Brendan I’m doing all right you know I uh I was really down yesterday Real down down and out my team got got eliminated from the tgl playoffs and uh you know watching watching jup stinks go out there and embarrass themselves another time made me feel a little bit better today your team was embarrassing downright embarrassing tonight I mean it’s just completely competitive aside from that little nip and Tuck match with the frogs where they wanted over completely uncompetitive it’s a total tear down complete rebuild you know I I Kevin kizner tweeted about how much fun he had he’s a oneand done no way he’s done he’s done it’s just a tear down we were so bad I mean Tiger Tiger I I feel bad for Tiger um you know he’s taking timeouts you know just just hither and ywn he’s got Kim just trying to be thirsty throwing Flags when you know throwing hammers with like worst possible Reckless use of the hammer Tom Kim’s just throwing it after Nick Dunlap essentially almost missed the screen he hit it so far off the planet of course they don’t accept it they’ve only got three hammers to use why is he throwing it there it’s just it’s a mess it’s a complete tear down the frogs on the other hand I mean I guess you run it back Roy says he had fun and wants to play with these guys again again feels like you’re could be committ stuck in the middle of nowhere yeah can’t run back stuck you don’t want to get stuck in the middle you can’t win zero matches and run it back I’m sorry there needs to be some complimentary pieces on the team I this is what we need a guy we need a guy willing to take a charge a guy willing to lay down a bunt you know get hit by a pitch we need we need the guy the fourth Winger in hockey that comes off or the fourth line Winger that comes out and just ready to drop the gloves ready to fight we need some gel guys we need some glue guys we got we got to get out of we got too many bad Putters we’ve got we’ve got four four extremely similar players just doesn’t work Keegan’s gotta go yeah but he’s the only one with the real connection to Boston it kind of doesn’t make sense that’s fine we can put him out put him out on waivers nobody’s picking him up so jup links lost 12 to one to La then they beat the ball frauds in overtime then they lost 10 to three so 121 103 they lost 63 to Bay which was never even close just got some garbage time points in that one and then lost 91 tonight to ATL so 91 103 and a 121 in there in their matches just a this non-competitive doormat a doormat now at least we got that OT dub over the frauds so we got jup stinks and ball fronts I had one conspiracy theorist suggest to me today that just to show that the league is not rigged it’s not fixed they had the two like I don’t know what you’d call them two PR primary owners I don’t know if they’re majority owners but Tiger and Rory have more Stak front men yes um had them take take a dive in the first season just to show this is real competition it’s Equitable nothing’s fixed this isn’t WWE and they so they had the two stars just take a dive get completely uh you know essentially whitewashed out of the playoffs uh it’s clear you know I mean screen golf who knows really who’s good who’s bad but we do know who are the two worst and they clearly separated themselves in a major way can’t say we don’t know about that we don’t the power rankings haven’t come out yet to be on your edge of your seat till the power dat driven the data driven Power Rankings correct I got I have a question along these lines yeah um and it really I think this is the question of of the whole league okay um do you feel like great shots feel like great shots in the simulator not really I mean there’s some that are like like uh lawn shots on par fives that feel like all right that was a pretty sweet shot couple on these par 3es where they stick them like last night with Keegan and uh was a Ricky but you kind of don’t know right there’s really no sense of what’s a great shot I think that’s the issue although chips chips we got a little bit of that right so I was going to say I think the shots that I’ve been most impressed with have been the chips yeah and they’re like actual golf shots so I don’t know do you think they need a bigger screen if five dinosaurs could fit in the screen do you think it would be more realistic or is this just the biggest hurdle that like actually te to Green is the least interesting part of the whole game uh would the product be better if they just chipped around a green potentially I I think we just still need to get used to it maybe but yeah I I um I mean I guess that’s the difference between real Golf and Screen golf right I mean think you’re not gonna fix that this is the philosophical question that I I was batting around today in my head is that like when they hit these shots like I’m just kind of like oh it went into the screen and they just flying towards the hole and then it just stops right and it stops close but I don’t feel the way I feel when I watch a great shot in a tournament and I think that’s that’s like maybe maybe the biggest issue these uh these last two haven’t been good not not great I would say um be on tonight W what’s the connection she seems to be golf Tig oh really yeah on Jupiter Island yeah she’s been a long time Tiger neighbor oh okay so she’s a lynx fan so she went and watched them just get massacred right in front of her this kid totally body bag God bless her for putting up with Marty not once but twice when Marty came back I was like oh no I was like this and I thought I thought she she handled it so well with the song the song was legit good we