So, here we are. Second major championship of the year already. Goes quick, I know, now they’ve changed the schedule around, but Quail Hollow USPJ Championships. Little bit of a rundown on uh who the predictions are, what the course is like, just a brief overview, and who we think is going to do well this [Music] week. So, Quail Hollow, it’s a regular on the PGA tour over the years. So, it’s a course that we know there’s history and backup of what players do well there and why. And unsurprisingly into this week, you Rory Maroy is a hot favorite. It’s a course that he’s won four times on. Um, you it suits even Jordan Sparoy said to him this week or last week said to him, I think you you have a good chance to get the all grand slam this week and and Splied by saying what at Rory Maroy Country Club. So the players know it suits a certain style of player and uh you we’re Tuesday today. It it hooned it down yesterday. A storm came through Monday. There are some pictures of Hideki Matsiama on the putting green with his candy with an umbrella over him and literally it is white with rain and hail and whatever it was that came down. So there’s been a lot of rain. It’s softened the course up. They do have a subair system in the greens. So they can control the moisture levels and the speed and the firmness of the greens to an extent. and but the rest of the course is going to be wet and soggy and so it’s playing it’s long anyway. It’s a 7,650 odd yard course. Take out the run, it’s playing even longer. It’s playing more 7879. So through the air yardage is so important round here. Uh and you know what does that point to? Points to the high ball hitters, the long ball hitters who we’re looking at Maroy Sheffller, the Shambo. Um yeah, historically you might have said someone like John Ram, but he’s not really been playing that well of late or not as noticeably well, but it points to that style of player. And just to kind of back that up, got a little list here of players that have won here over the last 15 years. And if I show you the screen here, what we see, we see Maroy, Maroy, Maroy, Maroy. You Max Homer twice, Jason Day, another long highball hitter. Windham Clark, another long hitter. JB Holmes, another long hitter. Ricky Fowler, another kind of longish hitter, high ball hitter. So, there’s very much a style of player that does well here. It’s it’s not, you know, there’s one year Brian Harmon won. So, that’s the kind of the outlier. Um, but the rest of it is all players who’ve got good length, hit a high ball, and a great ball strikers. So, we have a player style that clearly this course suits. Uh, and unsurprisingly you say at the forefront of that list is Rory Maroy. So, you Why is that? Well, it it say it’s long. Uh, you know, if you look at the this is a view of the 15th hole behind us. There’s a bit of water on there. It’s quite treelined, but it’s the kind of course of being a big course. You know, that that high ball playing into the greens. It normally being a North Carolina doesn’t play that firm and fast. So, again, that distance, that carry distance, being able to carry bunkers on the corner. Now, there isn’t one on this hole, but you know, um, in another video, we’re going to go through that last three holes and go over those those what’s required on them. you know, bunkers on the corner, pines on the corner of dog legs. If you can fly them, if you can get the ball up and carry it a long way, that really pays dividends on this course. Quite similar to Augusta in that respect. You’ve got a course where a long high golf ball hitter is the one that you can gain off the tea because you can take lines that other players can’t. So, that really helps and that’s why the big hitters overall really have a sway. So, as I say, with the amount of rain that’s come down, we’re looking at, you know, potential mud balls, but ultimately, you know, with the the way they’ve moved the TE’s back, there’s a lot of length to to carry to. Someone can send it out there long and accurate off the tea. Um, but then you’re playing less club into greens. So, they’re going to tuck the pins away with it being soft. Uh, we know that because that’s going to make it a little bit more of a challenge. So, if you’re playing a seven iron in rather than a five iron, you can access those corners of the greens that much easier. So that is why that long ball off the tea has even more of an importance with the rain coming down this week than it would normally. So you we got that into play. Uh yes, they’ll suck some of the moisture out the greens, but again that that means going in with less club is even more important. Uh and and ultimately length of course. So for all those reasons, you’ve got macro on form, Sheffler on form, Larry’s on form. Um you Bryson’s been playing well, you chauffeer, Xander Schaefer has been playing well as well. He’s so trending. Justin Thomas who won the previous USPJ round here in 2017. He’s trending and playing well and just won again recently. So all these players whose styles suit the cause are coming into form. So if they’re all on form, this could be an absolute ripper of a major. The course always produces great results, probably low scoring. But if you’re a betting man and you don’t mind not making much money, then put it on Roy M. [Music] [Music]

  1. Zander seems to have played well around that course even tho his form isn’t great. Hopefully a turning point for him.

On another note. Are i230 really a bad feeling iron? Some people say it feels better than some of the clubs branded “forged”. Obviously won’t feel like a blade. Seems popular enough with tour players
