Old Waverly Golf Club Director of Golf Nic Ishee is competing at the 107th PGA Championship.
And earlier today, the 107th PGA Championship got underway in Charlotte, North Carolina. This invit invites some of the best golfers from around the world, including right here in North Mississippi. Nick Ishi, who is the director of golf at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, is making his second appearance at the PGA Championship. He’s been on the director job at Old Waverly for about 2 months now. and Ishi is a native of Laurel, Mississippi. And he golfed at Mississippi Golf Coast Community College and William and Carrie before going pro. Now he has to split his time between running a golf club and being a professional golfer. And he tells me it is a lot to try and manage. It’s tough. You know, you got to find times to get out there and keep everything sharp, but at the same time, you got to make sure you’re in front of the members and and the guest and you’re, you know, you’re taking care of them and or your clients or however you want to say it. If you’re a teacher, you know, you got to wear a lot of different hats. For sure.
