I do not think that this is the most inviting putt for par here at the second. Quick downhill and has to get it outside the hole. And with as fast as it is, you cannot hit it really aggressive. So, we really have to match up the speed and the line. There you go. That was pretty darn good. [Music] 493 yds. Just a mid-length par4 for these guys nowadays. This is not your grandmother’s 493. Love this golf ball. Dead straight. Great golf test. There’s no tricks. Just uh got to hit two solid golf shots. That’s probably a little friendlier hole location than yesterday. It’s a little further back in the green. So, find the short stuff. We’ve already had a few birdies here this morning. Hold, please. Quiet, please. Just pick your shot shape and make it happen. And again, just a breath off the left hand side. [Music] heading towards that bunker. Needs to get a favorable bounce. Looks to be in the grass. Again, not a great angle in everybody hold. Hold, please. Are any overhanging trees to deal with, too? You’ve been there. Just a time or two. First two T-shots have been right. Can he straighten it out? Sounds like positive reactions. Not much run out there. Can Sheffler win his first PGA? Yes. It was the first time in a while that my parents weren’t at the masters. Uh so to see them to, you know, bring home the green jacket, you know, they’ve obviously known my hopes and dreams, you know, since I was a child. And I think for me to be able to bring it home, for them to see their son achieve this lifelong dream, you know, it was obviously very cool for all of us, but I think for me, as you get older and, you know, you start to think about your parents getting older and they might be around forever, I was just so grateful that they were both there to to see me do this, you know, and felt very very lucky that I could celebrate it with them. So, you know, I just thought it was important to go home and and spend that time with them. Hear the emotion in his voice. That’s from earlier this week. Very much still on his mind. What he did a month ago. Remarkable. That’s the list. All of them. Only six of them ever. The history of the sport to do it. I know Jerry and Rosie so appreciated that their boy came home to celebrate with them. Some pretty big dreams come true. Yeah. Yeah. I think it’s just a normal stock. One of those on that three. Would you like that? I think you have to get the five. 220 a lot, but that’s not [Music] with locked in there on that. This second shot is 210 into a slight breeze out of the left pin cut all the way back right. And we want to try to keep this left of the hole. This target is the television sign behind it which is about 15 ft left of it. Feel like that’s good. Look at these slides. If you How much hurt do you think there is right now, Drake? 4 miles an hour maybe. Good job. Enough to make you think about, but it’s not going to do a whole lot to the golf. Still get to even if it only goes to 98, we’re good. Okay. [Music] I agree with his caddy there. If it flies 98, it greens have just been so firm. It should bounce back up onto that back tier. [Music] just off the edge. I was going to say, make sure you do the most important part correctly, which is put the ball in the middle of the club face. Trey, any issue with trees here? Big issue with trees. He’s going to have to hit a little runner up the neck of the green. jumps into that bunker. Almost impossible to curve it from this stuff. He’s trying to cut it. One of the best shots of the year he hit were was from the trees right of the 18th fairway at TPC Sawrass. A shot not so dissimilar to that. But to your point, he’s in the thick rough this time instead of the pine straw. The shot he hit on at Augusta that impressed me the most is wildly cool and unbelievable. Well, the shot he hit at 15, the par five was his shot into 16 to the top right shelf on Sunday. He’s there’s no way he loves right hole locations and fading with irons. He He has a lot easier time fading a driver than he does an iron. Certainly a short iron. And that was a beautiful shot. I’d like to see him play more left, you know, let’s just call it tight cuts with the shorter clubs. [Music] Yesterday he had some issues in the left rough over the tree but into the bunker that same bunker. The difficulty here is you got a ridge to get over. Kind of landed into it. He did not make that. Today’s longer bunker. This is a longer bunker shot than he had yesterday. And because he has to go over that ridge, Dre more than the 60° here. He may still hit the 60°. Just not have it open quite as much, but he could afford to hit either one. He’s got about eight paces between the top of that ridge and the pin. I think it’s an easier shot today. [Applause] That’s probably in the B B category. He carried it on top. It just didn’t release much. Still has an uphill putt though, so he does. Better than the opposite side. Guy’s the best round going on the course. One of the guys that Rory played with yesterday. Chris Kirk. Three under through 11. Must be you, Dre. It could be. Christian has a very basic chip here. This is a shot that everybody practices out on tour. There you go. The first birdie from the group is a hole out for Bizaden Hot. Great job. It’s pretty dead center there. Just kiss it off the flag. He’s still not thrilled. These tiff Eagle Greens have some fire in them, Dre. They have the subair system beneath them and so that rain has not done much to its speed. Yeah, they are firming up and speeding up. Bogei’s at one and at three for Rory as he goes to the par [Music] 340T. They slid this whole location further back and left. Ted, you said you like this. This is a good spot. Should see more twos here. As firm as these greens are, carry that bunker by oh anywhere between five and 8 yards and we should hop back there for this area. Yeah, I think it it could be the flattest place to putt from around that hole. Flat being a relative term here. Practice round pin over there. It’s further back than it was in the first round. You remember that first round went? It’s on 22. I can’t remember what I had for breakfast, much less 4 days ago. Although I did have an encounter with the crispy bacon. And that cover four is 78. 76 is the cover. So five more. Yeah, I was going to say 81. Same page. And then what are we saying? This flag should say on the way there. We took two off so it’s 93. It’s like 912. Let me check that hand. It feels like it’s a lot of help. Make sure that’s what it’s supposed to be doing. Yeah. Yeah. Look. This is what This is what it has been doing. It feels It feels more down. The top of that The top of that ridge is that Q. Do you see that? So, I think we’re just coming down on your number there. Uh-huh. So, we’re trying to hit this. We’re trying to hit this 81. It’s helping six 752 little help. Okay. Yeah. What you got in? Yeah. I think you just that good flat one. You know what I mean? You looking at that T-Mobile logo, I think it is. Yeah. Down on the stairs. That’s it, man. Dre, a man from Kentucky speaking to a man from South Africa as they get the right number. Yeah. Let’s get connected with that heart, man. Take a breath. Yeah, they’ve been discussing everything quite a bit. These first three holes and now the poor T shot up, but I want to hear more about this bacon encounter. I love bacon. It was an extended encounter. Went down off the right. just fine. Parsons used to caddy for JB Holmes, Josh Teter, a couple Kentucky guys. Got to be a little weary of going long left. of this whole location past the pin. It does start sloping off back left portion of that screen. Way up in the air. Should like this whole location. A little firm bounce. PGA coach Jason Bale loves this game and coaching players at every level. This week has been special meaning for the PGA’s national teacher and coach of the year. [Music] So, I think your best rehearsals are the ones that almost that that right arm gets over left and face gets strong at the ball. You know, they don’t let you drive a car unless you take driver’s ed. And I think golf’s kind of the same way. You need to know some rules of the road right off the bat as far as how the golf ball flies and how your golf swing should work. Having a PGA coach there in the beginning of that to lay that good foundation, I think, is invaluable. All right, JB, come do some of that coaching. Let’s do it. There we go. Great coach is not trying to make everybody the same cuz none of us are. He understands each person’s idiosyncrasies, each person’s tendencies. And minus the differences in drivers and stuff, you felt like you were swinging the driver well. Cuz it looked like that one would turn. Being able to coach at a PJ championship as a PGA professional is pretty special. It’s my favorite championship because it’s ours. It’s a club that I’m not sure I feel worthy yet of being in, but I’m certainly proud to be in. [Music] Two great people right there. Cristian Bazadenhod also has been working with Jason since the Masters this year on his game. He’s one of four of Jason students here this week in the PGA Championship. All four made the cut. Bud Collie. Ryan Gerard Glover is tied for 17th. So is Gerard. Great week for Jason, a director of instruction at Jupiter Hills Club in Florida. Jason’s become a great friend. He is world class teacher. And loves to keep things simple, just like my man Mark Brooks does. Simple’s good. Organized is better. Speak the truth. Was texting with Lucas this morning. He is pumped about today. Tied for 17th. Good week for him. Rory, that is his golf ball just in that first cut of rough. and Bazadenho a bit longer away here putting for birdie. Pretty good look here though. Keeping short of this pin location, breaking to the right the entire way. Once it does pass the hole though and start moving back to the left, which is what Rory’s going to have to deal with being on the opposite side of the hole, his will be moving to the right. [Music] Good read. Not enough juice. Got a bad yardage. It’s crazy. If we hit him three golf balls and had him pitch it with his hand, there’s no way he’d leave one of them that far short. So, it’s it’s a crazy game. Mark Roy hit a little draw in here. Scotty, of course, hits that little cut. Is that the difference in getting some check around the hole and not getting any? Maybe a little bit, but Scotty can hit it either way. I will assure you that he needs to stop it. Yes. Right. He’s going to try to fit a cut in there. And Roy doesn’t hit a lot of cuts other than T- balls. Should be up the hill. it is. He can play it aggressively and he did When you see a player like Christian leave one this far short from, you know, basically 25 ft, 24 ft, I mean, he’s trying to put it a foot past the hole. So, this this putt’s 4t short off of yard of distance control. Tells me his brain somewhere else. May I mean I’m talking about thinking about swing or something else or just after the putting round he had yesterday just not confident over and kind of guessing a little bit. Yeah, that that that’s true. [Music] First steady par. 2010, 2015, 2021, and 2024 PGA Tour winner here at Quail [Music] Hollow. Woo! And they go over to the fifth. Fairly new hole here at Quell Hollow [Music] Club. Beautiful little soft bender to the right. T-shot’s actually a slightly downhill and then you play back up to the green. Today’s whole location [Music] is cut over cut just over one of these rolloffs false fronts. It’s uh armoring a hole location with grass which I love. Doesn’t have to be a bunker all the time to protect a pin location. I thought you were about to say sucker pin because it’s any to your to what you just said. Anything left of the flag. I mean a foot left of the flag. Bye-bye. Gone. Three feet short of the flag. Bye-bye. I mean, these guys got their name on the bag. They’re supposed to be good. Put it in the fairway. Oh, I hope they both go flag hunting. trash can. Yeah, I see that. Yeah, that’s perfect. Mark, this is probably my favorite pin location on this entire hole. And it’s not a sucker pin if you can get it into the fairway here because you can get a short iron and control your spin, but you have to be weary of the deep rough left of it and that false front. Hopefully short of the buckers. 