Did you know that Manchester United winning the Europa League final would cost them over30 million pounds? Reuben Amarim’s Manchester United have an optimal chance to salvage an otherwise dismal campaign under their Portuguese head coach by winning the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur next week. But securing golden Bil Bao could cost them in excess of30 million. A new report has revealed for a while now it’s been Bil Bao or bust for the out of sorts red devils who at the time of writing are sat 16th in the Premier League table. Incredibly they are still above an Postiklu le Spurs who are one point behind their final opponents. Amarim, widely regarded as one of the best young managers in world football, and his side will have to be at their very best to defeat the injury-ridden North Londoners by virtue of the fact they’ve not beaten them since October 19th, 2022. Although it would relieve some stress heading into an all crucial summer for the club and the powers that be, including Sir Jim Ratcliffe, winning the showpiece on 21st May could be financially damaging for the 13-time Premier League champions. But why? Victory would also ensure passage back into Europe’s top table, the Champions League. But it will come at a price because salary hikes are set to total north of30 million in the form of new contract upgrades. A report from the Telegraph has revealed. As per the report, Amarim and his squad, should they win in the Basque country, will be on course for a 25% pay increase, while the players also stand to share a bonus pool of1 million, which is Β£2 million less than what would be offered to Tottenham. That means that Casemiro, who is one of the Premier League’s highest earning assets as it is, will be in line to earn a weekly wage of Β£500,000 per week, which is the same amount Cristiano Ronaldo pocketed in his second stint at the club should Manchester United return to Europe’s primary competition. The report also states that Amarim, who has his fair share of doubters following a tricky start to life in Stretford, is also set to line his pockets with a bonus if his men are able to beat Tottenham. That said, the size of the bonus is currently unknown. Recently, the exporting CP boss made a damning admission, admitting that his side would be better without Champions League football next season as he looks to rebuild his squad for the 2025/26 campaign. Per the mirror, he said, “That is my feeling. We need more time with the team. We need to arrange a lot of things at Carrington, the club’s training ground, and we need more time, not think game by game. Then we have the squad. We proved this year we need to be a better squad if we want to win European games and then be really competitive during the Premier League, he continued. Despite Manchester United remaining as the only unbeaten team in Europe this season. In other news, Ruben Amarim has said yes to Manchester United’s potential summer pursuit of Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton. Journalist Rudy Galleti has revealed the Portuguese manager is reportedly a huge admirer of the England international who has been on United’s radar as a potential midfield recruit for several months. United are expected to reinforce their options in the middle of the park this summer with Christian Erikson’s contract expiring next month and Casemiro attracting interest from Saudi Arabia. Few players will command as much attention as Le striker Jonathan David will this summer. The Canada international has established himself as one of the most clinical and consistent strikers in Europe’s top five leagues in recent seasons and he is set to become a free agent at the end of this campaign. The 25-year-old has confirmed he will be leaving the French club at the end of the campaign after five seasons with the four-time French champions. Speaking to French news outlet on Montial, David said, “Yes, I will be free at the end of the season. And as for my future, I hope to grow, to become a better player, and to play for the biggest clubs in the world if I can. But first of all, I just want to have fun. Never forget that football is fun. I started playing football because I had fun. And even though it has now become a job, you have to remember that I wake up every morning for football, for the pleasure of playing. Do you want any clues about my future? You will all know in due time. That is at the end of the season. I will not comment before then. David, who turned 25 last month, has scored 20 goals in 35 games for Le including 12 in 20 League One appearance. He has also chipped in with six goals in eight Champions League outings. Signed from Belgian club Gent in 2020, David has scored 104 goals in 218 games for Leil, including 72 since the start of the 2022 23 season, with the striker scoring 26 times in both the 2022/23 and 2023/24 campaigns. With such an impressive goalcoring record under his belt, it is no wonder a wealth of clubs, including Manchester United, have been linked with his signature. It is no secret by now that United desperately need to add to their attack this summer after another season of struggles in front of goal. The club decided not sign a striker in last month’s transfer window after making the decision to prioritize summer spending instead. This summer’s window promises to be one of the biggest United have faced in their history. With countless changes needing to be made, the squad needs adapting to fit head coach Ruben Amarim’s principles, meaning countless incomings and outgoings are required. As the financial results released on Wednesday confirmed, United are in no position to start spending money on players without so much as a care in the world. They are going to have to box clever, be shrewd, and try and navigate the market in the best way they possibly can. Signing a world-class striker, however, will almost certainly force United to dive deep into their budget with goal scorers the most valuable assets in football. However, David will be available for free this summer, meaning United will be able to sign him without the need for a transfer fee. Of course, the elephant in the room is that the Canadian is going to be the subject of interest from a wealth of clubs. Barcelona have been heavily linked with his signature. Likewise, Liverpool and Newcastle United. Despite United’s history, they are languishing behind those clubs right now, both on and off the field. It means they are unlikely to be at the front of the queue for David’s signature. United do not currently have the guarantee of offering any prospective signings European