@NoMercyJKB – The St. Louis Cardinals recently fired longtime general manger John Mozeliak, & to say it was long overdue would be a vast understatement.

The elation from Mozeliak’s firing quickly evaporated when I came to find that Cards brass is keeping him around the team for the final year of his contract, but not to clean bathrooms or make coffee runs.

Mozeliak, who was just fired for not winning enough, is spending his final season acting as a mentor to his replacement & helping to set the team up to “win consistently” for years to come.

He didn’t win enough games, got fired for not winning enough games, now he’s teaching the new guy how to win games…what a brilliant strategy. It’s like something right out of the Michael Scott playbook.

Cardinals brass are calling this a quote transitionary period. Why the would you want the guy you’re firing to help his replacements transition? You want the GM you just fired for not winning enough to teach the new GM how to win?
