Tier Hatton is no stranger to oncourse meltdowns and during the second round of the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, the English golfer once again lost his temper in spectacular fashion. After briefly edging into contention, Hatton’s frustration boiled over following a disastrous hole, resulting in an exploitive laden rant that left broadcasters scrambling. The Liv golf star began Friday in a strong position, sitting at three under par after an impressive opening round of 68. Starting his second round on the 10th TE, he added an early birdie and climbed into a tie for second following another birdie on the 17th. But just one hole later, disaster struck on the 494yd par 418th. Hatton opted for a driver off the tea, but saw his ball veer into the water. Furious, he glared at the club and unleashed a tirade, shouting, “Piece of S asterisk asterisk c asterisk t.” A moment that was broadcast live on Sky Sport. Commentators were forced to apologize for the language as Hatton’s mood and game continued to unravel. After a penalty drop, his third shot from the rough on the left flew into more trouble on the opposite side of the fairway. His next attempt barely escaped the tall grass and fell well short of the green. Visibly seething, Hatton then overhit his approach, sending the ball through the green. He managed to chip back within 6 ft and hold a difficult putt for a triple bogey 7, wiping out all of his earlier progress. Unfortunately, this wasn’t an isolated outburst. On Thursday, during his opening round, Hatton reacted angrily after a poor T-shot on the par 317th, screaming, “Oh my god, worst f asterisk asterisk asterisk asterisk g as the ball missed the green in time.” Hatton’s frustrations carried into the back nine on Friday, where he quickly dropped another shot and slipped to five strokes off the lead. With emotions running high and his scorecard deteriorating, his dream of capturing a first major title looks increasingly unlikely. At 33, Hatton is wellknown for his fiery temperament. But with the pressure of major championship golf mounting, his latest outbursts have again drawn criticism and attention for all the wrong reasons.
