This golfer has a solid swing—but he’s been struggling with coming over the top in his downswing. In this live swing analysis, I Aimeefy three key areas to help him (and you!) fix it for good:
1. Downswing path
2. Keeping back to target longer!
3. Proper weight transfer

We’re really getting rid of any of this movement allows you to start shifting. Welcome to Right My Swing. We’re out at beautiful San Kyon Country Club. Today we have Juvon. He’s been playing golf for 4 years with a handicap of nine. Amazing, right? He’s right-handed. He practices daily and plays twice a week. No wonder he’s a good golfer. He’s played baseball before and I’m just kind of curious of his position and what level he’s played baseball up to. I will explain later why I’m asking this. So his concern is the out to in swing plane and the down swing. Let’s take a look at his golf swing. From down the line, it doesn’t look like the swing plane is far off, but you can definitely see the out to in slightly on the way down. From the face on, you can see that he does slide a little bit in the beginning. That’s going to affect his coil. When the coil is affected, you’re losing a lot of power. And then also on the way down, it looks like he’s doing a fantastic job. But if you look closely, his arms are leading the down swing instead of his body. So the body should be boom this way. And it get your club in the slot automatically if it’s body. But he’s going here and then this way, right? A lot of arms powering through the ball. No wonder the club is going slightly out to in. So if you’re not coiling great, if your body is not leading correctly, you’re losing a lot of power. And when this happens, compensations happen, especially if you have great athleticism, your body will take over and automatically try and create that loss power, especially by using a lot of arms. That’s when casting happens and also early extension happens just to try and add a little bit more warmth into it. So, it looks like that’s what’s going on. I asked about the baseball thing because if you’re a pitcher, you tend to post shift your weight and then rotate. So, it actually helps with the golf swing. A lot of pitchers hit it over 300 yards because of this movement. But if you’re a hitter batter, then a especially those baseball players in the United States, I noticed a lot of hip turn is in that swing, which kind of goes against fixing the out to in swing plane. I know there’s a lot going on. The slide and then the arm starting down over the top. We have to get Jan to coil better, use the body to lead and get that club dropping in the slot as opposed to over the top. There’s a lot going on, but of course, I’m going to aimify it by taking you through two simple steps. And this is going to really make everything easier for you. First step, you’re going to simply go ahead and take your seven iron, tea up the golf ball, and then pull your right foot back. You’ve seen this a lot. So, you loop. The only thing you have to pay attention here is that when you loop, a lot of people tend to loop with their hands. This is a big no no. You see how the arc gets too narrow and when you loop like this, you’re really not achieving anything except shanks. So here, when you take it back, the triangle and your torso should be working together to loop. Do you see this movement? That’s what I want. This helps emphasize to get that over the top on plane. And also, this actually keeps your back facing the target longer, which means we’re really getting rid of any of this movement, which allows you to start shifting better and more. With one drill, we’re really fixing the swing plane to shift and lead with the body. Three things in one. Once you do that a couple of times and you get comfortable with detouring that plane on the way down, let’s go ahead and move on to step two. Tada! My favorite thing. It’s the ball necklace. By squeezing the ball with both forearms this way, it really turns off the arms, prevents the arms from going this way or this way. So that means really forces your body to move your hands. So you’re squeezing and we’re adding the right foot back. You’re going to use a lot of body. I don’t care how you hit it. I’m like really forced to use a lot of my body. When you’re ready, let’s go ahead and hit some full swings. Really implement those two steps. We’re squeezing the ball, imaginary ball, and then we’re looping inside out. Let’s exaggerate. Wow, that was really solid. It was like back to the target longer and I shifted. We aimied by doing the two-step drill. Right foot back. That’s really going to promote that center turn in the back swing as well. And then the loop helped you to get the swing playing going correctly and also get your back facing the target longer, which means you can weight shift better and lead with the body better rather than hands. And then we added the ball necklace to squeeze the ball between your forearms. So you’re turning that switch off in your arms. You’re not using the arms at all, but really emphasizing that step one. Guys, if you want to participate in Rate My Swing, go ahead and use the link down below. Make sure to submit the form before you upload the swings. I love how you’re practicing daily and playing twice a week. No wonder you’re in the single digits. Five out of five. Swing plane in the down swing. I’ll give it three out of five. It’s really not that far off, but we’d like to fix it. So, it’s a three. Source of power. what creates that power. I’ll give you two out of five because it really should be body led, but right now you’re using a lot of your arms to create the power. So, there it is. I hope this really helps and thank you so much for participating. Thank you guys for golfing with us today and see you in the next one.