305 to it and perfect. Now that is all of those bunkers typically are flown by this man. Well, it’s only 310 over the right side for Rory. That’s it. That’s all. Quick tea pickup is usually a good sign. Goodbye. Hand him his shortest wedge, please. Scotty Sheffller at the top on ESPN Plus. [Music] from the PGA of America coaching center powered by T-Mobile where the PGA professional Natalie Sheen is and she’s talking about using the ground for pressure shift. Hey Natalie. Hey guys. So Rory does something that I think is really interesting. And in his down swing, he actually gets that left heel. I’ve got my half tennis ball on the ground. He actually works his left heel a little bit toward the target. And something that a lot of amateur golfers struggle with is using the ground efficiently to help them create speed and power. And so what I see a lot is that sort of spin out of the legs. And this is a great drill to help you fix that and also help you get the club swinging a little more out to the right if that’s something you struggle with. So, I’ve got it just next to my heel there. We’re swinging back and I’m going to step my heel onto the tennis ball to start my down swing. Keeps the hips a little bit more closed in transition, which can really help you push up better from the ground and create better, more consistent contact. Great stuff, Natalie. She Man, I I tell you, he fires through the golf ball. And here’s a look at it here, Brooks Eie, that how much force he gets from his lower body. Well, you could see that left heel landed closer to the target than where it started. It’s a common trait. Jack Nicholas did it famously. I got to try that tennis ball trick, but Zaden Ho, you’ll you’ll probably rip some ligaments on your left ankle. More help. A little bit more down. Yeah. Okay. I like to picture a grape on the ground. Uhhuh. at some either if you need to land it in front or the back and smash the great or take a pool noodle cut snip off a little piece then cut that in half. It’ll sit right on the ground for you and more like five. I think we’re trying to hit something like on that 37. It could be 38. So I think it’s playing like 32 33 at that cube. So depends on how high you want to hit it. It’s below your feet. Probably not the 50. It’s probably not the 50 cuz it’s below your It’s below your feet. Here’s the thing. If you’re if you’re staying right, if you just stay right like you hit a little bit more at the five, you’re running all the way at the middle of the green. And then we want to be up there. So, this is perfect. You know, it’s okay to go past this 13. You’re saying it’s like a 33 shot, huh? Yeah. Okay. The left side of the fairway and this ball is slightly below its feet with his feet, which is going to make him want to get this ball weakening to the right a little bit. That is the spot that you want to be. If he’s at the pin or left of it, that’s a mistake. Safely aboard. I’m going to go out on a limb and say these guys ought to be able to make a ball curve either direction from 138 with a ball above or below their feet a little bit. Rory just out drove Christian by 50 yards. Get used to it. Only 90 remaining. How aggressive does he want to get right here? Very. Let’s get that ball to go where you’re looking. Mhm. Looking. It’s the key to golf. That was pretty. The key to golf is the ball goes where you’re looking. not necessarily where you’re aiming. We could talk for an hour about that. [Applause] PGA Junior League is bringing friends, families, and communities together through golf. All with expert PGA and LPGA coaching. Find a team near you at pga Jr.com. So fun to hear every age yell Rory’s name out there. [Applause] Who knows? That could be a future Quail Hollow Club champion. That little child over there. No doubt. One good thing about that PGA Junior League when they get them started, it’s they have fun. It’s a little bit competitive, but a lot of them, they’ll play scrambles. Mhm. So, kids that aren’t very proficient at the game yet aren’t are welcomed. your director today, Chris Olmire, and I have been doing the PGA Junior League Championship for years, and you’re exactly right. The team competition keeps it really fun. And of course, those kids can play, but at the grassroots level, just to get clubs in their hand and figure out they can have fun playing golf. I said it the other day. I think the key to growing the game. A lot of lip service shot that direction. I think the key to growing the game is growing the passion for the sport and everything that it represents. And it is truly an individual sport and your opponent. It’s not like boxing. You don’t need to study your opponent much. I think these guys out here spend too much time watching looking at stats from these other players. This is going to be fairly quick. Maybe a cup outside. Right. Most of the break will happen in the beginning and then this ball in the second half of the putt will straighten out. You read it well, Dre. That is a hard That’s one of the harder ones to read out here. A great shot in here by Rory just landing it on top of that false front controlling his spin well and now has this remaining and just needs to split that right edge. Half the ball in, half the ball out. [Applause] First birdie on this Sunday. Second in the group. We need more. Let’s have some fun on this championship Sunday. Typically, you’re thinking if you could get through these first six, then it’s time to score. But who knows? They’ve handed out some birdies at the six this week and there’s been a hole in one there too. See Kim, the longest hole one ever recorded in a major championship. See Woo hit it from 252 yds away on [Music] Friday. Think they duplicate the pin? No, they’ve moved it over. Kind of out in the center today. It’s 252 though, Taylor. same yardage. You can pick whatever shot shape you want here. Doesn’t matter. Just try to put it right in the center of the green. You can see this uh hole had has had nice resistance to scoring. Almost 3.3 3.3 strokes over par. Here it is. Nice tight cut. Maybe this reaction is so good. I love it. Good lord, he could have broken the club. He is one of the great characters in the game. So fun to be around. Taylor, do you know who held the longest hole and won in a major championship before that? I think it might be him still. You are correct. Port Rush 2024. Uh, cut. trying to cut back but just holding it did not right this was this was hitting the number that we want right now a lot of times but not on that flat one you know what I mean it was like the other It was going between 242 236. So I think that’s right. This is what we’re talking about. Yeah. Yeah, that’s right. Yeah. Be quiet, guys. Be quiet, please. See it. Wind picking up a little bit in out of the left. This elevated T- box plays down about nine paces. adjusted to 243. This looks pretty good. Just left of it. Didn’t make solid contact. comes up well short, but both players have plenty of green green to work with. We’re at the par 3 sixth on ESPN Plus. [Music] [Music] There’s no more misunderstood idea in the world of competitive sports than legacy because it means something different to every man. rooted in long ago ambitions and [Applause] dreams. And so the true prize of a major championship isn’t a sterling silver trophy or an enormous check, but something that lives in the distant mountain mist of tomorrow. What it means is a mystery, even to the golfer who wins it and can only be revealed in time. [Music] Will Scotty Sheoffller be joining Mark Brooks for supper next year at Aronoming? He is a threeshot lead heading into the final round. So, you’re saying there’s a chance? I was hoping you were going to say yes again like you did a minute ago. Yes. [Music] Who is um we’re going to talk plenty about him and what is in front of him today. Who is your favorite person or story that you’ve experienced in the last 29 years? Like at dinner? I I think about Lee Trevino in those dinners through the years. I’m sure he’s been a lot of fun. Jack, I know has been there plenty of times. Obviously, you said yesterday you want Tiger back there next year for the dinner. I got to hear about this first. We need to watch Christian play a second. Oh, he got fortunate that his ball didn’t get close enough to the bunker to where it was going to affect his stance, but that was not expected right there. He had a perfect lie. Once this ball lands, it’s going to want to kick to the right. [Applause] I’m speechless. The dinner story. I’m I’m still thinking. I don’t really have one. Yeah, I’ve got time for more than one. I mean, we we did a nice We had a interesting group conversation uh at Southern Hills. I’ll tell you about it. After Rory pitches this ball up to up to green, get it inside, I don’t know, six feet. He’d be happy under the hole. That’s his target. He’s has a perfect lie with a little bit of cushion out of this first cut. Fairly straight. You want to move gently to his right. Oh, that could have gone in. [Applause] Running a little hot, maybe influenced by the flag stick, but it was and it didn’t hit dead center. Usually they go in if it’s dead center. [Applause] [Music] A touch high. Probably six feet by. So good break. Good break. Bad break. Anyhow, caught here by Christian. He’s got outside of 10 ft. And this for bogey after dumping that first ball into the bunker, splashing out to this point, can ill afford to lose two shots. Trying to minimize damage. Yeah. Oh, we worked together at Southern Hills. I don’t think you told me, at least the week we were working together, I don’t think you told me some fun story about Southern Hills. Well, I’m sure I did. You just forgot. at the dinner. You know, usually the defending champion doesn’t like to speak much. They’re not really adept at public speaking even though it’s a small dinner party and they they say their nicities and thank everybody, but uh it would gotten a little quiet. So, I had the idea of a question or two that and then make every player at the dinner answer so we could get everyone involved and I want to say one of them was uh their favorite club growing up. What golf club did do they remember? Like one of the early clubs was and the other question I asked was the they had to name their the best shot they’ve ever hit that they can recall in competition and the worst shot they ever hit in competition. And it turned into really fun about about an hour. everyone. Of course, whoever went in the top two or three, the other guys had a little more time to think about it, but it was it was very interesting, revealing, uh somewhat emotional for some of the guys. Uh Sean McKill hitting his seven iron to three inches on the last hole at Oakhill. So, it was good. And uh that that I probably remember that as much as anything. What was your greatest shot? Uh, in the end, my great most memorable shot, my bunker shot on the 72nd hole at the PGA. Kind of sneaky tough bunker shot that I got to about six feet or so and made it to get into the playoff. Would you mind doing that again next year and recording it? We’ll have to talk to Julius Mason about that. I love Jules, but I think speaking for Dre and everyone else, I would love to hear that. My well, my question this year was going to be you get one mulligan in your career. And if you don’t name it, we will. I love that game. He’s heading up the right edge of the fairway. Needs to hold. off. He was over there yesterday and found the creek. Rory still did land in the thick rough. So, we’ll see if it skipped forward in the creek or stayed in the heavy stuff. Yeah, there’s some bearded rough over there. Could hold it. He’s alive. He’s still in the rough there. It didn’t bounce into water. Wind down off the right currently. Just T elevated 11. Wow. Last hole he didn’t trickle in. This hole he does. [Applause] Scotty Sheffller is off at 240 this afternoon. [Music] Hit the green at the PGA Championship with ESPN Bet Sports Book. [Music] That’s over at the 14th. There’ll be a lot of people there this afternoon here at the seventh. Zayenhot in one of those fairway bunkers. And Rory Mroy is still alive. In fact, he only has an 180 yards to go there. Dre, this ball’s sitting down a little bit, but he’s only 180 yards. Just smashing the golf ball right now and starting to heat up. So, the ball’s flying. They do have that traditional front right hole location where everything feeds to the hole here. Tommy Fleetwood. This was two groups ahead playing seventh. Oh no. Did he do it? Are you kidding me? Come on. Colum Morawa hit the rock wall earlier this week and bounce forward, make birdie, and now don’t tell me. Now there is a golfing god. Are you kidding me? We’ve had three Eagles thus far today. Yeah, this is the Eagle pin. That’s Bizaden Hote’s layup. As you keep looking at the green there, everything funnels towards the whole location. having tiger flashbacks right now. 18 years ago, 2007, last round this hole had a very similar shot handmade eagle. Rory’s ball is not sitting up by any means below his feet, but he can get a fair amount of club on it. I do not expect this to be flirting with this front edge. There is a bowl back beyond it that will bring the ball back. Ah, set. Oh my god. Set. [Applause] and he’ll have even longer to go than Tiger did. Tiger was up top and made a long eagle putt. One of those big Tiger roundhouse right fist bumps afterwards to go on to win that year. A jumper, Brooksie. Yeah, well, it wouldn’t do that if you’re on a fairway. pretty fairly appropriate punishment for missing the fairway. I think the rough’s done its job this week. It should produce about a half a shot penalty over the course of the week. drive it in the rough 10 times. You make five pars and five bogeies, you’re you’re average. It’s when you can start beating that. And one reason Scotty’s up there is you saw the stats, he missed one fairway yesterday and he’s not short. Pretty good combo. [Music] [Music] It’s curious. He’s walking up to the green. Andress I think just seeing how much slope there is left of it and where he might want to pitch it. Anything added, just not a lot of room. There’s enough, but six paces between the front right edge and the pin for him. And with as firm as these greens are getting, I think that’s going to be a big part of how this championship unfolds the rest of the day is how accurate guys are going to be with where they land their shots, which kind of plays into Scotty Sheffller’s favor. He’s one of the best in the world at it. If you want to be straight at it 79 is the front straight at it. Correct. Yeah. You see there’s the one tree. I don’t think that’s far enough. You got to go more. You walked up and fall, right? Yeah. Is it on basically that second tree? Yeah. Basically on the seven. Okay. Down. Yeah. The seven’s okay though. Yeah. Okay. The cover on that bunker looking at that is 76. What number are we thinking? It probably must pitch to use every 82. Yeah. 82. What if it landed on? Yeah. All right. And then the wind is like this. The trees that they are talking about are left of this pin. Everything does kick just a touch to the right. It’s a lot a lot of information. 