Hey guys, in today’s lesson video, I’m going to make a video for the everyday golfer who lacks distance. So, if you’re a senior golfer or just an everyday golfer who likes distance, please watch this driver lesson video to optimize your driver without adding much club SP. Because as you can see here on the data, I hit the golf ball over 300 yd. But if you could take a look at the club at speed, it’s only 108 mph. Just to give a little reference, if you want to hit the golf ball over 300 yards, you have to have club speed from around like 112 to 115 mph. But as you can see here, I only had 108 miles per hour club speed. But because I had the correct delivery into the golf ball, I was able to optimize and get the most out of my drivers. So in today’s lesson video, if we focus on our club path, our attack angle, and if we add a little bit of a release towards the end of the video, then I guarantee we’re going to have a better time launching the golf ball up in the air. We’re going to have a better time hitting the golf driver a far distance without trying to have crazy amount of speed from the start. But if you get this better golf swing, this better motion into your system, then I guarantee you club speed will also naturally come as well. So the first thing we have to focus on is our attack angle. So the attack angle. So for example, the attack angle is if I’m hitting up on the golf ball, I would have a plus on the attack angle. If I’m hitting down on the golf ball, I would hit a minus. But what we want to deal with the driver is, of course, we want to hit up on the golf ball. But for an everyday golfer especially, we have to optimize our attack angle and have a positive attack angle anywhere from around like 4 to 6° hitting up. The reason for that being is is that on the PJ tour, a lot of the golfers actually hit down on the golf ball with their driver, but their club head speed is like 115 mph or even above. So if you have high club head speed, it doesn’t matter if you have an attack angle that works up or down as much because it doesn’t affect the launch of the golf ball. But for an everyday golfer, club head speed and the loft at our impact on our club face determines if the golf ball is going to launch high or low. But with our driver, we don’t have much loft that impact. So what we want to do is we want to have higher club speed. But that’s also not the case for the everyday golfer. So we have to optimize hitting up on the golf ball. So how do we hit up on the golf ball? It’s not by physically trying to help the golf ball up in the air. What we want to do is we want to focus on our setup position and we want to focus on our trail shoulder, our right shoulder for a right-handed golfer. So from the face on golf swing, what you want to realize is is that if we’re very relaxed, since I grip the golf club with my right hand below my left hand naturally, if you can see from the face on golf swing, my right shoulder should be at tilted at at a slight angle and it should feel like my left shoulder is kind of higher than my right shoulder. Then from the face on golf swing. Now what we have to realize is that we want to get our right shoulder to be lower than our left shoulder from the face on golf swing. But from the side view it should feel like my right shoulder is kind of behind my left shoulder as you can see here. So if it’s very overexaggerated it should feel something like this. From the face on golf swing my right shoulder is tilted slightly under my left shoulder. And from the side view my right shoulder is kind of working behind my left shoulder. So, what this is going to allow me to do is that from this position, as soon as I hit the golf ball, I don’t have to help it up. But from this position, if I just hit the golf ball, I’m going to hit a golf shot that’s going to be hitting up on the golf ball, as you can see here, around 3 to 4° up, which is really good. And I also, if I get my right shoulder to work back behind, it’s going to help my club path come much more from the inside. So, what we want to do is my right shoulder has to be kind of tilted below my left shoulder and behind my left shoulder. It should almost feel like we’re trying to hit a nice little push draw. And when you get into that position, so once you get into that good setup position, what you want to realize is is now from this position, we want to rotate around our spine angle. So, once we get the golf club on our belly button, from this position, get your tilts correct. Then from this position to my takeaway position, everything should rotate together with my belly button. Then I’ll be rotating around my spine angle. So for example, from this position, if the club comes off of my belly button from the start, I’m just lifting up my arms. So once I get the correct tilt with my right shoulder, then from this position, belly button, everything’s going to rotate together to my takeaway position. Then from this position, all I have to do is fold my right arm towards my trail shoulder, and I’ll be at a really good top of the back swing position every single time. So, get the correct motion, get the correct tilt with your right shoulder, and we’re going to go body turn and then fold your right arm and and hit your wrist to the top of the back swing. And we’ll be in a much much better position, and we’ll get the golf club to be in a really good position depth wise, and my hand should be somewhere down my heel line. Once we get into this position, all we have to do is release the golf club a little bit towards 1:00, and we’ll be in a much much better position, and I guarantee you, we’re going to get hit the golf ball a lot farther. So the release part, all we have to do is grab the golf club with three fingers and three fingers is the fingertips. So with the three fingers, so my pinky finger and my ring finger is going to come off of the grip and we’re just going to grip the golf club with our fingertips. From this position, if I just swing the golf club with my fingertips back and forth, you’re going to feel the weight of the club and you’re going to feel a very natural release. If you just let the club go with the three fingertips, you’re going to feel a natural release and you’re going to feel the club actually make want wanting to make that left turn even without yourself forcing yourself to. So, what you want to do is get your correct tilts, go body, and then arms. Then from this position, release the golf club, make that left turn towards that 1:00 position off to first base. And I guarantee you that’s the first step in taking your driver to the next level. So, get that really good tilt. Go body and then arms. And then from this position, swing the golf club and release off towards that 1:00 position. And I guarantee you, we’ll be in a much much better position. 1. I am a senior and I found your channel by accident, it has been an amazing help for me everything from irons to Driver thank you Kevin, the average age tends to be between 45 and 55 years old so please mix in more senior video's amongst the others.

  2. Thank you Kevin. The three finger grip idea is very helpful. using that grip and takeaway, combined with your suggested 1st move down (butt back and a little left) seems to make the club swing on plane and square at impact without any manipulation with good velocity. Great lesson as always!
