Every single year we see the NFL season chew up a segment of its head coaches. I think he’s a heck of a coach, but I think his time potentially may be done there with the [Music] Giants. How about we take a look at the season to come and see if we can identify 10 NFL coaches that’ll be fired before the end of the 2025 season. Raheem Morris, Atlanta Falcons. Ricky Morris waited 14 years for a second head coaching shoot and unfortunately he might not have much time to hang on to it. Morris inherited a talented if uneven Falcons roster and a major quarterback controversy centered around their big ticket man and Kirk Cousins and the secondyear signal caller Michael Penn Jr. who usurped him last year. The biggest red flag about Morris’s actual performance thus far has been the details around game management, particularly the clock. This was put on display in a brutal week 17 collapse that played a major role in Atlanta missing the postseason. If Morris has more blunders beneath the national spotlight, well, we could see him get pushed out and forced into a coordinator role elsewhere once again. Shane Stiken, Indianapolis Colts. Shane Stiken inherited a rather murky situation in Indie. And to his credit, he managed to keep the Colts competitive in 2024, coaxing just enough moments of competence out of Anthony Richardson and whoever else ended up under center despite a deeply undercooked passing game. Unfortunately, most all of the goodwill earned from that overachieving first year has started to fade out. And now they’re heading into the 2025 season without much to show for Stikken’s tenure. And with the organization’s decision to roll the dice on Daniel Jones, yeah, that Daniel Jones as a supposed stabilizer. This isn’t necessarily about Stiken’s playbook. Access wise, he’s done a good job. It’s all about optics, timing, and well, volatility. Jim Mercy’s patience is starting to wear thin, and in many ways, Stikken is simply on the wrong side of general manager Chris Ballard’s seemingly unlimited leashing incompetence. Stikken is not the problem here, but coaches in his spot rarely get the benefit of the doubt. He’s caught between a desperate front office and an erratic owner. Two forcers that tend to crush the middleman. Mike McDaniel, Miami Dolphins. If 2025 brings more of the same that we’ve seen down in Miami since Mike McDaniel took over, you know, injuries, late season fade outs, or playoff whimpers, McDaniel could join the long list of brilliant play callers who never quite made the leap to sustainable head coach. His vision of a highpowered, dynamic, and creative offense is very clear. The results, a little less so. It’s unfortunately starting to seem like he might be more of a one-trick pony more than anything else. That trick, of course, is speed and space with two attack pulling the trigger. But designing an offense to work only if your quarterback avoids any contact is not sustainable. That is playing football on eggshells. The affforementioned injuries of course have been a huge issue for McDaniel. When Tua plays, McDaniel is 25 and 16. Without him, the Dolphins are just ordinary. And that’s the problem. And it’s made all the more severe by his inability to schematically keep Tua out of harm’s way. The reality is is that at some point the dolphins have to evolve beyond the Tua tether. And if they can’t find a way to compete in a meaningful way in 2025 and the wheels come off mid-season, well, don’t be shocked if McDaniel gets the boot. Kell Moore, New Orleans Saints. Kell Moore has been one of the NFL’s favorite next head coach in waiting for what feels like, I don’t know, half a decade. But now that he finally has the job, well, the context couldn’t be messier. And you got to think that he’s kicking himself for not jumping at a different opportunity sooner. The Saints are fresh off a very turbulent season that saw Derek Carr ravaged by injuries yet again. And now he’s announced his retirement unexpectedly, leaving Moore with a roster full of mismatched pieces and few clear solutions under center. That is not an ideal setup for a firstear coach trying to prove that he is more than just a young offensive mind with a good PR team. Unless Moore can get immediate buyin from a locker room in flux and gets something tangible out of whoever ends up playing quarterback, this could end up being a one-year experiment that flames out fast. Brian Shottenheimimer, Dallas Cowboys. All right, here’s a bit of a hot take for you. Brian Shottenheimimer is not going to even make a full season as the Dallas Cowboys head coach. That franchise has been spiraling as of late. And this is the season that everything flushes down the tubes entirely. And Shottenheimimer will end up being on the wrong side of that. Because let’s be honest, Brian Shottenheimimer was not hired to be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. He was hired to be a convenient, controllable extension of Jerry Jones. Look, that’s not a knock on Shottenheimimer’s decades of NFL experience. This is cold hard fact because when your last offensive coordinator stint was as forgettable as Jodenheimer’s, it’s hard to justify this leap unless someone upstairs decides that they wanted a yes man. That someone of course is Jones who hasn’t truly empowered a strong willed head coach since Bill Parcels. Furthering the issue for Shottenheimimer, the Cowboys aren’t exactly built to win now, but their owner just doesn’t understand that this team is wildly uncompetitive for the next year. But Jones has deluded himself into thinking that this move can ascend the Cowboys back to forgotten glory. But the more likely outcome is that they underperform, at