started uh week one on this and whatever was January 6th or something January whatever seventh eth whatever it was um and I didn’t think we’d come around to a point in the season where I wish DJ khed was back but when Roger Clemens was singing Toby Keith I was ready for I wanted DJ khed back I wanted that off my screen I would have done anything to get colid back at that point what was that I don’t believe that I you cannot you cannot in good faith say that you want khed back you remember do you remember what he did to the park yes he desecrated that the match essentially um I don’t know I mean in a way and I I look I think that yeah the screen golf is it’s going to be screen Golf and the chipping is the real Golf and that’s why one seems to have some more of evoke something out of you than the other thing now can we get to a point two years from now where the screenshots start to have a little bit more resonance maybe I’m kind of like it kind of makes the holes like less less um less effective like that the holes just don’t seem to matter with to me like there’s no real resonance with the holes because of what you’re talking about there on the every single one of them needs to be thrown in the garbage um yeah and there was a part of me tonight that just felt like you know tiger I I know this is his thing but you know the playoffs were settled it’s a meaningless screen golf match on a Tuesday of Bay Hill week he’s in this like Sunday red he’s not Nike you got Tom Sim there in Nike it just felt like I don’t know a little almost not not sad is the word but like what are we doing here a little bit like why does he want to be doing this on when he doesn’t even now they’re all goofing around you got Tom Sim doing the premature celebration and he’s thirsty carrying the bag around you know they they’re the gig they won the they won the uh the The Strokes gain Giggles J blanks did I mean they’re real they’re they’re yucking it up nonstop but um I don’t know part of it just felt a little he was just tiger was kind of like he was really slow to play he’s like how far do I have to hit it how what’s to carry what’s to lay up wait no call timeout one time homo was like dude you gotta go he’s like standing over the bag like we gotta go and uh yeah it just you know I think they’ve made real inroads and that like the hammer is a thing it means something it’s a term it’s a u it’s it’s I don’t know phenomenon is too strong the word but the hammer has its own little I don’t know cult following significance in the sport um but I think we’re you know we’re about ready for it to go away for a little bit right you know we’ve done a lot of tgl and it’s it’s done its part and uh yeah we’ll do the playoff let’s let’s get to the real golf for a while we’ll bring Power Rankings back to the end we’ve got a jam-packed episode we need to talk about about Arnold Palmer we need to talk about Big J we got to talk about spitball and and most importantly we have an electric inout alternate an electric I I thought inout alternate might have been dead at the end of last year I was like I don’t know if this can go on I faith has been restored in the PGA Tour and uh and shitty opposite Fields opposite event additional event I believe is what it’s called let’s go to our uh let’s go to our schedule for the week then I I I need to talk to you about the the burgeoning you know New York Boston rivalry with New York trying to bodybag Rory with tweets we’ll get it we’ll get it we’ll get it get toer talking [ __ ] all right schedule for the week what happens when two stored franchises come but I just want to remind New York fans Boston Common we’ve never missed the playoffs two years in a row that’s true so that’s true bet your ass will be back at back next year I think J they just need an overhaul who knows we’ll see I think J I think jup should honestly I think they should move small you can’t you can’t succeed in a small market like Jupiter they have no media essentially to hold their feet to the fire you’re not gonna have a columnist who was the old Palm Beach Post golf J marotti is not coming right in columns about G blanks down over the Palm Beach post or Bob Bob Ryan it’s not happening so they can just kind of Coast under the radar um this week schedule for the week we have the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard is the full title March 6 through 9th at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club and Lodge uh the purse is $20 million4 million to the winner just astronomical purse defending Champion is Scotty sheffler notables are ludvig oberg Patrick Klay did not show up today for the uh Drive match wam Clark did you see did you hear Matt Barry drive by Patrick kly no what did he I didn’t hear it what’ he say you know how they Billy facetimed JT oh he did while he’s going to commercial he was like well we know that if they if he tried to FaceTime Patrick he wouldn’t have answered that’s pretty funny pretty funny no he was like there’s no way he would have answered did you lose me yeah I did lose you trouble wires are struggling here wires are all right we’re back Arnold Palmer so Matt Barry I I could get down with that a little pop little pop there from Matt Barry uh all right so $20 million notables are can’t Le Windam Clark Jason day Victor havin Hideki Rory Xander Scotty sheffler and JT um I think the best field of the year so far Xander back absolutely he missed the last couple um I you know beill stinks as like a like Golf Course like we would want to play I’ve played it um a couple times I think you got some free shoes I got plenty of stuff I got