football next season amid the fact they are currently sitting 15th in the Premier League table. Bournemouth’s Antoine Semeno has held talks with Manchester United over a summer move to Old Trafford. Talk Sport understands it comes 7 years after they first eyed a move for the 25year-old winger. Semeno has shone this season with 11 goals and seven assists with his form helping the Cherries already break a club record for their highest ever points tally in the top flight. With Amarim looking to strengthen in all areas of the pitch this summer, United have already held talks with the Englishborn Ghana international but they have stiff competition for his signature with Semeno on Newcastle’s radar. While Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is also a fan. Given his success and the caliber of clubs interested, it is believed Bournemouth value the forward at around 70 million. The Red Devils previously considered a move for Semeno all the way back in December 2018. Then aged 18, the Widman had been on loan in League 2 with Newport County from Bristol City. United Scouts even went to watch the teenager in action in the fourth tier. Robin’s head of loans at the time, Brian Tinion, told the Express, “I was sat with a Man United scout at Newport the other week to be honest and they really like him. People will like him because he’s 18 years of age.” However, a move to Old Trafford never materialized for Semeno even with the transfer window opening a month later. He instead returned to Ashton Gate after half a season in South Wales. During his time at Newport, Semeno scored six goals in 32 appearances for the club. The forward later had another spell out on loan at Sunderland before breaking into the city first team. Bournemouth later swooped for him though, completing an 8.5 million pound deal in January 2023. Semeno would go on to be part of the Cher’s side which secured Premier League safety on their top flight return. He could now help the club qualify for Europe for the first time in their history. With two matches remaining, Andoni Eriola’s side sit 10th in the table, two points and two places below Brenford. An eighth place finish will earn a Conference League birth if Manchester City win Saturday’s FA Cup final. Elsewhere, Liam Dilap is leaning towards joining Manchester United. Talk Sport understands. United and Chelsea are the two leading Premier League candidates to trigger Dilap’s 30 million pound IPS release clause. Former Manchester City youngster Dellap, who has scored 12 Premier League goals this season, is said to be keen to return to the Northwest. United’s pursuit of the England under21 ace will be further boosted if they beat Tottenham in next week’s Europa League final and qualify for the Champions League. The Red Devils face Spurs in Bil Bao on May 21st in their final opportunity to secure European qualification for next season. Dilap previously spent 5 years with City before his move to Portman Road last summer. Despite the Tractor Boy’s relegation this term, the forward has stood out with his performances for Kieran McKenna’s side. As well as his 12 league goals, Dilap has also chipped in with two assists for his teammates. Meanwhile, United’s senior strikers Raasmus Hodgland and Joshua Xerxy have just seven league goals between them this term. Ruben Amore has also been linked with a move for Wolves forward Maas Connor in the summer. Troy Deany previously urged Dilap to make the switch to Old Trafford to boost his three lions chances. The talk sport co-host explained last month he has to play to get into England’s squad, right? So his next step would be if I was advising him would be that with Manchester United it’s nailed on. If he went to Manchester United he’d start every week. He’d instantly make them better. The 22-year-old has yet to be included in a senior England squad despite his form this season. He has already scored three goals in 12 caps for the under21s, though since making his debut in September 2023. Dilap is expected to star for Lee Ksley’s Young Lions once again this summer. The defending European champions will appear at the tournament in Slovakia next month. Ksley’s side faced the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Germany in group B. Dilap was not part of the squad which won the 2023 edition two years ago. Manchester United have also made the winger a priority over Brenford’s Brian and Bumo who they had been linked to. Ruben Morim will be keen to bring in players who suit his 343 formation in the summer transfer window. something that the United boss hasn’t had this season since taking over from Eric Tenhag. Brenford’s Brian and Bumo has previously been linked with a move to Old Trafford after a superb season for the Bees. The Cameroon international has scored 18 goals in 36 Premier League games, helping Brenford to what could be their best finish in the club’s history. Arsenal have also been linked to the attacker who will enter the final year of his contract at Brenford, meaning that the bees could cash in on him this summer to avoid the possibility of him leaving on a free transfer next summer. Embomo is expected to cost around60 million and he does have a one-year option in his contract should the bees decide to keep him. United have also been linked to Barcelona’s Rafinha as a potential attacking target. However, he would likely prefer to go to a side currently competing for league titles if Barcelona were forced to sell him due to their precarious financial position. As the season draws to a close and the final result is twice as important, Ruben Amarim’s team has been plagued by injuries throughout the season which has been extremely detrimental. Luke Shaw has just returned from injury. Lisandro Martinez is still out and now United’s limited squad depth is being put to the test once more. The team had already had a bad day and the Dutch striker’s early departure only made things more frustrating. The attacker is expected to miss the remainder of the season according to Sammy Mockbell of BBC Sport. The unfortunate news was confirmed by Amarim who said, “Josh, I think he will be out for some games. The timing of Xerxes injury couldn’t have been worse for United who now lack one of their best players going into a crucial European final matchup with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur. However, Center Devils can exclusively reveal that Joshua Xerxy is doing light inensity training on grass. A return before the end of the season is deemed unlikely, but sources say the Dutch man is working super hard in order to make a return. [Music] [Music]