87 yds. How about just just left of it? You can use all that played to perfection. That is incredibly well done by Vizenho. Just fly that bunker and gravity take over. That’s one way. The good news when you see that whole location is you say, “Okay, I I got a chance here.” The the bad news is everybody has a chance here. That is true. From 87 yards, you should be able to control that really well. And he did. But as we mentioned, the first hop on every single shot is just bounding into the green. That is not my house. Don’t even think about it. Olmire, Taylor, Brooks, Gonzalez. I know we’re about to go there. I don’t know that it’s his house either, but man, what a spot to watch golf. This is delicate. Just have to pick a spot on this ridge where you want this ball trickling over the edge. Trickle. Get it over the edge. Here it comes. [Applause] Not sure Rory’s overly pleased with where he left this, but so tough to hit that perfect speed down that really fast little bowl down here in the front right portion of the screen. I don’t see anything to this. Fairly straight. Oh, come on. Come on, Rory. Huh? I don’t know how that looks. That was rude. Ball didn’t come right at all. Let’s see if we can convert here. out of position off of the golf tea box. Wedging it to here. Nice up and down there. This is where all the noise on the front nine is going to be today. Here and at the next hole. They’ve slid the T- markers up here. It’s only 315 yds all the way to the hole. Slightly uphill. Driver’s actually too much for a lot of these guys. And I’m going to assume Taylor, help us out here. You don’t want to be long. No good. X. Front bunker’s okay. Yep. Anything short of the hole, right of the tree, or on the green. And that’s a perfect camera visual there. Anything behind the flag is trouble. Unless it’s just in that first cut, so it can’t go racing through pace is 295. 315 is the hole close to that 300 number like this. 299 up a few paces to get to the front edge of the putting surface. Mark, I like the T- box up here. Giving these guys a chance to go for it. Guarded by the bunker right with Big Oak just left of the green. This is right at it. A good hop. Oh, hit soft. Perfect spot. I like it being up as well, Andress. So, it gives everybody in the field, you know, legit shot just like number 14 has a couple of rounds, if not every round. Sam Burns just in front of these guys. Just made birdie here. He’s five under through eight. I saw that. should be most wind picking up just a little bit at the moment coming out of that 5:00 area if you’re looking at a clock. This is to the right. Not thrilled with it. [Applause] Okay place to miss it though. The long pitch however. There’s Burns a scorecard now three under in total. [Music] Oh, jeepers creepers. Oh no, that hurts. Bit of unfortunate. I don’t really get too down on myself with lip outs, especially bad ones. You just kind of like laugh it up cuz that’s the game. It’s the whole round, so it’s possible. I would say the the one that you think, oh, it’s dead weight. It’s got to catch a piece and then it just slowly lips out and you just think to yourself, how is that possible? A lot of frustration, a lot of I think anger towards the golf ball, towards the hole. It gets your head spinning at times, especially in certain situations. And that’s rude. Stole your [Music] line. Oh, they just It’s just such a terrible feeling, isn’t it? Rory up first. [Music] It’s almost like you can will it into lipping out. Well, this going bad. This one’s the rude one. All lip outs are not made or not equal. Well, the next time you’re feeling sorry for yourself about lip outs, go to the putting ring from about four feet and see how many you can lip out in a row because it almost takes more precision to lip it out than it does to make it. Obviously, those stats aren’t up to his standards with the fairways hit and greens hit. I would think in these next few weeks we’re going to see the sharp Rory Maroy again by the time we get to Oakmont and then the home game he’ll play at Royal Port Rush inside of 6 ft here would be great. There’s a little ridge running away from him just short of the hole. That ball ended up a lot better than than it appeared. That was in a better spot. I thought he was over there in the hay. The high grass. A fanned fairway metal to the short right side of the green. And beautiful pitch and it will result in a birdie. And if you’re wondering folks why he pitched it so far in the air, there was a big swale that he just took out of out of play, picked his landing spot. He had a lot of different options from over there. He could have got it on the green, but taken out all that trouble as you mentioned, left. I like this play right here by Joseen Hill. Putter in hand. Not a lot of room on this little plateau far left side of the screen. Especially like the play given some of the struggles we’ve seen so far on the apron. You know what we saw at six just a little while ago. You brought that up again. Sends shippers down that spot. I can’t think of a time I’ve ever used a wedge on that apron right there. We were having a fun conversation, Dre, earlier this morning about using a putter or maybe a hybrid from aprons involving Cristian Bazadenho. He made his first trip to Pinehurst last year in this state at the US Open and I bumped into him and he was around one of those Donald Ross greens and he was asking what the strategy should be from off the green and he started using a hybrid and was hauling a few out from off the green in practice rounds. I was never much of a hybrid guy or a three-wood guy. I just felt like it came off with so much pop. But I think a lot of that just I didn’t sit around and practice it as much as maybe I should have. Just going to curl a little to his left. Well done there. Yeah. Here we go. Seen some birdies now. One over on his round as he heads to the beast known as the ninth. I think they did it just to be cute. But on the car today, the actual official yardage first. Let’s go to Burns. We were talking about the scorecard. This was in front of Maroy and you said note. Yeah, you said he’s been working on his iron game. [Music] I would say so. He stopped that from 200 yards. Our boy had 87. My point is he made four, but I think you could have stopped it here. It’s not a mile past the hole. What a beautiful three. He has always been such an exceptional putter. Sure. He’s now 17th. Was just inside the top 50 to start the day. You caught that. I’m still banging on Cristian for playing way left. I’ll let it go now. Yes, that’s right. I just don’t like complicating a shot that doesn’t need to be complicated. I mean, we’re we’re it’s not rocket science out here. Well, this shot’s not complicated. Just hammer as far up the fairway as possible. Just herniate yourself here. Wind up and herniate yourself. I was going to reveal this hole is 532 and number seven was 531. I think they did it just to be cute. Cristian is one of the shortest hitters in the field, so he’ll still be a ways back. I think I’d be in traction if I tried to swing like this man and what he’s about to do. No, you wouldn’t, cuz you can’t swing this fast. It’s impossible. Christian may not have gotten it to the corner, so he may have to hit a hook around the trees. This man, on the other hand, I don’t think he sees the trees. The wind behind [Music] them. This is leaking towards the right bunker. Needs to hold. [Applause] just wiped it out there about 3:30. Mroy is at the ninth on ESPN Plus. Quail Hollow. I think the memories I have from there and just the overall vibes that I get from the place, I just love it. The design of the golf course, too. The par fives for me are reachable. People talk about Augusta being, you know, tailor made for my game and and some ways I can I can see that. But, you know, I don’t think there’s a golf course in the world that sets up quite as well for me as Quill Hall if I’m if I’m driving the ball well. If I’m driving the ball well at Quill Hollow, I I feel like I’ve, you know, I’ve got quite an advantage over the rest of the field. If you go back to courses that you’ve been to over and over again, it’s like, okay, well, I I know what to do here. I’ve done this before. And I and I think that that experience on a golf course is a is a big deal as [Music] well. He has been the king of the Queen City, winning here four times in dominant fashion. Two in three of those four victories. Really the one in 2021 was the only close call. 62 on Sunday 15 years ago for his first victory on the PGA Tour. 61 on Saturday 10 years ago for the course record and they’ve made this hole longer for him in 2025. 221 1300. It doesn’t seem that like that long ago that we were tiger proofing courses and now we’re worry proofing them. I got a different take on that. It was tiger guaranteed longer you made them. Yeah, exactly. Exactly what you showed me. Just hitting this with that queue up there. Got that four iron. Yeah. It should be just a good one, huh? Yes. Okay. And we talked about to this pin that bunker that’s up that’s closer that was cover. But also we were looking if this comes up left, it’s always covering the left bunker, you know. Yeah. I know one thing. I don’t have that many options from 246. Yeah. We could argue, Dre, and this is what I said to Rory when he said what you said. He was like, “Don’t you guys want to give me a chance?” But I showed him how long this hole was. I said, “You could argue you’re the only one with a chance now. They’re beset hoding proofing this course.” Big oak tree about 100 yards out on the left hand side is in his ey line. Hoisted up in the air. He needed 225 in the air and 218 to the front. Anything 222 225 and just uh live with the result. 222 now went down off the left. Set up for a big fade to this back right pin. Wind ought to do a lot of the fade for it. Just hit it straight up the gut. hates it. Look left. It’s a good hate. Probably sell that one a little later this afternoon. The wind picks up. What the Xander and Sam Burns play. Sam is just bogeied the ninth. Drop back to two under. Fleetwood and Morawa also are playing the 10th. Sam’s best buddy Scotty getting in here early. Tom Kim and Michael Kim playing. And then you can get the green or you can get the holes 14, 15, and 16 as well. All here on ESPN Plus. Scotty eats some lunch, go through all his stretching and physio work before hitting balls and preparing for his 240 start time. playing with Alex Noran leading by three. Is this what’s next on the bucket list for the number one player in the game? Win your first PGA championship. It’s interesting. We just played that feature about Rory and how much he loves this place, how comfortable he is here. He said earlier this week, I thought this was interesting on a podcast. They asked him, “You you have 10 rounds. You how many are you playing Royal County Down and how many are you playing Quail Hollow?” County Down, of course, one of the golf great courses in the world back in his home country of Northern Ireland. And he said, “Oh man, that’s tough.” and he said six Quail Hollow for Royal County Down. How about that? The man just absolutely loves this golf course. And I think that’s what I appreciate even more about Scotty Sheffller is this is the first time he’s played in stroke play competition on this course and he leads by three. He can play anywhere. Sure can. Six to four, huh? Yeah. I love Royal County now. That’s I think that’s my favorite course. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say he’s gotten more checks here. Deposited into his account exiting the Quail Hollow grounds than he has at That’s true. Royal County now. He had a heartbreaking close call there last year on the DP World Tour in the Irish Open. played the Walker Cup there years ago. This is an awkward little stance here for Bizenho has putter out. 95% of players have the ball in the front portion of their stance when they are putting and this is going to have to be well back. So, not really a shot you’re practicing all the time, especially from this distance outside of 90 ft. Going to move to the right majority of the way. This has any kind of heat, it does fall off behind it. That’s pretty darn good right there. Mark that ball back in the stands. Did you see that huge hop it took right at the beginning? I did. That used to be called the old Texas wedge. Just sort of have to be an athlete and figure it out. Little geometry. Do your angles. Not really a putt you’re looking to make, but if you can hit proper speed and just give it a chance, maybe Yeah, just get instinctively in love with the speed. See it, feel it, roll it. That was nice. Darn there. Converted it. Scream at it. Those things have ears every once in a while. Thought we were going to get Schoffley and Mroy for the fourth straight day. They did finish on the same score, but were split up due to the overall math. Schoffley’s playing well, three under through his first nine. He partied seven and Eagle eight. Said Sam, you’re not going out there by yourself. Sam Burns, his playing partner, who’s four under through nine. had it had it five. Not a lot in this. Not much at all. So, don’t make it more than it is. Yeah. You start it in the middle. It’s not moving one way or another to get outside the hole. That’s one of those you practice for allers on the putting green. Make like a hundred in a row before you leave. That’s a busy scorecard. All right, get a bite of an energy bar or something and go rip a back nine apart before you exit one of your favorite places in the world. Rory, entertain us. Next May, the PGA Championship returns to Aronomic Golf Club in New Town Square, Pennsylvania, outside of Philadelphia. To register for tickets, visit pga championship.com/register. Registration closes soon. 30-year anniversary of Mark Brooks’s PGA Championship win going to for the first time since 1962. Philadelphia showed out last week for the PGA tour stop that is typically here at Quail Hollow. That of course was at Philadelphia Cricket Club. This will be at Aronomic that’s not far from Philly