least of his standards. Jones gets impatient and Shottenheimimer ends up getting the boot. Brian Table, New York Giants. The Brian Table experience in New York has been a roller coaster to say the least. It’s not often that a coach wins coach of the year and then finds himself on the hot seat two seasons later. But then again, it’s not often a team wins a playoff game with Daniel Jones, only to immediately fall off a cliff after extending him. Table’s first season looked like a miracle. The offense hit its limitations. The defense made just enough timely plays, and somehow the Giants stole a postseason win. But the last couple of years have made it all feel like less of a miracle and more of a mirage as the Giants have been riddled with injuries, regression, and a quarterback situation that has completely unraveled. Now heading into 2025, the Giants are rolling the dice with a three-headed monster of James Winston, Russell Wilson, and Jackson Dart, and hoping for a lightning strike. That wouldn’t be such a red flag if this wasn’t also a referendum year for Table, who is simultaneously trying to reclaim play calling duties and his reputation. Winston or Wilson may start the season, but Dable is betting big on the rookie. If Dark doesn’t flash early, or if the offense stumbles out the gate again, the Giants could be in line for another overhaul. Dable is a likable football guy, but likable doesn’t keep you employed forever in the NFL. Ryan Callahan, Tennessee Titans. On one hand, Brian Callahan was given a shot to be a head coach in Tennessee. The question is though, did the situation he walk into give him a fair one. Unfortunately for Callahan, Tennessee might not be capable of that. The Titans are a team in transition with one of the league’s most depleted rosters of 2024. They stumbled to a 3 and4 finish and were often flatout unwatchable. They landed the number one overall pick, which of course is a good thing. But on the other side of that coin is a reality that Callahan has to hit a home run with it and fast. But if award stumbles or the team looks just as disjointed as it did last year, it’s not going to matter. The Titans rebuild needs a face. If Callahan can’t become that face quickly, well, he may end up being a placeholder for the next regime. Dave Canales, Carolina Panthers. While there were definitely signs of improvement down the stretch of the 2024 NFL season for Carolina, the Panthers still looked like a team light years away from relevance. And while Young’s improvement in the back half of the season was a positive sign, the broader offensive picture remains erratic and toothless. Now heading into 2025, the spotlight turns back to Canalis. Owner David Ter is not exactly known for his patience or for his good sense for that matter. And with another full off season to build out his vision, there won’t be many excuses left on the table. This year is about progress. Measurable real deal progress. If Young plateaus or if the offense still can’t find its footing, Canelis could quickly fall out of favor. Especially if some of the other rebuilding teams start to flash. The room for error is razor thin in Carolina. The Panthers gave him the keys and now he has to prove that he can drive the thing. But man, it is going to be uphill. If he can’t figure it out and the Panthers regress in any sort of significant way, then well, the tides could quickly turn against Canales. Jonathan Ganon, Arizona Cardinals. After two seasons, Jonathan Ganon is the proud owner of a 12 and22 record. And uh well, there’s still no real identity to point to with this Cardinals team. Sure, the defense has improved in flashes. The offense has occasionally shown some spark, but for every step forward, there’s like a step or two back. And with Kyler Murray now healthy and surrounded by more talent than he’s had in years past, expectations are going to be very real in 2025. The Cardinals have one of the softer schedules in the league and a fan base itching to believe that this thing is finally turning around. If they don’t capitalize, if they’re still losing winnable games or Murray looks disconnected from the scheme, well, it is going to fall squarely on Ganon. This is one of the trappings of culture setting. Eventually, people stop grading your tone and start grading your win- loss column. Ganon has one last real shot to prove that he’s more than a storyteller and that he can actually coach this team to tangible results. If the Cardinals underwhelm again, it’s hard to see him getting another year. Zack Taylor, Cincinnati Bengals. Zack Taylor is a tough one to pin down. He coached in a Super Bowl not that long ago, post one of the best quarterbacks on earth and built a locker room that generally believes in him. But look a little closer and the cracks start to show. Through six seasons, Taylor is actually under 500 and the Bengals have made just two playoff appearances. Of course, he has a bit of a copout with Joe Burrow missing some time. I mean, Taylor has no doubt been dealt a difficult hand injury-wise, but this is still a results business, and at a certain point, the Bengals need to start cashing in. He’s not on the hottest of seats this season, but if things start slow, it won’t take long to warm up in a severe way. But which NFL coaches do you think are going to get fired before the end of 2025? Who do you think we’re right on here? Who do you think we’re wrong about? Is there anyone that we may have missed? Mike M is a good coach in Miami. SF loved him. The problem is you need good backup qbs when your qb 1 gets hurt. One year the niners went through 4 and ran out. Backup qb is important if Tua gets hurt.
