Hello everyone, it’s Paige and welcome back to my YouTube channel. We have a very special video for you today. It is USGA media day at Oakmont getting ready for the US Open. I played Oakmont just one time last year and I’m so excited to see the golf course again and this time you’re coming along with me. So, let’s go. [Music] Hey, hey, [Music] hey. Heat. Heat. N. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Okay, so we are off. We’re doing a shotgun. We’re teeing off on 12. And I have a fantastic group today. We have Roger and Kyle. Evan is somewhere. Uh these guys hit it a mile. A mile. So, it’s going to be a really fun round and I’m excited. The rough is very thick and uh very juicy. We like to say it’s thicker than a bowl of oatmeal. So, uh it’s going to be fun and I’m excited to see how it goes. [Music] Uh, good first T- shot. I not going to lie, I almost topped that. I was a little bit nervous because Kyle, Evan, and Roger all hit their drives over 350 yards. So, you’re you’re a little nervous standing up on that first tee. Uh, but it’s it’s beautiful out here. And greens are where it’s get tricky. So hopefully I can just get it on the green, get my two putts, and then [Music] go. We got the birdie, which is good, but you never want a birdie at the first hole. But maybe since we start on the 12, that erases the curse. We’re on hole 13 now, and you can see the hospitality that they’re building. And this will be a really cool hole to come out and hang out on. As you can see, it’s really nice. They actually removed thousands and thousands of trees. It used to be completely treeline. The course looks so different. And what’s nice is when you’re sitting there, you can actually see all of the action on the front and a little bit on the back nine. So, that’s going to be a really good spot to sit if you’re out here for the US [Music] [Music] Open. So far, right? [Music] Like you have to be so careful on it because you’re standing on the tea and like doesn’t look that bad and you’re like, “Oh, I feel like I can shoot low here.” And then good example on the last hole, I had to play 10 plus feet of break and then you have to get the speed control. And these aren’t even US Open conditions. When they’re US Open conditions, it’s fast and it’s firm and the rough is thick. And like the fact that they can shoot so low on these courses is [Music] incredible. So I don’t play a lot of like I play a lot of fun golf. Fun golf you don’t have to putt those. So we’ll see how these three putters go. I’m uh about two days out from the Crater Classic and I have to putt those out as well. So this will be good practice for that. that I do not hit three-footers anymore. I don’t grind over putts. That almost ain’t going. We’ll do our feet. But we made our birdie. All right. [Music] I think I have good luck today. And I did this on purpose. Uh since my parents are from Pittsburgh, I’m a big Steelers fan. They’re a big Steelers fan. So, I wore all black with some gold yellow uh to rep Pittsburgh. So, I think that’s bringing me some good luck on the course today. [Music] They look like they’re going to be so much faster. We’ll take We’ll take my first par of the day. We’re in some good shots right now. Golf can be so fun sometimes and then so not fun other times. So, let’s just keep the fun going. Another birdie. Uh, three birdies and five holes. We’ll take it. Heat. Hey, Heat. [Music] had a little trouble off the tea. We made our bar. I have a funny story about two. Uh where the pin is, it’s tucked on the left side. I have played here one other time and this was like the perfect introduction into Oakmont. I made a par on the first hole. I was feeling good. Hit a great shot on my se my drive here. And the caddy was like, “Okay, you have 115 into this pin. You cannot hit it half a yard past 115. If you are, you’re dead. I hit it. It was perfect. We walk up. I hit it 116. And I was in the bunker and I’m like, “This is an easy bunker shot. I got this.” And the guy looked at me dead in the eyes. He goes, “You’re going to make double.” I said, “It’s a it’s an easy bunker shot.” He’s like, “You’re going to make double.” I made double. And that’s just how Oakmont is where you are just in certain spots where you are dead and there’s almost nothing you can do. And with this pin in that back bunker, it’s not good. So hopefully I’m in a better spot today. And I didn’t go in that back bunker. Um, but there’s just something about number two that like gets in my head a little bit. That was almost a disaster. We were almost back in that back bunker again. Um, it’s not going to be an easy putt, but we’re not in that bunker. And and this is again what I’m talking about. Like you look at this back bunker and you’re like, it’s an easy bunker shot. No, it’s not. [Music] We made a par, a great par on my nemesis hole. And now we’re coming up to three, which is iconic. Everyone knows Oakmont from the church pews. Amazing church pews, iconic, and you just don’t want to be in them. They’re great to look at. They’re not great to hit out of. So, let’s avoid the left side where I said not to go Sometimes you get lucky. Um, there was a lip I caught slightly thin, clipped it, and then kind of shot it forward. So, sometimes you better be lucky than good. [Music] Finally a good one. Two bad drives in a row. Uh we ended up going making that bogey there. But back in the fairway, back in play with a par five, so we can make another birdie hopefully. I learned that we need to probably get off the golf course pretty soon. Yeah. Thank you. Okay, so we made our five. Not what we wanted with only 230 in. Uh but it is what it is. So, let’s go. We’re calling it. Uh, thanks for watching. Subscribe to my channel, like today’s video, leave a comment, and I’m going to go get warm in the clubhouse. Okay, bye. JK, we’re actually back out now after a weather delay. We walked all the way back to the clubhouse, all the way back here, and uh now let’s let’s play some [Music] golf. Wow. [Music] JK, we are actually going back to the shelter uh for another lightning delay. So, let’s see if we get back out on the course [Music] again. And we’re back out. Paul ended up there. We’re going to try to get up and down and then go to the next hole. [Music] going to have a bit of a long putt, but I gave myself that like three-footer there. Overall, [Music] Made our three, made our par. And we need to make some birdies. We need to make some birdies. We’re still three under, which is good. And uh let’s do something [Music] good. I don’t know about it. Um, you can’t miss it where I missed it was shortsighted, not in a good position and when there’s slow play or like I have to wait, I get really bothered by it and I’ve been starting to hit bad shots because like we’ve been waiting and there was some delays and so I need to get focused back into it and try not to make another pokey. [Music] Okay, a bogey. I’m disappointed in myself because they’re mental mistakes and like I should have never hit that shot from there. I had so much room left and again like when things go bad and around I just start to like lose focus and I need to stay focused and try to make some birdies and some good shots. No more [Music] bogeies. We needed that. so bad. We made another bogey. Was not going to be good. Um, but we’re still one under with a couple holes to play. So, let’s get it back to three. We’re actually still two under. Uh, not one under. We’re two under. So, let’s try to make another bird to get to three under. Um, I thought I was doing worse than I really am, but I’m not. We are still two under. [Music] Okay. [Music] So, you went over [Music] That might have been the greatest hoop putt of my entire life. So, we made our birdie and we are back to three under with two to play. [Music] That last shot I hit was horrendous. Maybe one of the worst shots I’ve hit in a very long time. And then that was one of my best shots I’ve ever hit. So from bad to good and saving our par, we will take it. But that’s just golf. Like if you hit a horrible shot, don’t get too down on yourself because then the next shot you could hit the best shot of your life. [Music] [Music] Hey. [Music] We’re done. Uh it was a long day, but we got it done. Um three under. Amazing experience. Thank you to the USGA for having us all out here. It was truly truly special and I can’t wait to watch the real pros get it done during the US Open. If you’re in Pittsburgh or not even, come out here for this event. It’s going to be incredible.