Cricket. Go to Frisco in two years for the first time. Go to Olympic Club for the first time in 2028. Of course, the US Open was there in 2012. As they play the 10th, that bunker does come into play for Bizadenho over to the left. See how aggressive Rory is with that line to this middle back left hole location. Everything on the front of that green sloping towards the hole. [Music] Still like that big tree just right of the flags there. Yeah. See if we’ll have to find out soon if that rolled in or stayed short of the fairway bunkers. It appears to have stayed short. A wind out of the right here. This is just a perfect wind for Rory to tomahawk one down the right side and let the wind bring it back. [Applause] [Music] Not coming back. He’ll have to hit one of those sawed off shots again from there. Under three hours away from Sheffler and Norin on the first TE in the final round of the PGA Championship. [Music] [Music] lunchtime on this beautiful Sunday. at the PGA Championship here in [Music] Charlotte. Top player in the game carries a threeshot cushion into the final round. If someone is going to threaten him, Brooksie, who do you like? Well, right now, like nobody to threaten him unless Scotty decides to allow him to come back into the into the game. I He can’t go past Mr. Norin. He’s the closest man there. I I did some math earlier. the highest score from the top 16 players that are on the board right now and that’s 10 just under 600 yards [Music] today. The highest score of any round of the rounds from for the whole week is 73 from anybody on the top in the top 15, top 16 on the board. So Scotty shot 73 matched the highest score that would bring a lot of people back into the into the game to get to nine under par and have a you know chance at a that’s a good nugget and and that was V Johnny Vegas that shot that yesterday the 18 and 36 whole leaguer. So only two. All right. So let me ask you another question. Mr. Highmith shot 73 and he’s in the top 16 right there. Yeah. On Thursday. Yes. So let me ask you another question. Okay. Who do you like to finish second? God, tough question. John Rob. Yeah, that’s where I was going to go. Under par every day. Why not? Roy’s only got like Rory has like 24 that one can come out. Uh this is going to come out more with the same pattern. The fivewood will have different patterns. So let’s just do this. And you’re very aggressive with that 98. If it gets past it, you know you got plenty of room. You’re probably looking at that green side bunker and those two baby bird. I said that in the previous group. When’s this Christian has 299 lie is not great. Not going to chase anything up with the wood. Just trying to get it back in position. Anything on that right hand side would be preferable. I mean, he could do it with anything. Seven iron, 6 iron, 8 iron. Just bash, flyer it down the middle of the fairway, control the direction. Where is it now, Dre? It should be left side of the fairway. anything. It may have trickled into the left first cut, but I think it held in the fairway. Tip it home when you’re in this if you get get find yourself in this rough. Take more loft if you’re questioning which club to play. Okay, Mr. Gonzalez to really that that first bunker on the left that we see. If he clears this, it goes all the way to the hole. This ball’s sitting down, too. And he does have some tree trouble in front of him. either needs to stay low or hit a big cut around it. All right, this came out low left. This is going to find left rough How do you like your hash browns? Scattered, covered, and smothered. So that was which one? That was all all it left scattered out. But that was smothered and covered for sure. If the game’s on the line, he’s probably not doing that. But why not? Not that he ever would, but if he said, “What do you think I should do?” I’m old enough. I would I would And he he’ll never get the word, but I I’d like to see Rory with an eight iron, seven, eight, nine iron, particularly an eight iron. And I’d have him doing the nine window drill till he couldn’t stand up and then finish the session with 20 bomb drivers and some short game and go home. He clearly has that you know it’s there had to be a reason he went 10 years without winning a major and I know some of it was a mental block but there’s some shot missing and you look at the guys that you know I would say Jack Mr. Nicholas and Tiger have to say they were pretty successful at Augusta and you go we know what shot shake jackpite big high soft fade and I think if he got that shot in his arsenal where he could do it more on call especially with you know mid wedges and some mid mid stuff I think it would take him to the next level as an example I mean If you think of the shots that Sheffller and Norin played into 17 yesterday, everyone struggled with that hole location because it was a right to left wind and they cut it up and held it against the wind with the held it against the wind. And you don’t need a lot of technical just he’s such a great athlete. Just have him do it. Just let him figure it out. Taylor saying he wouldn’t do this if it was on the line. But I think this is one of the reasons he hit 3-wood. He only has 99 left. Almost doesn’t matter if he’s in the rough from that distance. Is shut down. No smell. You want that one to just barely land on the green, if at all. That’s a a sneaky tough hole location right here. We had one similar to this, but on the opposite side of the green. It’s a skinny little shelf right right across the center. I agree with you, Mark. You think there’s a lot of room right of this pin that you can use, but it just slips down away from you if you do miss it right. And it’s very fast and firm on this left hand side from where these guys are playing. I mean, just figure out how to chisel it in there short of the hole if you can because that’s the tough task. Driving this in low. There you go. That’s chiseling it in under under the hole. Difference between being in the rough and not being in the rough, too. Getting some check there. And another good look at birdie for Bazenho. Pretty simple game plan there. I have a ton of respect for this young man. He has been a lot of fun to be around the last few years. He speaks Africans and he speaks English. A number of golf fans are familiar with his story as a young child and the horrible accident that happened where he drank some rat poison and the impact that had on his nervous system and his speech. But he has overcome a lot of that. He speaks with confidence and speaks through those challenges and has become a worldclass player and you hear all the chatter that he has had with his caddy today. He’s he’s very inquisitive. He always wants to learn. He always wants to work. made the president’s cup here team here in Charlotte three years ago representing his com country of South Africa reference today is his birthday 31 years old the next step for him is to win in the United States and to contend in a major playing with this man today will certainly give him some perspective on that. Uphill the entire way. Been cut right on a ridge. Runs away from and past it. Fairly straight chip. You can see the color change. It’s into the green there. [Applause] Think of all the success he’s had on this course and what he did, what he’s done this year, unequivocally the player of the year in golf so far with the three wins, the players, the Pebble Beach win, and of course the Masters. You just had to believe he’d be in the thick of it, but not to be. I know that he’s been struggling all week, but he’s still such a strong player that it doesn’t seem like it’s ever really that far off. I agree, Dre. I I think it’ll be back in the next few weeks. playing against the best players in the world. You just can’t really be off. You can still play weekends in major championships, but you’re just not contending if you’re not firing on all cylinders. Remains even par on his [Applause] round. You brought up an interesting point. we can dive into a little bit when you said taking notes. Mhm. You might want to be careful sometimes what what notes you take when you’re watching someone else plug. There’s a interesting thing. I I call it shot envy. Speed envy. You know, it’s kind of interest. I’m I can stay on the subject after he knocks in this birdie. Convert a beautiful up and down. This would be three out of the last four if he can find the bottom. How about that? After that double bogey at six, he’s back to even par in his round. So, my point is they’re not playing Rory. They’re playing the golf course. I understand, you know, there’s certain things you probably need to do. There’s you need certain speeds to be able to play out here. I get that. I’m not going to over s oversimplify it or over complicate it, but what you could do with this hole, it’s asking for a big nice turnover ball here right to left for these right mostly right-handed players today’s hole location. So, you turn one over. Yeah, you need to cut one into this back right hole location. This is probably the toughest hole location to to actually get it close to. Little bit of room there, but it’s back there. Yeah, I would agree with that, Mark, about the hole location. It is uphill putt. If you’re beneath the hole, it’s an uphill putt and then it’s a downhill putt. Well, you’re going to have, you know, call it a hook line, the fairway trying to get it up to that uncomfortable shot. I’m back into the breeze right now. Not as easy to challenge these bunkers. Need to play it out to the right. And fairway runs quick once it starts turning left. And that ball will find the left rough. It’s not a bad angle from over there, but you do have to be exacting because you’re not in the fairway. And it was a good point that you made, Brooksie, about playing your own game. Lucas Glover talks about that though. He says, “Maybe take something mentally from another player, but don’t try to take something that you can’t do.” Well, not many can do what we’re about to watch [Music] here. This is perfect. [Applause] There is some room over there on the other side of that [Music] ridge. They play the challenging par 41 11th the beautiful Queen City of Charlotte, North Carolina. [Music] Welcome back. We’re going to show you how Roy got to where he is on the 11th fairway. Another one of his signature drives. 90 yards to the hole. Made that look pretty [Applause] simple. Converted. Tugged to four or five iron here. Left of the green. Kind of good break. Bad break. Nice save. Wipe to 3-wood. was looking for something better than that, which he produced with this long pitch. Very well judged. And that’s a birdie. Slow start. Dumped a wedge in the bunker at one. Just messed around on a third hole from maybe 90 yards. He’s right at the ship. not enough greens, not quite enough [Music] fairways. Even par for the [Music] day. See where these two gentlemen put their T-shots. [Music] It’s interesting what you said about being able to play all the shots. Windham Clark won a PGA Tour event here a couple of years ago, two years ago. That was his first PGA Tour win before he won the US Open and last year won at Pebble Beach. He plays a cut every time. And on this tee, dog leg left, he aims at the 12th fairway mark and sends it over the trees and cuts it back into the fairway. And I mean plays a 50 yd cut. Ran out to about 72. Well, that’s fine. Similar, huh? I advocate playing one shot shake, but if you have the talent and the ability to do it and the guts to do it under competition, you’re going to be ahead of the field. So, the first bounce is probably bouncing left. Yeah. So, there’s a white hat right there. Yeah, that’s it. Got the wind coming off the 188 for Brazen here in the left rough. Ball sitting down a little bit. This is going to come out knuckling. Very tough to control where you’re landing this ball. You’re playing as much of an educated guess as possible. Didn’t get enough of it heading left. Should have hopped in that front left bunker. Long bunker shot there. There’s a lot of predictive analysis going on before each shot. 195 left side of the fairway for Rory. The ball slightly above his feet and about 12 paces short of this pin. Green starts sloping away from him. just left [Applause] it. It’s good mess. He hated it. like he might have been going for a cut there. Caught it just a little heavy. Loving it. Slow then fast putt coming up. This is that whole location long. A little long’s actually not bad. If you’re gonna Zenote won’t be able to see much of the flag will not be able to see the hole from where he is in the bunker as Mroy walks up the 11th. Looks like he’s the Lone Ranger spinning that front left bunker today. Xander Schoffley four under through 11 playing with Sam Burns. Both of those players have the low round on the course to borrow the NASCAR term. Shaw place drafting off Sam. They’re both tied for 23rd now. Let’s prepare you for the afternoon here. Bryson Dambo and Tony Fen now at two. Captain Keegan Bradley and Johnny Vegas at 210. Sew Kim and John Rom at 220. JT Poston and Davis Riley at 230. And then Alex Norin and Scotty Sheffler. The last pairing at 240. How about that penultimate pairing? Alabama’s Well, he’s a Mississippi boy, but he went to Alabama. Davis Riley and JT Poston, who’s from Hickory, North Carolina. We’ll have a lot of people out here today. Went to Western Carolina for college. Let’s just say, you’d never know. They’re all capable of a low round. This is a hard shot right here. Green running away from him. This ball is sitting down. This is not going to have any spin. Yeah. I don’t want any part of this. This is nice. It keeps running. Yeah. Very good. There probably weren’t a lot of great options on where to leave that second shot from where his T-shot was. I mean, he couldn’t get it through the green from the lie