My opinion on each coach hot seat prediction:
Raheem Morris (Falcons): Unlikely, but can also depend on how things go for the Falcons in 2025.
Shane Steichen (Colts): Very likely, especially if Richardson doesn't make major improvements in his 3rd season. Can also see GM Chris Ballard getting fired with him.
Mike McDaniel (Dolphins): Could happen if the Dolphins don't make it into the playoffs, don't win a playoff game and Tua isn't able to stay healthy for an entire season. Could potentially see GM Chris Grier also get fired if these three things don't happen as well.
Kellen Moore (Saints): Highly unlikely, shouldn't even be on this list since he is a first-time head coach and the Saints are in serious rebuild territory at the moment.
Brian Schottenheimer (Cowboys): Very likely, especially since everyone thinks he shouldn't have been hired in the first place and would get fired if the season completely spirals downwards.
Brian Daboll (Giants): Very likely, especially with the QB battle on their hands. Also very likely that GM Joe Schoen will be fired as well if they end the season with another losing record.
Brian Callahan (Titans): Very possible.
Dave Canales (Panthers) Unlikely, especially with how Bryce improved as a quarterback towards the end of last year, but can also depend on how things go for the Panthers in 2025.
Jonathan Gannon (Cardinals): Hard to say, could be possible if Kyler doesn't take a big step and the offense and defense don't perform especially with the roster additions they made this offseason.
Zac Taylor (Bengals): I can see this happening if the Bengals don't make the playoffs again for the third straight year in a row. I will say, if does get fired, he will become one of the top names in the next head coaching cycle, considering he did lead the Bengals to the Super Bowl a few years ago.
My honorable hot seat prediction: Kevin Stefanski (Browns)
Look at all those draft picks they got for the Laremy Tunsil trade and the 49ers to trade up and get Trey Lance! Did they do anything with those picks??
Raheem Morris…
We fired his 🫏 and won a super bowl.
Worst clock manager ever
How many more runner up trophies is Sean McDermott going to get before he gets the ax?
Hey, I gotta question….
I’m 18 and new to history or newly found the love of history. I asked my grandpa about this but he gave me an explanation…. That when I typed it on YouTube, it disappeared!!!!
Why do people throughout history give J€w$ a hard time? And do they deserve it?
The guy from Cincinnati is toast when you screw over your best defensive player you never win!
Why is Tomlin not here? It says it all when I had to witness that we lost to freaking Blake bortles!
How is Mike Tomlin not on this list…?
Mike McDonald in Seattle. Sam might not pan out. Should be interesting.
Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen are not on the hot seat, at all. The original mandate when they took the job was to build the team up and do everything they could to make it work with Daniel Jones. That was for Mara, he wanted to give DJ every chance to succeed. They did their part and tried but DJ just wasn’t salvageable. Mara is a man of his word and now Daboll and Schoen have at least three more years to do this thing their way. Daboll will only be on the hot seat if things don’t start looking up over the next three years at least.
Raheem Morris…worst Rams defensive coordinator ever. Clueless. Every play regardless of field position. “Prevent-10 yard cushion-zone-let em catch it then we tackle”….also known as the “bend & break” scheme. DEI hire.
Mike Tomlin should be on that list.
