MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) – Memorial Health System gathered 25 teams to compete in their 26th annual golf outing.
Jarrett Stull, the executive director for the Memorial Health Foundation, said the funds from the outing will be going back towards the health system.
“The funds are used internally each year to help benefit our patients,” Stull said. “Our departments get to submit a grant opportunity to us in terms of how to use these funds. The 120 golfers out here are all helping patients and enhancing healthcare locally.”
Steve Keiser, the board chair for Memorial Health System, added it’s a great way to raise money.
“It is the primary fundraising entity that we have for the health system,” Kieser said. “They do a great job of putting this tournament together. They’re an excellent unit, part of the part of the hospital for raising funds. I’m here to play golf with my son and a couple of other guys. They brought out a lot of golfers from Memorial and a lot of people that are not from Memorial, but they’re part of the part of the community.”
According to Stull, the outing before golfers tee-off for the event already made around $50,000.
Stull said these funds will be used for many different things across the health system.
“It goes from everything from cancer care to helping with transportation costs,” Stull added. ” We know that’s a big barrier because a lot of our patients aren’t able to make it to their appointments. We help with transportation, medications in different treatments and with co-pays.”