he had. So, got I don’t know if I mentioned it yesterday, but you play golf one shot ahead. It’s the way you actually play golf. And then you focus and concentrate on executing the shot right in front of you. You always should have some idea of what you want for your next one. That’s that’s the plan. Well, this will be rather ticklish moving from right to left the whole way. Just try to throw it out to where gravity will do the rest of the work. Generally speaking, you’re going to make a mistake on the read. Make it on the high side. Play too much rather than not enough. Well, that straightened out on him. the putt. He walked after that quickly like he knew it was by. It’s not miles by Christian with another dreaded 10-footer for par. Oh, there’s a bird that flew over right as he’s putting. Where’s Brian Harmon when you need him? Avid hunter and fisherman. When Bzaden Hot played in the President’s Cup, Dre, three years ago, Brian Harmon showed up on Sunday. He didn’t play in the President’s Cup here. He showed up in hunting fatigues on Sunday here at Quail Hollow because Kevin Kner, who played on the team, and Harmon were going hunting straight from the President’s Cup. You couldn’t pack any extra clothes. I mean, they literally was standing off the 18th hole wearing all his hunting gear. Maybe just trying to get Kizner pumped up. This is fairly straight but very quick. That’s a heck of a four. Sent that one down the pipeline. He struggled, but he’s even par for the round. This has to be right center. Stock stock 4footer. He’s taking a few extra looks at this. Not so sure he’s real sure what this is doing, but I’m sure he’s committed to something now that he’s over it. No bird shadows involved. That one’s done. That’s for the future right there. Even through all the success he had there. Don’t they’ll write some notes in Harry’s book as they go to the 12th. You love this hole, don’t you? I do. I love the T-shot especially. And I do love this whole location. Front right. [Music] just over a little severe plateau. Oh, if you don’t get it up top, it’ll it hasn’t really done it this week, but it can sometimes run well off the green. Probably looking at that camera down there. Very difficult pitch. Taylor, what is it you like so much about this pin location here? I like to play it just inside that left bunker, Dre, and everything drips right towards the hole. That’s with your obviously your approach shot. I do like the T- shot, too. Just this beautiful treeline T- shot. This T-shot always terrified me. Probably the least altered hole over the course of its life here. Definitely left edge needs a little kick right. Perfect. Okay. Right. Bounce right. Perfect. I’m a bottom shelf guy, Dre, on this putting green. That top shelf concerns me, as it should. Tough to get it back there. This is bleeding right towards that large oak. There’s a creek way over there just to see. Was that it in the fairway? It may have pitched back into the fairway off one of those white oak. If so, that’s limbs just fine. Play the same shot again. [Music] [Music] world number one looking for major number three. It’s Scotty Shepard. Be as good as you look. My goodness. Look at this. That’s an eagle at Quail. Shepher sends shock waves around this PGA Championship. [Music] Yes, sir. Sheffller goes Eagle Birdie. And now he needs to buckle up with the green mile ahead. Boy, that looks perfect. And perfect it is. Scotty Sheffller to 10 under path. Number one in the world. And there’s a reason why. I mean, this is just a clinic. Greatness at its very best. It’s a Sheffller showcase performance. Extraordinary. The best finish ever since the PGA Tour came here to Charlotte. matching our colleague this week, Graham Delet, Rory Moy, the first time he won here 15 years ago and Dustin Johnson that same year back in 2010. That is a wonderful event that Dlette, Maroy, and DJ played in, but it wasn’t the PGA Championship. Zayen Hook with a big ball there. And Mroy with a love tap from that tree into the fairway. Yeah, that was a nice break there for Mroy. Once he gets beyond that oak, he’s got other little small trees towing. Uhhuh. 5 10. If it takes a hop, it’s going to funnel. We want to stay I think we’re trying to stay on this side of it. This gets pretty steep over here. It’s just easier if he finishes over this way. Did you say 10 on? That’s 34. 34. 34. Is there probably I was going to say eight. You want to split. 10. It’s a 10 to help. We’re talking 34. So that’s a 24 shot. 24. That’s an aggressive 24, man. Down on the stage. Yeah. On those. Yeah. That Yes. Yeah. Are you good with the picture and everything? Yeah. All right, man. Get to that. 127 playing up to 130. Let’s see if he plays this like you would, Taylor. Just a little long left and let it feed. This will turn around. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] How good is a delayed clap, Mark? Always makes you feel pretty good about yourself. Yes, sir. It’s been a while for me. Only had two birdies here today. Rory from 127. Christian was 137. [Applause] Didn’t get as high up the slope. Party putts at the 12th coming up for Rory and for Cristion. Pretty big ask to get it under the hole here to give yourself an uphill look. Yes, because you’re toying with staying on the green and that front right bunker. But we should hear some fun noises at seven, at 8, at 10, possibly here and at 14 and 15 and then might hear some different kind of sounds at 16, 17, and 18. I will say though, looking at this pin sheet, we call it pretty accessible for if you were going to set up potential scoring. You like all three of those on the last three? I I do. They’re not brutal. 16 is in the front. And that front apron is just fine. Or anywhere on the green. 17 everything bleeds from right to left like a bowl. Yep. I mean, you still got to hit beyond quality shot. The eight the hole on 18, that’s the traditional Sunday hole location. It’s where the hole was when Justin Thomas won in the back left portion of the green and it’s traditionally where the PGA Tour puts the whole on Sunday as well. The the problem is is anything short or left is going to funnel down towards the creek. But it’s a much more accessible whole location that front than that front left. That’s true. Yeah. Where we saw all sorts of trouble on Friday. Not to jump way ahead of ourselves. 14 is a complicated pull location today. Back right. That being the drivable 14th. Taylor, you played here a lot more than I have. I have this breaking just a little bit to his right, but very quick down the slope. That is confirmed. it. It’s more about speed than it is about break, but there should be maybe just a touch of left to right. Really, Dre, the beginning of this putt could go a little left, but then as it gets closer to the hole, it does go right towards that bunker. Think he could just keep it inside that left edge, but needs to gently tap it. [Music] [Applause] It did stay left. Yeah, he didn’t think so either. It’s [Applause] He thought he made it. He didn’t think it went left. It few feet further and it starts moving right, but it’s kind of hard to figure out where that break begins. Mark, do you utilize aim point? I do not. Yourself? No, sir. I guess I have my feet. I have bad feet. I feel like I have good eyes. I would agree with that. Let’s stay positive. Such a difficult putt. You have to start that so far outside the hole and it’s still crossed all the way over. They used to walk off the screen and to the left. Now they walk off of it to the right. I thought they might switch the tea location up a little bit this week. I think it stayed here for four straight days. [Music] You can see from that accurate graphic 18 ft or 6 yardds uphill they’ve been getting some help breeze behind here. Not that actually almost there’s not a really accessible easily accessible hole location but if there was today would be it. the back left section of the green. Anything lands five, six yards on the green, maybe maybe eight yards on should take one big bounce back to this section. That’s a person in the red right there. Balls are coming in a little flatter to this elevated green. Keying off six paces below the putting surface and balls have just been taking massive hops here in the last few days. What’s your what’s your what you think? I just want to wait for Okay. You like the six, right? Yeah. Well, if I hit this is what it’s been doing. like this. It’s not full. I think you just think it’s one of those where you just keep that body going. You know what I’m saying? If you work on that and you’re going to do that. So, let’s It has a tendency maybe if you do that. Go straight down the line. So, look at the guy in the blue. See that space right there? He’s just left of it. That’s it. Straight down wind at the moment. 212 playing up to 218. Probably want to send this upstairs if you can. And that’ll be okay. Just off the left collar. Think that peak height was 114. I’m going to go out on a limb and say this is 130. This will peek out well up in the sky. The line that Christian hit, green runs out just a little bit faster there on that left side than it does if you’re right of it. 131. That’s good looking. Yes, I’ve been on a track man or [Applause] two. Maybe Mroy will make some big moments around this lake in a minute. [Music] Welcome back to the PGA Championship where Rory Mroy hit it to 9 ft and we’ll be putting for birdie here shortly. I want to share with you one of my absolute favorite putting drills for exceptional distance control and that is a metronome. can simply type it into Google, set it on 78 beats per minute, and it does this little tick- tock noise for you here. So, your goal should be to keep tempo the same regardless of the length of your putt. And then just adjust the size of your stroke depending on the length of your putt. Swinging from T here to the beat in front of me. And that helps you make perfect contact every time as well as hit the ball the perfect distance with excellent tempo. Thank you, Natalie. And that sound is a pretty famous sound in the game that’s been used for so many years. Yeah, I bought one of those probably 40 years ago. Didn’t really know what to do with it. set it beside my bed at night. Stayed awake till 3:00 a.m. This is a quick little chip here down the slope. Breaking to his right, but very makeable. We’ll say it should propel quickly down that slope. So, I’ll give you my tip here. Your goal should be to leave it short of the hole. Just work your butt off to try to leave it short because you can’t. Carried that well on the green. Sure. He wasn’t trying to. I don’t belly it there, but I almost do. almost hood it off the the back foot and just play it almost like a putt. And so much depends on the actual lie. Well, that we can’t really see that closely. Looks like he’s got the greeny so far. But you can see that’s a lot of one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. That’s nine good birdie opportunities there. And that is not what we’ve been seeing on this this green this week. Still Bzaden Ho’s turn. Made a nice putt from this distance on 11 after a shot short of the green in the left greenside bunker to save par. and now has this uphill putt. Shouldn’t be more than right edge, but should hook a little bit to his left. His caddy isn’t involved as much on the greens as he is on full shots, that’s for sure. very frustrating bogey [Applause] there. You don’t feel like you’re really that much out of position for the T-OT. back to one over on his round. But you just have to work at those little ones right there. It’s just they’re not straightforward. Well, there is a lot of people around this natural amphitheater here at the 13th green. And this would create some noise if Rory can get this to fall. And it won’t be the first two he’s made on this hole in his career here. Half a ball outside the left. to stay committed. He can go ahead and give this a wrap. Looked very white open face to me. Those putts breaking away from your body are the toughest to get started online. I think still needs to pay attention to this one. [Applause] way. Yeah. So, walk up to the tea, try to drive the green. Take it away. You You know this hole better than anybody here. Well, this is a tough hole location today, Mark. That really, as you say, you hit one shot to play for the next shot. Yes, sir. Landing it down in that short apron area and still having it roll to the front of the green is your best bet. Play from the front front of the green to this back hole location. And if you try to take on that flag after off of the T. How’s the right bunker? The green side bunker. That’s fine. Not bad. It’s not bad. You’re a little shortsided, but obviously much rather be there than over to the left. This is less than driver for Rory here. Well, it’s only 293 to the front. I say only just helping wind too, Dre. Yeah, it is. And a tick out of the left. Downhill just a few yards. These guys are good, but they’re not a yard or two good from 295. Let’s just be be fair. You have a oneshot lead at 6:00 today. What are you doing? That’s a great question. and dead. The likelihood of that happening is not very high though. This is the left. Needs a lot of wind. Hit hit it wind. Maybe just above the line and went in. Yeah, maybe not. Did say above the line. I I think he’s right about that. But it landed above the line. So if that was yellow, he would either have to rete or go over to 16 green. Think boat. Should be a perfect driver distance for Christian. This is a great line. Yeah, it looked promising taking off. I’m going to say I’m going to say shut down ball. Full flaps. Triple flaps. All right. Get a putter on that. Beautiful shot. He could sell that one in a few hours. Sure can. There’s probably some handsome cash. Thrill rides over on the North Carolina South Carolina state