A 35-year-old top golf caddie sent filthy photos and explicit texts to a 14-year-old girl he met at TRNSMT music festival.
Daniel Mulvey had travelled the world and rubbed shoulders with A-listers and even world leaders, including Donald Trump, through his career in golfing. His jetsetter lifestyle could come to a dramatic stop as he is now facing prison after sending graphic and inappropriate images to a teenage girl on Snapchat – including pictures of a man carrying out a sex act and explicit texts. Mulvey had convinced the 14-year-old to hand over her contact details while at the music festival in Glasgow, in July 2023.

The teenager’s family found out about these inappropriate messages and carried out a sting – recording the texts and pictures Mulvey, who has caddied at The Open and other huge global golf events on the DP World Tour, sent and took the evidence to the police, according to the Daily Record.
It is believed the caddie told the girl he was 24 when she asked on Snapchat and she was horrified to find out, at the time, he was 33 years old – 19 years older than her.
One of the victim’s family members demanded Mulvey face jail time. They said: “We were disgusted at what we were seeing and even more so when we saw how old the guy was. He is just a vile predator and people need to be warned about him.”
Mulvey, of West Kilbride, Ayrshire, was charged and pleaded guilty to sending sexual messages to the girl and making reference to engaging in sexual activity with her, between July 8 and July 9 in 2023, at a hearing in April at Glasgow Sheriff Court. He is due to be sentenced at the court on Friday.
The golf caddie could face a potential prison term, be put on the Sex Offenders Register and see an end to his successful career. The caddie had posted pictures of him posing with the US President, golf legend Gary Player and major winner Padraig Harrington, as part of his flashy life.
The victim’s relative said he was furious at the way Mulvey carried on with his sleazy messaging after being explicitly told she was 14. He told how Mulvey’s response to being told her age was to ask: “Can I trust you?”
The relative added: “We checked the guy’s social media and he’s on Facebook and Instagram boasting about how he was travelling the world as a big time golf caddy. He’s got photos from Dubai, Australia, Japan – all over the place, living the high life.
“He’s been pictured with Donald Trump, Gary Player and Bob MacIntyre. But at the end of the day he’s just a low life paedophile who targeted a 14-year-old girl.”
The source said that Mulvey – who recently worked with professional golfers Guido Migliozzi, of Italy, and Finland’s Kalle Samooja – had the chance to back off when it was made clear how old the girl was. He said: “He didn’t back off. He upped the stakes and started asking horrific questions about her sexual experience.
“He said he didn’t care how old she was. And then he asked if he could trust her, which is appalling because it’s just grooming talk. He went on to send a video, where he appears to abuse himself. He deserves to go to straight to jail and he should never work in such a high profile job again.”
He added: “It came to light that the girl was getting messages and we had to decide whether or not to shut it down or to go to police. We were aware that taking a screenshot would alert him, so another phone was used to record him.
“He just kept sending messages that were getting worse, so he deserves any punishment that comes his way. Who knows how many other children he has tried stuff like this with?”
