If it’s mental, yes. Physical, it takes some time. That’s interesting. Very analytical. Plays golf by the numbers. Well, the physical looks pretty good there. Cut all the corner and that’ll be a wedge in a shot when he could get away with it on the par five to one in Fitzpatrick. That’s just a pitching lantern just outside 150. John, I think the front hole locations on this golf course with the false trunks are the toughest positions. Getting ready to go. You just saw that Fitzpatrick has gotten to four. Here’s how [Applause] 172 and he’s talking to it now. Now Matt Fitzpatrick has got a very awkward one here. Everything runs away from him. It was one Steve I don’t think he could have landed it on the green crossanded. Another look here. About a quarter of the player stays focused, kept his poise, and he’ll have a birdie put on 18-2. Par putt on a long one for Fitzpatrick. Yeah, drove it in the rough, missed green to the left. Matt Fitzpatrick with the honor. Good start there from Matt just down the right center. Second for Fitzpatrick on three. And on the middle of the fairway hole framed just beautifully with these big oaks on the right, left some 50 yards short of the green. Now Fitzpatrick for his birdie on three. Not much movement in it. [Applause] That’s a great point. I always love watching the dynamic between a threesome. Now Fitzpatrick for birdie at the fourth. A bit of a double breaker. The 156 has already played through plus some afternoon rounds. That’s not many birdies at seven. He’s looking toward the bunkers here. Bunker bound right there. That’s not all bad for that bunker. Big back swing. Good whack. Somehow go. Somehow go. Go, go, go, go, go, go. Oh, it’s going to be great. Go, go, go. How about that? Begging’s okay. Talk to it. Good pace. Matt Fitzpatrick worked hard a few years ago to gain strength and length. That’s worked out. A big one off the tee and his second. That from 236. And Lowry, as you can see, wasn’t pleased. As we go to seven, left hand low. [Music] Thought he might make it a moment ago. Had a run at it. Got Fitzpatrick ready to go. Starting down that right side and not coming back. That might be just short of the bunker. Get that sorted to eight. And Matthew Fitzpatrick. Not sure where he ended up off the tee at eight. Shorter par four far. Looks like he missed it way right, but he’s down about 65 yds in the rough short of the green. That one’s going to roll back as we’ve seen a couple of times now. There’s that ridge up. Fitzpatrick’s birdie putt. It’s a slow one. Didn’t get it there. Well, Phil has always figured out something with the driver, hasn’t he? That’s got to sit just a little bit. He hit it so poorly. He’s okay. where the birdies have come from, very few at this hole and where our group stands in terms of how they’re playing their second. Just over 230. This might be the best swing of the day for Fitzpatrick. Oh, what a shot. Oh, he just got a good bounce forward. That would have been so good. Stay ball. Just a straightforward pitch up the hill. Left hand low. See if it’s Patrick can save his paw. Well done. 90 yards of difference between those two drives right there. That’s incredible. Okay, Matt has found four fairways so far today. And this is another missed fairway. And I think it just missed the bunker. Just left of the bunker. It’s great line and suits his natural shape. Taking it down that left side. It just pulled it just a little bit, but that should be in pretty decent shape. Missed the green on the correct side. When the flag is right, you have to miss left here. That’s beautiful. Beautiful for Fitzpatrick. [Applause] That one. Not a breath of wind. Perfect there. He teed it up against the right T- marker and hit a fade. Wow. Flags right on the crest of that dividing ridge. It’s a really good looking line here, Steve. Oh, stay bomb down the middle. N from 163 to right here. Okay. So, 125 for Matt. Can use that back [Music] stop. So, you go. It didn’t curve. It’s perfect. [Applause] Check out this close-up view. Now you see it, now you don’t. Make him play another one. We’ll go up ahead to 12. Fitzpatrick and a 12-footer for birdie. Big curler. It’s Patrick. If you’ve missed the green, it’s Patrick. This one is flared out to the right. We have seen a lot of that. That’s what you see when you’re not committed. It’s hard to commit on this team, but you have to do it. Now, John McInness, what does Matt Fitzpatrick have? Nothing. He stood with hands on hips trying to figure out how to get this ball anywhere near the hole, and this is what he came up with. So, now that that’s not going to be an easy two putt. Well, John McInness, was I right? This is going to be a challenging two putt. It will indeed. They let the group behind hit up, so he’s had about 10 minutes to think about it. That’s really good speed right there. Yeah, the extra time helped, I guess. So, take they could take more notes. Missed one shorter than this earlier. Not that one. That is found the bunker and you can only hope for a clean line. This is smart here. Take plenty of loft. Find the fairway. Take your medicine. We couldn’t see where that ended up, Gary. [Music] He’ll take a big rip at it from the rough adjacent to a tree. A lengthy birdie attempt from Fitzpatrick to get to within one of the lead. swinger from right to left. [Music] The way he played this old far is a good score. And that Fitzpatrick’s second. It’s 205 down the hill. It’s not [Music] cutting. And bit of an obstruction on the green there. Apparently, it was trapped in the bunker for a while. You didn’t go help it. 16. And Matthew Fitzpatrick. Lot of work here for a three. Yeah. Up and over a ridge, then back down toward the hole. About four feet. We’re not going to show early golf. We’re going to show a highlight. Show 17. Fitzpatrick on the T. Just a little puff of help. Very quick at the back of that green. Well, that’s going to be a long putt for Fitzpat. He just had a long one at 16. Now it’s Fitzpatrick’s turn. John McInness. If he gets this inside six feet, he’s had a great putt up this ridge right here and then back down to the hole turning right. This is incredible. That is A1 spectacular right there. Hang on. Just drifted down that right side. That that bunker is not bad. Oh, that’s a great bounce. It looked like to me just in the of all the amazing things, the fact that Scotty Sheffler made double it and still had the tea. and he laughed about it afterwards. You know, they’re making this shot look easy. Fitzpatrick with a wonderful shot just to right of the hole, but coming out of the right rough, that water is very much in play. Now, this one from Fitzpatrick. His speed control today has just been incredible. Yeah, you saw that two putt on 17, John, was 14.

  1. Fitzpatrick's driver swing is starting to look more like Bryson's and he has gotten stronger. Hmm, I remember Fitzpatrick criticizing Bryson's bulking up and driving it long a few years ago. The innovators always take flak.