free shoes my initials on them kind of extremely douchy um it’s it’s not something we’d want to play I’ll tell you though like I mean the winners last whatever Sheffer twice Bryson TL Hatton Rory you had the kitty cat snuck in there Frankie Molinari when he was you know Frankie doing his thing it’s like it’s a it’s a real Pro Golf test I don’t know what I I I I know the part 3es are all the same length as you are are prone to to uh used about yeah but like you do have to hit a lot of I think you’ve said this you do have to hit some mid irons right it’s lawn you’re the greens they let get firm right it can get to that Bermuda that almost is like super racy super slick um the rough is the rough like it’s a real penalty right like there’s a there’s a reward for hitting it in the Fairway there’s a penalty for hitting it in the rough and then there’s a further penalty for you know hitting it off the planet there’s sometimes it’ll be from houses and there’s water hazards I I think it’s become kind of like a a a really great professional golf test like it the the best players often play like separate here and you’ve got a winning score that has you know often around like 10 under is Right sometimes even lower and I think my one concern would be you know we get farther and farther away from the loss of Arnold Palmer who’s not around and his sort of the impr primator and his his uh you know presence being able to Alpha the tour and TJ tour setup does the tour start to further put his thumb on the scale I know when it got really hard there were like some comments like we can’t have this the week before the players championship guys are going to go limping into the our gold standard but I kind of I kind to come to love it as as a proper uh PGA Tour test and and I don’t know personally I’ve enjoyed going to it a few times and it’s a great field I think that the most important thing for the PGA Tour to have throughout its schedule is is variety and is Bay Hill my favorite test on tour no but is it unique yes it’s very unique especially in the realm of the way the schedule works right now it is so quantifiably different than the west coast different grasses different type of setup um and it’s also just a unique test in the sense that we don’t get to see guys hit mid irons to Long irons very much um in the world of golf we get to see him at the majors and I think the reason that that like you Illustrated the best players it’s like one of the rare places on tour where guys have to hit mid and long irons and the best players in the world are the best at hitting mid and long irons and it’s just not driver wedge um now there are driver wedge holes out there but the par 3s are all extremely long and then the par fives all present opportunities to get those long irons in your hands again so you’re conceivably GNA see guys hit six iron plus seven iron Plus on seven or eight holes out there which for the PG tour is extraordinarily rare like ex extremely rare and if you hit those if you hit those irons well you’re going to play well out here so I think that’s the neat thing I think like you know is it like a perfect comp for Augusta National No but Augusta National is long it makes you hit long irons a lot and I think that’s why you see those great iron players play well here um just in general and what I like about it I don’t like I don’t like beill I do not like I’m not a fan of the way it’s presented the way but what I love about it is it’s Unique it has an identity and I think that’s really good for the PGA Tour it’s kind of like I always use this example but it’s a distinct track if you use a racing track and we get to see certain styles of players play well at different tracks and this is this is this is a distinct one and and it is like a rare place where they’ve let it really get firm or it’s just by natural occurrence B firm on if you know it’s supposed to be bad on Wednesday it looks like with the big some thunderstorms but allegedly very very firm today right now yeah I I wind was whipping today it’s supposed to whip on Thursday not you know it’s supposed to blow on Thursday maybe a little bit on Sunday you know it’s it’s weird you can kind of get some of these some of these in recent years have been like freezing or it’s like crazy windy I don’t know it’s just it’s had a nice little identity here um I don’t know that it’s great it’s that it’s jammed up against the PLAYERS Championship but uh I’ve enjoyed it I think it’s I think it’s a good event and now you know it’s a smaller deal it’s 72 72 folks um and $20 million but but hey I don’t know does that say something more about Pro Golf as opposed to like that you know this is a course that would stink but it’s become one of the real great ones at uh identifying or or or testing professionals does that say more about where Pro Golf is than anything that that you need a Bay Hill or a a maybe a Tory South mirfield those those kind of places I I think so I think it does a better job than Tory South because there is water um yeah I think when like Tory South you can just hit away from any trouble and beine like the way these guys hit it out of the rough and everything B Hill like I I think water it does say you know the quad the places that you are dying to play rarely have a ton of water like are mostly if you look at like the best golf course in the world it’s hard to lose a lot of golf balls at them like I think that’s like a kind of like a general like very basic theme of of the best golf course in the world um Bay Hill you could lose a lot of golf balls and I think for pro golf that’s a really good thing