Aaron Gordon’s injury puts Nuggets game seven dreams at risk. Will he play? Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon is facing uncertainty for game seven against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday due to a strained left hamstring according to a source familiar with the situation. The source speaking anonymously to the Associated Press revealed the injury’s severity hasn’t been officially disclosed yet. The injury occurred late in Denver’s crucial 119 to 107 game six victory which forced a winner takes all showdown in the Western Conference semifinals. The victor will advance to face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the conference finals. Losing Gordon would be a major setback for Denver, which operates with a tight rotation of bench players. If he is unable to play, Payton Watson or Russell Westbrook may be called upon to start. Gordon has been pivotal to the Nuggets playoff success, averaging a postseason career high 16.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, including key contributions in the first round series win over the Los Angeles Clippers. The 29-year-old forward, instrumental in Denver’s 2023 championship run, also dealt with injuries earlier this season, including a strained right calf and a sprained left ankle that limited him to 51 regular season games. Speaking after game six, Gordon mentioned that his hamstring felt okay, but admitted uncertainty about its condition. Just not entirely sure what happened, he shared. Just going to recover. See what I can do in game seven. Adding to Denver’s injury concerns, forward Michael Porter Jr. is nursing a sprained left shoulder, further complicating the team’s lineup. The decisive game seven is scheduled for Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