line at Carowinds. [Music] [Music] looked like it was putting Justin Ray of the Athletics great golf statistician. He tweeted, “At 28 years old, Scotty Shoffler is seeking his third career major and 15th PGA Tour win today. Since World War II, only two players have reached both benchmarks before age 29. I bet you know who those are. I’ve already referenced them today. Tiger Woods and Jack Nicholas. We have a tradition at University of Texas Golf Club in Austin. They we have a kind of a wall of champions near our par three golf course. I love that course, by the way. And each win that a alum wins a tournament, they put a new plaque. We’ve had to build a whole new wall for Scott Sheffller. Understandable. He is uh been racking up very quickly. I think I took a couple of bucks off our director on that par three course as we listened to music a few years ago. That’ll be the speed lower 40. I guess it hopped in. This will be up and trying to get up and down for par. This ball flew a long ways into the green with a 3-wood. You know, when it’s all said and done, we could have two guys playing the game right now that go down as all-time greats. this man and the man that has that three shot lead today. Would be fun to get both of them going neck and neck in a major. Maybe that happens at some point this year. There’s a couple other names on that board that could make some noise in the next five years, next fiveyear window. John Rom, Bryson Mashambo, and maybe somebody that hasn’t broken out yet. Yeah, that’s just waiting for the moments. It’s always fun. One more thing about that stat we just read, you know, Tiger and Jack are the only two. I’m a firm believer that when you talk about the greatest players of all time, you don’t just talk about those two, you talk about one more. And his name is Ben Hogan. And what he did after that almost fatal car crash is more extraordinary than what he did before it. Here’s Maroy’s third. Pretty good recovery from there. perfect yardage for Bizaden Hood on a par4. Well, I had a sneaking suspicion it would be. And besides being on the green, this is as good a look as anybody’s going to have here today. Take that stick out here. Great motion there. Should lead to a bounce back. Birdie. [Applause] A similar putt to the last hole. Not going to break as much, but again sliding away from him from this 6t range. So Dre, the next time we play, there should be a point for up and down out of the sand. Sandies point for closest to the pin and a point for froggies. Water ball pars. This sounds like a hustle starting right now. I just want to play golf with you again. That’s all. I miss playing golf with you too, Taylor. Especially out here. This place is phenomenal right now. Oh. Pull face closed. It’s almost a par three and a half. That’s what I would That’s the way it played yesterday and today now that we’ve whittleled the field down. And now they move to the reachable as well. Par 515th hole. 586. It’s a little deceptive. It’s downhill sweeping right to left. Some players are taking it over those big pine trees on the left all the way down in there and leaving themselves really sometimes mid irons into this green. The longer hitters, it’s the number 18 handicap, meaning it’s the easiest hole in the golf course the other 51 weeks. And it’s same can be said this week. This left to right breeze is the complicating factor 100%. That’s not complicated though. No, he held it up against and Rory hit it out of bounds here yesterday. I think he was trying to take it over the trees down into that neck down in the bottom. Just blocked it and smashed it. He sure did smash it, hitting it over those bunkers. It’s 322 of them, but unfortunate caught cart path. And that was the end of that. The breeze is picking up just a little bit out of the left. If anything, maybe just a touch of help. I mean, it’s just begging for a hard draw. He went for it. Pumped it. And he did it well. It’s [Applause] That was sort of his patented shot shape for a long, long time. That hard drive. He’s hit a lot more fades than I’m used to seeing him with the driver. Big Spain in the house. John Rom tied for fifth going into the final round. [Music] The course doesn’t move. The opponent does. Ahead, behind, around the course, up and down the leaderboard. Both are the enemy. Not either or. Yes. And what a shot by Scotty. To win a major, you’ll have to beat the course and your fellow competitors. I think the first part of that that Wright Thompson just said is what Scotty Sheffller talks about all the time, isn’t it? Play the golf course. Play the next shot in front of you. And you could you could absolutely argue, Mark, that Rory Moy has his best might be better than the rest. But Tiger Woods included, I don’t know that I’ve ever seen somebody that is better at playing the next shot than Scotty Sheffller. Well, to add on to that, you need to not just play the next shot. You need to play the next shot with what you know you can do. Make sense? not what you hope or wish you could do and then flail away. Dance with the girl you brought. It’s just really remarkable to witness and get to see it here in Charlotte. Another smoked drive down there. The longest drive in the final round, which Yeah, Rory, how many times have we said that about Rory? Hole by hole. They both hit good ones here. And Rory out drives Bazaden Hot by 37 yards. 25. You got 93. I don’t know how he got 93. Must have added the uphill at talking about that left one there. Uh 16 on that 46. I would demand my caddy not give me that up. 209 218. The X-Man has a birdie putt up on the green. This was his third shot just a moment ago. So he has that for birdie. Let’s go up to the green now. This is also available on ESPN Plus. So Schoffley and Burns both five under on their rounds today. Those are the low rounds. They’re playing together. And they’re now tied for 17th. Three under. Just probably knocking skin off. Is it going to buy us a direction start line, do you think? Some debris on the golf ball here, Dre. Yeah, there. Now the blimp’s turn. He’s showing the same thing. Never real reassuring, but I don’t think it’s going to do a whole lot to it. I assume he’s just hoping it doesn’t. I think that was a great target. 277 all the way back to the pin and 252 to get to that front edge. It does play up nine paces from where he is. I know you didn’t want me to give you that number mark. No, just main things take out that first short bunker on the left and just give it a rip. He did rip it. This is just right of the greenside bunker. Little short. Nice spot. I didn’t want the number because I didn’t want to hear the biggest number to mainly just whatever it would have been to take that first bunker out of play. [Applause] Now you can start talking about uphill. 244. This is a four iron for Rory. Seven paces uphill but on a down slope. This will deloft his club just a little bit. probably going for a high cut. That’s exactly what he did. Losing it a little bit right. Not too bad over there, though. No, but that wasn’t what he was looking for. Tough tough call there. side. Ball above your feet trying to play the the fade. Ground says hook. So you know how crazy my brain is. So all these players, you know, a lot of they have teachers, gurus, is there such thing as a caddy coach? Like for real, a caddy boot camp, PGA Tour, or professional golfers? Caddy caddy training. I think they have to just kind of get it on the job and learn from each other, but it’s kind of interesting. Um, that’s a great question. It seems like there should be something. Well, I mean they have everything else is done by experts and but as an as an example, I mean Harry Diamond while he is a really good player and was a great junior player, jumped on Rory’s bag eight, nine years ago and learned how to be a caddy on the job and now he’s a phenomenal caddy. I’ve walked with him so much and learned so much from him as he caddies for Rory, but it was a total on the job training type situation. Brandon Parsons, who’s on the right side of your screen walking with Bizaden Hoot, he cattied for Justin Thomas, he cattied for JB Holmes, he cattied for Josh Teter. He was, I guess, what you would say is a professional caddy coming into this job. And as a really good player, Harry kind of knew what he probably would want and then he tailor it to what makes Rory tick. It’s just like this information feed. Everybody’s a little different. Some guys want, you know, all the numbers. Some guys want the critical numbers only. Dre, have you ever heard of that? Any sort of caddyy training? I thought that’s what the corn ferry tour was. No, I have not though. Um, I think a lot of it just is if you’re going to teach a caddy how to caddy, it’s easy to do the numbers, but trying to figure out the psychological parts of the game, when when to talk to your player, when not to talk to him. When your player’s playing well, you just kind of shut up and stay out of the way. Isn’t that the truth? And it gets very simple. Communications are shorter and more precise and even talk about a lot of things other than golf for the most part for this distance. Pretty straightforward. It’s not going to do anything crazy on the green. pretty much straight back up slope. Well, they ought to know the bounce by now. This is the fourth round. No check. A little loose there. The better your technique, the more you can focus on feel. Does that make sense? I just wanted to throw that out there. So, you got good technique. You can just start feeling these things. Letting the club help you do the work. Just going to kick left on the green. He’s thinking about making it. Put a little left to right check on it. just about did. [Applause] That was pretty true spin there. Uptown Charlotte, just about 8 miles from the course. 32 minutes by car. Beautiful country out here. Mark Brooks’s car will be driving from here to near there shortly. Stop and find a little barbecue on the way. Go with that bacon. I got a spot for you. This is going to be rather quick. Breaking hard to the right. Aimed well outside the left edge. I’ll be kind. Irritating to have that left birdie from where you were in two strokes. I had a tendency to run a little hot after a shot like that. I was going to say Unforced errors, man. That is the absolute epitome of golf. Putting was the problem yesterday for Bizaden Ho. Pitching seems to be the issue today, but still had two really good days to start. That’s maybe a step in the right direction in these biggest events. Now, Maroy to join Bazaden Hot on even par for the day. Moving just a little bit to the right. That’s better. And now he walks back to the new tea that was built for him that he has been Smoking driver over the fairway bunker. The beginning of one of the most challenging closing three-hole finishes anywhere in professional golf. The competitors this week are on the watch for the challenges and they look forward to the test of the green mile. The green mile is just a really tough test of golf with those gusty winds. You have to hit some really good shots and you also have to time it up um at the right time too. That place is never easy. Uh it doesn’t matter if you have no win or win, whatever. It’s it’s always hard. I don’t know what else to say other than I hit great shots on the last three holes. You just can’t do much about it. The iron on 17. I thought it was going to be in the middle of the green. We just got smoked. The the wind flipped and went right in. And that’s a game of golf. When it’s blowing like that and the green boot is firm, it’s it’s such a fine line with getting the ball close to the hole and feeling like you’re scrambling for bar. I can imagine those holes played under bar. And so for me at the end of the round, that was nice to steal a couple shots coming down the stretch. There is another part to the story today in this final round, but so far the championship lead by three for Sheffller was gained [Music] here. If you add all of this up [Music] together, that is a grand total of one over on average for the field on these final three holes. So truly where your score is coming in to this T-shot, chances are you’re going to play those last three. one worse than your score is when you’re on this team or not if you’re Scotty 200. I mean kind of keeping up with the scoring today. It’s a little better. It’s the best it’s been all week as far as to par. Entire fields only two over par 2 strokes. That is Rory waiting on Austin Kaiser who catties for Xander Shaflet putting his finishing strokes on this bunker up here with those rake. All right, they posted some more bad scores. So about a half a shot over par. Yeah, you better run Austin because you know Rory can hit it to right there. So they Rory proofed it sort of. Not really around 335 to cover that bunker on the right. What’s the breeze? Just a little down and out of the right. Does not bode well for the bunker. [Applause] All right, Green Mile Club is over there, Dre. And it is near it. I see people scattering that way. If they find it, he gets a free drop from it. I might try to get a free hot dog over there. It’s quite the spot. [Applause] That’s in the fairway, but that’s going to be a long ways away. What a good angle. The Green Mile take it and the Green Mile give it. [Music] back in 2017 in August. Less birdies than what we’ve had through three rounds in May of 2025. There’s Rory in the Green Mile Club. So, we’ll take relief and get around from this corner. It is a popular spot. controlling traffic. Good job. I’ll clean up my caddy. boot camp talk. You know, these guys are all professionals at this and I think the role of the caddy is importantly has been taken more on on more importance and they truly are part of these teams. Most of these players have good support groups. Ultimately, you want to be your own best caddy if you’re truly going to be a great player. You you ever been up here? Oh yeah. Are you kidding me? Will he be able to see the green? If he’s move If he Yeah. If he gets right near that path, absolutely. This will be the one and one. There’s a good chance he’ll be standing on the path here, but he doesn’t want to take any more relief to the right of that. Yeah. When this massive building is taken down, it’s not apartment structure. The one the one in one rule, they’ll find sight relief then a club link and he has to drop it outside of that first one inside the next one. That’s what I was referring to. It’s actually a good place to play from to this front left hole location. And they’ll deal with the cart path in a separate ruling here. So, he could actually drop it and stand on the path and play the shot. Yeah. Here’s a good virtual look at what he has left. He still might have a better See, which one would you pick? I’m going to take Rory’s all day. That’s a 131. Yeah, he’s going to gap wedge. Maybe he’s going to play it from Oh, come on. Sign me up. Here we go. No chance. Go for it. He’s just playing with the crowd. [Applause] I mean, he unlocked that gate. U chain link, but he can stand on the pass. That’s my point. That’s a separate obstruction. Mark, you know what the issue is here is that once he takes his relief over to the left with this wind coming out of the right, there are some PGA Championship flags hanging Yep. and blowing that way. And if he were to catch one of those, who knows where the ball goes from there. And of course, the issue on the left is the pine straw. So that’s why Saint is ready. 