All right, at this point everybody has seen the Hideki video, the one of him just grinding in a full-on torrential downpour. Now, I could sit here and make another video kind of ripping on him for testing putters, but rather than do that, let’s just dive a little bit deeper and see if we can find him a putter he doesn’t have to switch from and one he doesn’t have to spend time practicing like this with. I’ve talked about this before, but if I was in person fitting Hideki for a putter, these are all the things I would be taking into account. That being said, in my personal opinion, the two most important things are offset and tohang. Both of these significantly influence face to path, which is essentially what we need to get the golf ball started online. In regards to towh hang, I always look at it like how are you applying torque to the putter. So for me personally, I’m usually looking at it from a grip pressure perspective. If you’re somebody who likes to have your hands port on top and kind of control the putter face closed going back, usually you’re going to want a little bit more towang. And if you’re somebody who kind of has their palms facing each other and you kind of open the face going back, usually you’re going to want a little bit less to hang. As for the way Hideki applies torque to the grip, I actually think the towh hang he has fits fine. And then our offset choice is going to be influenced by how we release the putter. So if you’re somebody who likes to hold the face off more so through impact, usually you’re going to want more offset. And if you’re somebody who really likes to throw the putter and kind of have it releasing at your belly button, usually you’re going to want less offset. Now, there are certainly other factors we could take into account here, like path and face and where you’re aiming. We don’t have Hideki’s numbers, but for example, Tiger Woods. Tiger actually aims the putter significantly open at a dress. But something he always talks about is feeling like he can throw the putter in terms of release. Toe passing the heel is the release he speaks of. And this is where it gets to at impact. As for me, when I’m talking about release, I’m not talking about toe passing the heel. I’m talking about the face passing your hands. All right. Now, let’s take a look at a couple Hideki videos. First one is him putting with a full shaft of offset. Okay. So, what do I notice here? To me, it looks like he’s trying to control how much offset this putter has with his release through impact. To me, he looks very uncomfortable, and he’s trying to hold it off to stop from pulling it. Now, let’s watch him when he went to the zero offset 9 in route to winning the century. Now, obviously the angle isn’t quite the same, but I think it is extremely evident how much more comfortable he looks with the fact that he can just fully release that thing and he does not have to worry about pulling it at all. The thing about Hideki, though, and why I don’t think he’s actually super comfortable with the straight shafted putter, is I don’t think he lives in that full release realm. I think he got comfortable for one week because he did not have to worry about pulling it at all and he went on an absolute tear. Let’s look at another video. I believe this is the next week or a couple of weeks later. Look at the release. What we’re looking at here is the shaft axis in relation to a deck’s belly button. This to me is the release he is actually comfortable with. It’s not super full and it’s not super hold offy. It’s kind of somewhere in the middle. Okay, here is my recommendation. I think he should work with Scotty Cameron to take a plumber’s neck, chop off the bucket, and reweld it at a half shaft or a quarter shaft of offset. Clearly, he likes the look of a plumber’s neck and the tow hang works, but in my personal opinion, the offset is where he’s struggling. I love Hideki, man. I actually don’t think the guy’s crazy. I just don’t think this putter build is anything they’ve considered. I would love to help if they would give me the opportunity.

Are you a pga pro or a fitter? Or are you neither and just smart as shit
I would give my right pinky toe to have this guy fit me for clubs and a putter
The way you articulate some of these things is phenomenal. I learn a lot.
You should be an announcer or broadcaster
This video made me realize I need to be fitted for a putter
