Omni La Costa is hosting the NCAA mens and womens golf championships for a second year in a row. The North Course’s 16th hole is the final par-3.

CARLSBAD, Calif. — After 54 holes of stroke play, the field of 30 teams at the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa’s North Course is now 15 after Sunday evening’s cut.

Stanford has a historic third round, setting a record for lowest single-round score in NCAA Women’s Golf Championship history.

Maria Jose Marin, a sophomore at Arkansas, shot a bogey-free 7-under 65 to take the solo lead by one shot over Stanford’s Paula Martin Sampedro. Only two teams from the afternoon wave advanced to Monday after only one did in 2024.

Come Monday, the top eight teams after the final round of stroke play will make match play, which begins Tuesday morning.

Meet the 15 teams who made the first cut at Omni La Costa:

NCAA Women’s Golf Championship teams to make the cut1. Stanford, 23 under

As mentioned above, Stanford had a historic morning at Omni La Costa. No team in NCAA history has had a better round at the national championship than Stanford did. And more is on the line Monday.

2. Northwestern, 8 under

Not to be overshadowed by Stanford’s excellent round, Northwestern was brilliant Sunday morning, too. The Wildcats shot 8 under and are in an excellent spot to make match play.

3. Oregon, 2 under

A semifinalist in 2024, Oregon has played three days of solid golf, with a 3-under round on Sunday making the Ducks the third and final team to be under par after three rounds.

4. USC, even par

USC has gotten a little better every single day, and the Trojans matched Oregon with a 3-under round Sunday and sit at even par after 54 holes. One more solid day, and the 2023 runners-up will be back in match play.

T-5. Florida State, 3 over

Mirabel Ting (T-4) and Lottie Woad (T-13) are leading the way again for the Seminoles. Florida State has proven it can win in match play, taking the ACC title. Now it’s trying to do the same at Omni La Costa.

T-5. Arkansas, 3 over

The No. 2 team in the country finally righted the ship Sunday, shooting 8 under behind a stellar 7-under performance by individual leader Marin.

7. Texas, 5 over

The hosts, though not technically a “home” team, have recorded two rounds of even par on Friday and Sunday, and the Longhorns are in a good spot to make match play with a strong round Monday.

8. South Carolina, 8 over

A really impressive showing from South Carolina the last two days after a disastrous start. The Gamecocks need one more solid round to get into match play, then the SEC champions will look to win a title.

9. Arizona State, 11 over

The Sun Devils have consecutive rounds over par after an even-par opening day. Arizona State will need a strong Monday to sneak into match play.

T-10. Virginia, 12 over

Megan Propeck is 3 under and T-8 for the Cavaliers, which have improved a bit every day. If that trend continues, the Cavaliers could sneak into match play.

T-10. Tennessee, 12 over

Three players shoot under par for the Volunteers, which fired an even-par round to move three spots up the leaderboard and on the cusp of the top eight.

12. Oklahoma State, 14 over

After opening in 4 under Friday morning, Oklahoma State has fired consecutive rounds of 9 over. The Cowgirls will need to channel its Friday effort to make match play.

13. LSU, 16 over

What an afternoon for LSU, which came from the difficult way and played its way inside the cut line. The Tigers, which made match play last year, have work to do to make the quarterfinals.

T-14. Mississippi State, 18 over

It was a struggle for Mississippi State in the third round, falling nine spots down the leaderboard and shooting 14 over. The Bulldogs make the stroke-play cut, but they need a big Monday to make match play.

T-14. UCLA, 18 over

The defending national runners-up come from the afternoon wave and play their way into the final round of stroke play with a 5 over round. The Bruins improved by one shot each day.