213 with the wind out of the right. Plays downhill about six paces. Looking to pitch this somewhere right on the front edge of the green or even short. [Music] Starting this out right and drying. This looks good. It is good. Really well done. I think I landed short in one of those immaculately immaculately maintained Tacoma approaches. Over this way. Over this way, guys. Over this way. Stay right there. Don’t come any closer. Don’t turn over this way. Don’t go any closer. So he has to dodge these flags on the green mile club Dre. Sorry. Say that again about the flags there. They are. He has to manipulate this ball around those flags as he plays to the hole. He does, but if he’s going to do that, that means he has to start it kind of at the water with a cut. 76.9 got a little more than 131 based on those. Off your right. Yeah. All in all, where everybody’s walking. You guys get wedge there. This is like hitting it off of the fairway. Yeah. He’s asking if you can get wedge there. So maybe a little further back. This This is definitely further back than I think I heard him say 176. That sounds more like actual But playing down and downwind. He hasn’t looked up much at these flags. Let him know, Rory. He’s going really over the heads of those people that are on the far left part of the fence. Yeah, we’re looking at 14 green fairway out there in the distance. It’s on the other side of the lake. [Music] This is linked out to the right towards the bunker. Needs to go [Music] just [Music] [Applause] short right. The old 16th hole is where the Green Mile Club is now. And where the 17th T is is where the 16th green used to be. And of course when they take this massive contraption down in the next few weeks, you can play from over. That’s a good place to play from over there to this front left hole location. That old 16th hole. Rory used to dominate it. Look at all that. In fact, a year before, well, actually, yeah, the last year that the old 16th hole was in operation, Rory shot 61. So, you could argue there isn’t a new course record when this hole has been in existence. Did they reconfigure the lake a little bit? They they cut out all sorts of trees that were down here. And yes, around this around the water just a little bit. Yeah. Used to be the the member tea used to be down there where the 16th green is now for the 17th hole. And when you played in the tournament, Mark, the 17th T was well to the golfer’s right of where the tee is now. Oh, really? Yeah. Okay. Well, this worked out. It’s beautiful down here. Uphill most of the way and then about 5 ft short, grain changes and starts sloping away from him. Gosh, he has spent all over the hole with that club today. Yeah, that was a deceptively difficult pitch. See what Drey’s talking about. That ball was knocked a few feet off of it. Could almost argue that power lipped out and gained a little speed. It definitely kicked down to a better angle for his putt. This is a very similar kind of reaction uphill the whole way and starts turning left once it crest that ridge. Most of the brake will come at the end. just hasn’t shown a lot of confidence on the green so far the last couple days. I can relate to that. Stays even on his round. Two over in total, tied for 45th. I believe they started the day T49. So, you can see the scoring’s pretty good today. This would be a very adventurous par if you can manage to find the bottom of the cup. Feels like it ought to be inside left or not much break left to right. Yeah, not much at all. Fairly straight just like that. Beautiful. Well, first leg of the green mile was entertaining. Now to the place that Justin Thomas had the best shot of his life. 216 today. We’re going to have a right to left breeze. And getting the pulling the right club and getting the right shot was difficult yesterday. Maybe they all learned something. [Music] kind of down in a bowl. Little swale down there. That’s it’ll accept a really really well played shot. Still going to see a lot of balls to the right. I sure am hoping that JT answered with this shot when you asked him in the dinner a few years ago. Of course, that was before he won the PGA that week in Southern Hills, but you asked everybody in the room what their best shot ever was. Justin hit seven iron from it was two actually 220 that day to a similar hole location to inside 10 ft. Made the putt. Ball game. I cannot remember what shot he did. Make something up, Mark. Well, I said if he doesn’t come with one, I’m I’m going to come with one. He hit a 3-wood at a another major from like 290 yards. Oh, yeah. Darren Hills when he shot 62. Yeah, that was a good one. That was pretty stupid. 63, I guess. Yeah, that was a stupid shot. Didn’t win, though. Cool. 10 on. Yeah. 10 on which is 99. Pretty similar shot. Yeah, it’s pretty similar. 96. I think Xander Sam Burns up ahead are still solve the puzzle. This is what Green Mile is partying both of those guys. Sander just made another double on 16 and just bogeied here. 16 200 shot. Sanders seven over on the green mile this week and he’s even par for the PGA Championship. Feels like truly he’s right in the hunt without the green mile, but everybody has to play this. [Music] This is a scary little pin right here, Taylor. Yes, sir. But hit Rory’s preferred shot shape over that bunker and let it drift to the hole. Wind is helping in that direction also. Probably about 5 miles an hour from the right. There’s still going to pitch, right? Yeah. Yeah. Good one of those. Come on. Still want to feel that. I mean, It’s so tough to feel the wind right here. It’s blocked out by the hospitality behind it. 95’s on 689. Okay, I feel like so Harry just came in, Dre, and said 189 to cover that bunker. That’s all they’re trying to do here. Just how far right do you want to hit this with draw and the wind helping it move left? [Applause] [Music] We can’t see if it’s in the rough or if it it it covered. It’s not in the water. He’s struggling to see it also, but there were no splashes, no ripples. He should be about 5 ft above the water [Applause] line. Feet off. It’s buried up in that Palmer Ry. You think needed another yard? Maybe two. Five. Yeah, two yards would have popped up. This is well right. This may even need to go a little bit. That was a poor strike right there. Landing in the walking pass short right of the green. Green mile is something, isn’t it? It’s ESPN Plus. [Music] Heat. Heat. Yep. Have Roy Moy and Christian Coming around the lake at 17. Their journey around four this beautiful lake is about to come to an end. Four rounds around this beautiful tough perfectly presented golf course. This is their 71st hole. No birdies today. Pretty obvious from the zero there. Jay, this is probably not as simple as it appears. It is not. Rory’s lie is atrocious. It is sitting way down. He’s going to check to see if it plugged, but I did see it bounce. Yeah, that looked thick. He’s just going to have to play that. But even with Rory’s lie, I would prefer his shot over that of Bizadenho. And I think I’d prefer it in a bad lie right there than in the lake 100%. So I mean, she can’t have it all. No wonder you won one of these things, Crusty. The first 20 ft or so of this green where Baden Hood is playing from is sloped into him and into the green. Going to need to land somewhere there with a little bit of loft because once it crest over that ridge at 20 ft has just run straight away from him. Not what he wanted, but I can tell you that ball was not going to get to the hole. Straight down wind. He’s having a little trouble with the pitching today. Did you wear gloves when you were pitching around the greens? Gloves as in plural? No. as in on my left hand. Yes, I’m right-handed. So, yes, I used uh rubber grips, too, though. I didn’t have cord, so I wanted proper tackiness. You probably have really soft hands, too, Mark. No, they’re still calloused up. My hands are as hard as my heart. Sure Cindy loves hearing that. Yeah, I’m talking about when it comes to this game. You play it long enough, it’ll it’ll grizzle you up a little bit. What I was going to say though, I mean, these guys have had a little bit of a mixed bag today, but good scoring is available and in true, I’m going to call it PGA championship fashion, they haven’t like made it by far the hardest, you know, setup today, it’s about like it has been and there’s plenty of birdie opportunities or, you know, hill locations you can get to. So, I think that’s pretty pretty cool. Cory Connor’s 5 under through5 today. There’s a lot of players under par. Sam Burns four under playing the last. Daniel Burgerer shot 68. Nikolai Hoyard shot 68. So you’re telling me there’s a chance? I’m telling you there’s some bad score. There’s some good scores and some there’s not too many bad scores today to be honest with you. Highest number posted 76. That was in a speed racer mobile first off. So yes, should be an exciting afternoon. This is very quick. Probably take a tap in. There was nothing good about that. Poor read. Poor speed. Just mind spinning on the greens for Bazen Hook. Still every shot is precious. Oh, let’s be fair. Some are more precious more precious than others. Okay. I hit a lot of shots that weren’t very precious. 20 ft kind of back up the hill. Yeah, that’s working in his favor. This ball just kept rolling once it passed on the chip. but did not break the [Applause] lick. One over in his round, three over on his week. [Applause] And one more to play. This one should be moving just a little bit to his left. Not a whole lot. 65th ranked player in the world. Two doubles on par threes today. Yeah. But he’ll be ready for next week. This was kind of a home home cooking tournament for you, Taylor. And next week, I’m very familiar with the next event on the schedule. Yeah, I’m excited. You get a home cook next week. And Cristian is going to play. Good track for him. I mean, I hate talking about guys that don’t hit it a mile. He hits it plenty far in Colonial. You don’t need a lot of yardage, honestly. It’s not the advantage there that it is some places. You’d like some yardage on this one. Well, I want it straight, too, to be honest with you. I need it in the shortcut. Otherwise, it’s a fairly complicated test if you do not find the fairway here. Just over 500 yards. The toughest part besides it’s just a tough hole today. Let’s add some left to right wind, which most of these guys don’t [Music] love. You almost have to start it down the creek and let it move to the right. Some of these guys like to play phase. 14 15 16 available to you. Shoffley and Burns are up on the green here at 18. Mroy and Visenhoot on the tea. All available on ESPN [Music] Plus. Reference the Charles Schwab Challenge and Colonial that is next week on the PGA Tour. Web Simpson who lives here at Quail Hollow is already on a plane headed there right now. 505 on the card today. 290 to that bunker on the right. Just looking to keep it left of it. [Applause] Yes, sir. And dare I say past it. I’m going to bet that’s past that bucker. Yeah. Yeah. Straight across left to right. 9:00. Golf architect’s worst nightmare. I can drive at 350 and hit it pretty straight. It’s a problem. This also up the left side. It’ll find fairway. Dial those up next week. He’ll be in good shape. Fort Worth. Get that putter straightened out the next few days. [Music] One of the great walks in championship golf down the 18th at Quail Hollow Club. What’s about to happen here this afternoon? Who do you like? The Wana Maker Trophy will be out there and Scotty Sheoffller will be raising it above his head. You asked me earlier, other than Scotty, who’s your who who’s your dark horse like that? Who’s your next pick? I’ll go Bryson since you went Rom. I I probably would have picked Rahm had you not. But um just to be different, I’ll I’ll go Bryson. I I think that all of the experience that the two of them have had in majors will help today. Uh Bryson has been around every major championship, at least in America, he’s been around every major championship leaderboard in the last year plus. Uh so I’ll I’ll say him. I I got a feeling about Ben Griffin that that maybe he keeps it going today and gets in the top five. Could see Keegan Bradley playing well. Well, I I do wonder. Norin hasn’t Norin hasn’t played much golf. No. In the last year. Riley and Poston haven’t been near the top of a major championship leader board. So, we’ll see how they handle it. Well, that’s the first time. How about you, Dre? If If it’s not Scotty, who is it today? Sorry, Dre. I know they were talking to you. If who uh if you don’t like Scotty, who do you like or who finishes second maybe? I know it’s an easy answer, but I like Alex Nor and I think that when he gets in big time situations that he has the ability to really focus in. So, I’d like to see him kind of break through. 