Pitch Shot Setup – Golf lesson and golf tips on how to set up for pitching shots in golf.
► Pitching Setup Tips – Video Golf Lesson Summary
Pitching involves a slightly longer swing than in chipping, but a smaller one than for full shots.
The setup in pitching is essentially the same as in chipping but it does allow for a little more power.
Reduce the distance between your two feet from the normal full distance shot setup so that your feet are just closer than shoulder distance from one another.
Choke down on the grip of the club in order to reduce the power generated and use the grip as a power sliding scale. The further you choke down, the less power is generated.
Limit the amplitude of your swing again in order to control the distance of your shots. The smaller the swing, the less power is generated.
Finally, position most of your weight – 70% – on the left side during the setup.