As a panthers fan for the love of god don’t fire canales. This off season plus the last 7-8 games of last szn is the first time I’ve had hope for this team in like 10 years. We slowly started gaining ground last season for the loveeee of god let us grow and let canales develop as a HC
Todd Bowles of the TB Bucs
Raheem Morris is the first one on the list for a reason. Awful hire. We already fired this guy once. He may not make it past game 8 or 9. Has no game management skills. The only reason I can see he was hired was purely political.
McDaniel is terrible
I think morris is safe as long as the falcons don’t have a loosing season
Kevin O'Connel in Minnesota isn't on a "Hot seat"… but a winning regular season with absolute playoff failure and in some cases playoff embarrassment….will put him on a fast track to the unemployment office.
No one cares!!!
I don't see Gannon getting fired, but I could see them make a change at offensive coordinator and get a qb in next year's draft if Kyler doesn't pan out, but I hope he does.
Replace Kellen Moore with either Todd Bowles or Kevin Stefanski
Man half of yall were glazing McDaniel whenever he came in but now yall hiding behind a screen trashing is just the most pathetic thing ever😂
Cleveland head coach 🤷♀️
regarding the narrator of this I love that phony radio voice he has and those phony inflection he puts in his voice
Kellen Moore??????? He just started bro how tf is he gonna get fired by the end of the season??
Coaches that I believe will fail this year Mike Tomlinson Ben Johnson , Mike Macdonald Brian Dabol you mentioned HOT SEAT BRAIN STEFANSKI was not mentioned Mike McDaniels a weasel and cant lead
I dont think 10 is realistic. Unless you mean by end, not halfway. Only a poorly ran team will axe before the end of the season. Having said that, dallas i doubt will go middle, unless the coach cusses out jerry. I can see the giants, the rest? Might not be midseason, but possible end of season changes. Maybe browns, but that's less front office and more ownership issues. Hottest seats at the moment, giants, arizona, and as much as i dont like it, miami.
I hope they give Moore longer than one year with a terrible roster. It's not a fair test. I get that nobody's making owners be fair, and they may well not, but I hope they keep him long enough to see what he can do with an even marginally decent talent level on his team, because this squad is absolutely not his fault.
3:20 Disagree with that pick. He hasn’t even coached a game yet. If it was year two or three, you’d have a case!
Tomlin should be gone
In what world will kellon Moore be fired in his first season with this roster?
After that terrible take on Bucs future being dark I’m surprised they didn’t put Bowles on here 😂
TPS doesn’t know sports they should probably stop making these
Gannon got atleast a year and a half
Fire coach Staley again
I think it is better to hire defensive head coaches. Because at some point defense is defense. In the case of the Miami Dolphins it would be foolish for ownership to fire Mike McDaniel. They'd be a complete disaster for many more years to come. This team, especially on offense is built around his scheme. Bringing someone else in would do more harm than good. Zac Taylor isn't on the hot seat either. Put aside the fact that the Giants are usually pretty patient when it comes to making coaching changes. Brian Dabol isn't at fault for the GM or owners extending Daniel Jones. If the Giants GM keeps his job then there's no reason to think Dabol won't keep his. Unless they convince their old 2x SB winning Defensive Coordinator and 8x total SB championship coach Bill Belichick to come coach for them.
Rip Jim
How will Jim Irsay's death affect things?
Is it bad if coach gets fired after they go 9-7-1 (daboll) 11-6 and 9-8 (McDaniel) 9-8 for Steichen they all had winning teams
Titans Fan Here! I don't think Brian Callahan will be fired this season, I think he has another season, possibly two seasons before they let him go. As this is him going into a second season, He's working under a whole new general manager and roster to some regard. I do think think his play calling abilities will definitely be On the forefront this coming season. I feel like last season he came into a somewhat chaotic situation And this year It's going to be pretty much the same. Hopefully he can get at least A few more wins under his belt as compared to last season. He's not no Mike Vrabel in any aspect, and who I feel would of still been with the team had it not been for Ran Carthon and Amy, maybe even Derrick Henry as well, if not in his case a short extension. I give it this 2025 and 2026 season to determine if he'll be gone, IMO.
This news killed Jim Irsay
Some of the first year coaches won’t be fired.. some yes.. but I see some of the mid teams that aren’t taken that next step up.. Steelers.. broncos.. maybe Texans.. ravens..
some of these guys been around and not took a step forward..
Steichen might have bought himself some time with the passing of Irsay