18. I just don’t know if it’s going to happen, though. I don’t think anybody’s beating Scotty. I think we’re just causing hypotheticals, right? Predictive analysis. That’s what we do. Yeah. Just a cross up there. They They only remember when you’re right. Go for it. Speaking of going for it, from 212 yds and uphill wind out of the left. Not the easiest pin location. Starting to pick up a little bit. Yeah. Started at the right half of the green and sling it right to left. Go for it. This is struck nice. Right at the center of the green. Trying to crawl back on there. It’s good shot. 40 ft right of the hole. Just under under the hole. After a monster drive, only 160 left for Rory Maroy being three over par. He is a showman. I would expect him to go right at this wind out of the left for a moment there. Felt like it was back into him. Took a little extra time. Should be a nine [Music] iron. This tip went so solid the wind doesn’t touch me. This is blocked just a hair. Hold on. Walk up the 18th for the man that has dominated this golf course. Tom Weissoff dominated it back in the 1970s, winning on it three times. Mroy has won on it four times in the last 15 years. He says he needs to think long and hard about what’s next. He loves to compete. He wants to give himself some big goals in the game. But he also wants to enjoy this. He wants to enjoy what he just completed last month. There will be no calendar slam. There was a lot of talk about that after what had happened at the Masters. He wants to enjoy wearing that green jacket all over the place and he should. He also says he wants to come back and have a real member experience here. There are some other people in this room that would partner well with him given where their current inflated handicap is. How many people do you have in that room? Just a few. It’s not He’s not referring to me. That’s for sure. Yeah, we need to get Brooksie’s handicapped in the right [Applause] spot. Shots and T’s. That’s all I need. Plenty of shots and four T’s. You only have five birds here. Oh, yeah. Okay, that sounds right. Well, I’m not letting you play from them, but yeah, we have them. Something just north of 6,000 yards is about right up my alley right now. Just north. Got a 34 combo for you. These two will be quick. Rory will learn something from the Saden Hot. very quick and moving down to the left towards that creek on the other side of the hole cuz Aiden Hood made tour championship on the PGA tour last year. He’s been a consistent worldass player. What’s next is winning in this country and attending in these big events. He will be putting some time in on the greens next week. maybe around them, too. Well, they’re open tomorrow. They will be open tomorrow and you’ll be standing around them. Yeah. We’re We’re owed a Mark Brooks party at your place. I don’t have a home right now. I live on the road. You do have a credit card, though. All right, let’s see if Rory can make some noise here before he heads south. He has done it here in the past. A lot of people around this 18th green right now. turn. Not to be at the PGA this year, but plenty of chances left for the 2025 Masters Champion. [Applause] Just a little cleanup work here. Not a lot to this. Maybe just right center. There you go. Hope finishes at two over today. And that concludes our coverage. Andreas Gonzalez, fantastic job out there, my friend. Thank you, Taylor. It was a ton of fun working with you this week. Mark, you as well. Thank you. Until next time, John. And Sew Kim coming up next at 2:20 at the top of the hour. My good friend Will Hask is in here and he is ready to call it on ESPN Plus. Brooksie, God bless you, my man. I love working with you. Taylor, thank you. I’m sure you’re ready to take a break from me after 4 days. 30-year anniversary of your win next year. I can’t wait to celebrate that. Oh, the big guy is coming in. Brendan De Young ready to climb into the booth for that coverage. All right, we’ll we’ll do barbecue next year for that of the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club continues. John Rom and Sew Kim set to tee off at 220 for Mark Brooks and Andreas Gonzalez. For Joe Taylor, Chris Meer and our entire team, I’m Taylor Zarszer, Will, Brendan, and Ned Michaels with the call right after this short break. [Music] A spectacular Sunday to crown the season’s second major champion. The 107th PGA Championship rolling on here in the final round from Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is the ticket in town today. Will there be a charge in 20 minutes? John Ramen Sew Kim put a charge in this golf course at various times this week. Rom yesterday, brilliant. It was the brilliance, however, of Scotty Sheffller later that now has him five shots back. This duo looking to try and make a move. Will has it in with Brendan D. Young. Ned Michaels will be out scouting this duo. John Rom arrived at the practice facilities a little while ago knowing he’s probably Brendan going to have to do what he did yesterday if he’s to give world number one a fight on the back nine. Yeah, he really is. Um he is a naturally aggressive player. We’re talking about John Rom right now. Naturally aggressive player, Will. and he’s going to have to go out and he’s going to have to do it early. You know, uh comes in five shots behind. He’s gonna have to get off to a really fast start. And the same thing for Siu Kim. Seeu Kim’s never seen a flag he didn’t like. We expect him to fire at everything. And you know what? Maybe something’s going to come off for him. And why not? You know, we can see 65 or 75 today. That’s what we’re here for, right? to watch every minute of an interesting day because if the goal is to win, you know you’re going to have to do something special to make up that gap that you see there on the screen, especially the way the last hour of yesterday’s round went for Scotty Sheffller. Really changed the tenor and tone of this tournament. And I looked at the pairing sheet and and this was the pairing that I circled. The John Rom seek was the pairing I circled for the reasons we’ve just talked about. Two naturally aggressive players, two guys that really can go low. They can make birdies in bunches. And I tell you what would be so much fun for us to watch is they make some birdies in bunches early and they start feeding off each other. Get that crowd behind them. You look at his leaderboard right now. Ben Griffin’s three under through his first six holes. He’s made a jump into the top 10 as it’s going to be hard to miss John Rom today with that bright magenta hat on top of his head going through the final wedge warm-up on the range. And so because of that start, because of his natural aggressive tendency, he got off to the perfect start yesterday with a birdie at one. What do you think his target is? What do you think his mindset is right now? This is a golf course. You can’t be irresponsibly aggressive out of the gate on this golf course, but what is he thinking if he’s to run down his third major championship? Right now, he’s five shots behind Scotty Sheffller. John Rom needs to be thinking if I can be three shots behind Scotty Chef, maybe even two shots behind Scotty Chef by the time Scotty puts a peg in the ground to start. Give Scotty something to look at. Put give him a little bit of scoreboard pressure. It’s a little bit different when you’re five shots back of that guy in Scotty Sheffler. Does that factor into the calculus for a comeback script for John Rom against a player in Scotty Sheoffller who’s seven for seven now the last seven times he’s led at the 54 hole mark of a major or a a PGA Tour tournament he’s turned into an incredible closer in becoming the dominant force in the game 100% it plays into it and you know why Scotty Sheffller has become so efficient when it comes to closing is because he doesn’t beat himself he doesn’t make mistakes he doesn’t make the soft bogey out there and uh if you’re a John Rom, if you’re a Seaw Woo Kim, you cannot rely on Scotty to come back to you. You’re going to have to go out there and get it. We’ve talked about how hard the beginning of this golf course is, but I will say that in this final round today, Brendan, it’s a little bit more getable than we’ve seen the first three days. Eight birdies at one, eight birdies at four, 14 birdies at two. If you’re playing from the fairway, there’s an opportunity for you to go out there today and do exactly what you’re talking about and get off to that start that sends a message. You said it right there. It’s imperative that you drive the ball well. The only way to get aggressive on this golf course right now, especially these opening few holes, is you’ve got to play from the short grass. Very, very difficult to get the ball close to the hole from this rough. We we’ve talked about it at Nauseium. The the 5 in of rain that we’ve had this week. Well, when you get 5 in of rain and then you get some sunshine, all that rough does is grow. That rough has gotten so much thicker from the week start of the week. All right, one aggressive player to another as Rahm continues to warm things up on the range. That other is Siw Kim, 29 years young. You can see him always with a smile on his face, always willing to have a conversation with everybody on the range. And this is an opportunity for him to have his best major finish. If you think about in his major career, zero top 10s in his previous 31 major starts, just six top 25s. This is just the third time he’s ever made the cut at a PGA championship in his 10th appearance. But all of a sudden, he’s in the mix. And if there’s anybody that would sort of relish the opportunity to be a spoiler, it would be Siw Kim, who by the way, when the President’s Cup was here a few years ago, was kind of that spoiler, especially in Sunday singles. So, why not a guy like Sew Kim? Yeah, why not? And the more and more that I get to cover Siu Kim, the more and more that I like him. The stories come out, some that are suitable for air, some that are not. But he is he’s a funloving guy, and we talked about it at the open there. He’s a guy that will shoot at flags. He will go at every single flag stick. And if a couple of those start coming off, he is a guy that makes birdies in bunches. Absolutely does. His birdie average this year on the PGA Tour in the top 20 when it comes to that. He’s also top five when it comes to hole outs. We saw the ultimate hole out from him earlier this week when he had the hole in one over at the sixth. So Seiw Kim may be the number one player on the leaderboard, the first page of the leaderboard that could have that firework moment today. an eagle hole out, a pitch in, a chip in, something to bring some energy to the actual golf course, which he’s going to need with that five shot deficit. To the man at the top, the undeniable force that is in golf right now, 11 under par, that would be Scotty Sheffller. [Music] All along He lurked. Even when it wasn’t spectacular, he lurked. Lacking theatrics, one shot at a time for the first two days of the PGA Championship. Scotty Sheoffller lurked. The way I was hitting the first couple days, I was just doing my best to kind of stay in there. He’s just grinding and grinding. You got to love that. And then when it was time, oh, baby, be as good as you look. The world number one pounced. Sheffller sends shock waves around this PGA championship in an epic stretch that will no doubt add to his legend. This is just a clinic. Sheffller went five under through the last five holes. Perfect. It is igniting Quail Hollow into chance of his name that echoed long after his final putt of the day fell. It’s a Sheffller showcase performance. even letting out some rare emotion of his own. I felt like those were important pots at the end and a lot of emotion for me may not be a lot of emotion for other people. The leaderboard on Saturday was a carousel of contenders. Bryson Dshambo surged then stumbled. John Rom made a charge even if he tripped up too. 36-hole leader Johnny Vegas was up and down. Sheffller though, he just climbed. What he’s driven by is just stacking winds. steady early and spectacular late. Now he stands alone at top the leaderboard, entering Sunday as the clear frontr runner in pursuit of his first PGA championship win and third major victory. It’ll be precisely what he is all about, legacy. I’ve got a lot of great players chasing me on the leaderboard and um someone’s going to put up a a great round, so I got to go out there and have another really good round. Well, Brendon, two of those great players chasing him will be our feature group heading to the first TE in 12 minutes time. The question is, will they get an opportunity to chase down Scotty Sheffller or is yesterday’s perfect finish just a precursor for a perfect champion? [Music] Just a few hours left for one man. Today will be one of those memories that returns to him on his deathbed. I’ve got a lot of great players chasing me on the leaderboard. I got to go out there and have another really good round. Oh, he’s got a shot at this tomorrow. For everyone else in contention, it will be a lost feeling that they can’t quite reconja and an experience to learn from and also try to forget.