because like water is a is a is like a very very um scary like it scares Pros into getting into trouble right it scares them away from it more so than rough or bunkers there is uh you know 15th tall so bad it’s good one of my favorites over the hedges literally like basically if it’s firm there’s nowhere to land it you’re either going out of bounds right or you’re just hitting into the rough and then like you’re hitting these longer irons not necessarily there to firm greens it’s just it can be kind of an amusing circus or or House of Horrors anyways but I when you’re talking about the uh the best uh holes out there I mean like this tournament delivered with Bryson Bryson and Westy duking it out right Bryson H it over the water on six I mean that was incredible yes do you think everybody’s G to try this year I’m trying to think who’s in the field unfortunately Chef minwoo probably Dr chinsky is not in it jammed a couple chapinski into the broadcast tonight he not even playing Tom Sim chapinski did you see last week Lowry chip did and he found Dr chapinski I did I sure did see that brenley reports on the big course change Brentley Ro Min a Golf Channel 17 they took out the uh sort of gradual Beach bunker it’s looked like a nightmare to maintain just just runs into the water just sinks into the water and now it’s just a hard Bank uh not shaved down but but fluffy fluffy rough still a hard Bank though that can kind of I guess if you’re short you’re going into the water but I don’t know it was kind of a it’s kind of a tricky bunker shot sometimes if was if the pin was back you know and you kind of had to get it up and on um but yeah that that’s the big change this year no more more Beach bunker at 17 it’s like that can be kind of a kind of a a menacing part three at the 71st hole second to last hole there so that’s your big change to beill um yeah I I mean that 17th might play a lot harder now seems like seems like the threat of the ball really going in the water is is yeah more significant I looked at that I was like that that looks hard it looks a lot more difficult than I mean and that’s I think that’s just the changes there one and done one and done we’re hot we Hammer Hammer Time PJ PJ get in here fire hammerlock fire tout PJ PJ has been grinding on the Puerto Rico I I have more Puerto Rico takes than I do API oh which is probably is a disaster for me I mean API is a v of the year so far I I know but they’re all good whereas Puerto Rico they’re you get fun with who you’re bet you can you can uh who’s our locks who do you got PJ one and done picks you’re hot taking lvic don’t overthink it just right down the middle here big big dog machine man okay that’s it all right I I I hate to be uh boring here are you doing this is where he jumps and excels only 72 71 guys he’s got to beat versus you know 100 at the Masters or he only has to beat 70 players at the Masters too let’s be serious that’s fair that’s fair but out there uh there there’s some trouble you can get into just completely chopping out of the greenside rough just absolutely hacking through it uh did you see they put the laava Father and Son together the uh High Smith is with Klay so that’s good we’re gonna get that love I did see that I love tea times that are dictated by the Cades you love that Andy I know that’s your jam I saw that I mean it’s incredible I need more is there any way we could get laava laava Junior in in for to get to get the a three caddy group of laas the middle the middle like the third laava I think I think that’s all of them I think that’s the father and Son uh one guy you would not be you know want know how fall you know I’m I hate to bring this to attention I was just looking at the LA last year’s um uh his Ridder cup candidacy I don’t think so but if you want to go with that go ahead sleep city right there not a yeah feels like he’s gonna get big time I I don’t know doesn’t feel like he can get Hughes and the Shep Pinsky minw Le and Justin Rose uh campus more details came out look he he’s a Puerto Rico like a national hero he’s like I means a lot to me to grow the game but also I would do this to miss my home open uh because like look Mr Palmer was about you know being popular and growing the game at the masses and this what I can show to my home country this would mean a lot got emotional he wrote the letter and that’s why he’s in so we got further explication on that uh he’s not playing well uh Jordan Speed then had some quotes with a little bite little hot sauce on the top of them about his um about his I guess you want to call it a snub I don’t know he said in regards to API it’s been a great great place for me and I really wish I was getting that start but I needed to play better injured golf last year I guess look I mean he could go play the pr open this is the thing he could get into the Aon five I don’t think Campos is necessarily a good meritocratic exemption either what because he’s like what grow the game in Puerto Rico maybe like I think that’s a good idea I’m fully behind all that but that’s not a fully meritocratic reason in the same way that Jordan Speed shouldn’t necessarily like just get one for being Jordan Speed and I mean not she hasn’t done anything for four [Laughter] years yeah it’s not just the last year here’s the thing if Jordan spe had been had played better three years ago he still would have gotten it that seemed like a yeah a real punch back at the Sam Saunders interview needed to play better injured golf I guess you know how far we’ve Fallen I don’t want to say it was better in the good old days I don’t want to be like that guy