Leona Maguire faces a battle to make the cut ahead of next week’s US Women’s Open at Erin Hills after opening with a three-over 75 in the Mexico Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba.
The Co Cavan star (29) missed seven greens in regulation and trailed Japan’s Chisato Iwai, Korea’s Jenny Shin and Filipina Bianca Pagdanganan by seven shots at Playa del Carmen.
