Les, with your director of football hat on looking at the salad deliberations, all those contract negotiations that have gone on, how much a relief is it at at board level as much as anything just to have this deal done? I think at board level um yeah, you know, one of the best strikers in the that’s we’ve ever seen in the Premier League to to keep him for another couple of years. Um the negotiations I can imagine at his age from board level would have been what it wouldn’t have been if he was 27 years of age. Difficult for them to to break their their structure to do it to look at a player who’s in his 30s and say we are going to give him this 2-year extension. Yeah. Difficult. But then when you look at the numbers that he’s throwing up and year in year out, you’re saying to yourself, then we we have to keep him because to replace him, you’re going to you’re going to spend a lot of money and you’re still going to spend a lot of money on the wages of that that person anyway. And they’re not going to be able to guarant well, you don’t know if they’re going to guarantee you the goals that he’s been guaranteeing Liverpool week uh year in year out. So from that perspective, I mean, when you look at MoSalah, he was always very cool about it because all he was doing is playing his football, scoring the goals, and the more goals he was scoring, the more pressure Liverpool was under. And Roy, you know all about refreshing squads that have have been successful, but is it also about making sure that you keep the players in there who who have got you to that position as well? Yes, particularly the star players and and no doubt he’s a good pro as well in the background, which help is a great example to all the young players. We see him doing it week and week, scoring the goals, the assists, and put it the difference would be if he if you put him in the Arsenal team, Arsenal would be would win win the league this year. That’s how special he is. So, I’m kind of glad they got the deal done. you know, it really is cuz you want the top players to play in the Premier League. Um, it was only a matter of time, I think, that they got it agreed. I think he deserves it. He’s a special player and no doubt a good pro and and you’re on about, I suppose, making changes at the club, having um kind of targets regarding not giving contracts to certain players, but you know, every player can be different. And you look at his, we’ve seen him get interviewed many times and we’ve seen him, he’s a proper pro. He’s a fitness freak and he’s doing the business and that’s why they had to give him the deal. They could they just couldn’t let him walk out the door on a free. One of the things that he’s talked about motivating him are these personal records and the fact that he’s now staying in the in the Premier League is contracted to stay until 2027 is that he’s chasing down these kind of totals and you look at maybe Alan Shear’s alltime Premier League goalc scoring record and you know nearly 80 goals looks like a a tough target even for for Muhammad Salah. But then you look at things like Liverpool’s record scorer. That’s that’s again a tough target to meet by by Ian Rush. Premier League assists looks very beatable. Things like most goal involvements in a season. Certainly most assists, most combined goals, assists. He’s he’s closing in on Les. Yeah, he certainly is. Um he’s still got it, seven games to go and and and you know, he’s got a couple of goals to get and a couple assists and he he beats that 47 record. you see him doing it and you know if that’s his motivation then he’ll be looking at all those all those stats and seeing how close he could get to all of them and um you wouldn’t put him past him because as you said he’s a fitness freak he looks after himself and um he wants to he wants to go out as probably the all-time best um striker that’s ever worked to and and some of them stats are really like sheer on these people rush out strike because you still see Sal as maybe a wide player so to be up there he describes himself as a winger. Yeah. Yeah. So, the fact he’s up there competing with these players, I’ll tell you what a good player he is. And and the assistant and we we watch football every week and the hardest part of football is still scoring goals. And when these boys are doing it, that’s why they get the big money, the big headlines. And uh and they deserve it.

  1. Salah is lazy. watch the drop off now hes signed the big contract. will get less than 15 goals next season.

  2. I watched Owen, Torres, Suarez, Sterling, Coutinho all leave because there was something better out there.
To have Salah who is better then ALL of them basically ANNOUNCE through the media for months that he wants to stay is just so, so special.
He truly loves the club, and tbh he basically dragged Liverpool to the title post-Christmas.
    So much for that curse!

  3. Goals AND assists prove Salah is one of the greats. Shearer knocked the goals in and that was his only job. Salah provides goals as well. Absolutely priceless player.

  4. Salah is NOT a striker! He is the only WINGER in the top 20 of all time top scorers in the Premier League. <<< I posted this before Mr Keane pointed out the fact. Everyone should realise how unique Mo is.

  5. Why they showing shearer n coles stats 😂😂 they were playing more games back then. Not 38. They so desperate to keep salah away from them stats 😂😂 hes passed shearer n cole for a 38 game season already im sure of it

  6. I love honesty in the media. ❤ Roy Keane and Les Ferdinand and Thierry Anre brings that🎉. Thank You ❤for you stand out❤

  7. Salah is a sellout to his own people who are being slaughtered in Gaza as we speak but not a peep from him since the Genocide began. He happily posts about Hillsborough though so he is clearly ignoring Gaza for fear of the repercussions of speaking up.

  9. Sallahs not a striker, strikers belt it in in front of goal sallah finesses the ball in from any angle, hes a magician, and when he takes a free kick he hits it with so much power even if the keeper goes tje right way,he cant keep it out,one of liverpools best ever

  10. I think he is a man of standing and honour, not afraid to speak up for Arnold proves this
Glad someone did , it shows loyalty
I am not a Liverpool fan but do admire their team
Salah staying can only be a huge benefit to the club