but you know what was notable about this place Bay Hill this was where about I don’t know I want to say seven eight years ago Patrick Reed was caught on camera saying well I guess my name just needs to be Jordan spe guys because he gets all the treatment and here we are spe’s getting Heisman out of the field n n n we don’t need you they can’t even get in Patrick Reed’s basically not even a non- not even an entity in golf anymore and that’s how far we done fell you know speed can’t even get in the field he was Bor like you know not that long ago a paragon of Golden Child treatment and now he can’t even get an invite over Rafa Campos so that’s how far we fell and ra and you know Tigers playing screen golf for for consolation matches that’s where we’re at so yeah that was little bit exemption gate continued I was talking with Joseph lman a little bit about this today on fried egg pod but five years five years is a really long time in golf yeah like lots happened yes yes yep um a little bit else on uh on API you no MasterCard new sponsor integr AP hey can we do away I I know capslock is a real big thing that PJ tour Global home they’re they’re Advocates of using the capitalized button at all times but we’re now making arie’s place a proper noun it’s capitalized arie’s capital P Place same with Jack’s Place I no I’m not doing it call it Bay Hill call it Arnold Palmer’s Invitational but we don’t need to come up with pronoun a proper noun arie’s place in the same way that now fan forward is just a capitalized word it’s a pro it’s a proper noun I mean there was a lot of fan forward research I mean wait I got the Press players love the fan forward research and Mr spitball and is just well they’re using fan forward as a crutch for everything well fan forward tells us we got to do this we got to do that I don’t know I’ve done market research as a as a garbage job after college I that that survey company better have their [ __ ] together because it’s everything we’re hearing is fan forward is basically dictating the entire future of the PGA Tour I mean now they’re just using it without any is not as an adjective or anything through fan forward capitalize our fans are providing a road map for Innovation it better be a that that that that survey better have been locked down that sample size the cross tabs I’ve seen surveys and market research just lead a lot of companies you can paint any picture you want with some of this stuff I love that I love that a survey a survey is going to lead the Innovation from the PGA Tour a survey of random people is going to lead to Innovation what what are we yeah all the great ideas all the innovative ideas in the world come from surveys to the general public fan forward research has been our North Star the next 3 to 5 years will dictate the next 50 years of pro golf oh my God these are quotes these are quotes by the way capitalize fan forward is like going to be known as you know the the the you know whatever Truman Doctrine or something it’s it’s it’s a capitalized proper noun now fan forward he did say multiple times that the players love love fan for well it it just dissolves them of any responsibility or that thinking needing to think at all well fan forward tells us this we got to do that it’s just it just absolves them from everything well anyways fan forward Mr spitball and he’s doing the rounds Jay’s doing J’s doing interviews this morning uh says you know Deal’s not imminent after you know someone clearly from the tour side going to the White House says you know what we’re doing the tush push and we’re going in the end zone today dealing principal oh here we are a week later deal is not imminent we’re just you know everybody can’t be happy I heard that the the meeting was might have been pretty uncomfortable at the end are we talking like zalinsky and Trump in the whole office uncomfortable maybe that might be how all meetings go on are there I mean okay so yeah I mean that’s just what a change in tone you got tiger saying close close like soon very soon the reporter’s deal in principal might be announced today and now it’s like ah no deals imminent which is just basically the same cycle of [ __ ] we’ve been on for three years anyways fan forward they’re doing the rounds Jay’s doing his talk you know they’re talking about TOUR Championship we’d like to get a new format but who knows they’re run they’re running up against the timeline for that but the big one is Mastercard this is from Josh Carpenter was also a big press release we got today with a lot of capital letters MasterCard is adjusting its broadcast sponsor integration around the AR pmer Invitational this week as PJ tour continues efforts to enhance its product move of traditional broadcast inventory MasterCard which is a presenting sponsor will sponsor segments during live play tell around player caddy interactions it’s not clear how many times this will happen multiple activations are expected uh There Will Be Few commercials throughout the tournament uh with something fans of La clamored for we’re we’re trying to provide as much uh meaningful and insightful content as possible we want deeper interaction so instead of commercials are doing I I guess the broadcast has been ordered to lay out and just listen to player caddy interactions and maybe that’s like brought to you by MasterCard with some advertising around it it’s where it seems to be going what what player caddy I I guarantee we get a lot of laava action the two of maybe the two of them together on a part three yeah what what other uh uh caddy interaction do you most want to see especially I mean
