“It was nice to see not only that I was doing well and leading the tournament, but my teammates were playing great,” said Garcia, who follows teammate Abraham Ancer as individual champions in Hong Kong. “They were keeping us there with a chance to win. Obviously when you can pull the double, it’s a lot sweeter than if it’s just one of them. Very proud of them.”
Well, I started with two fireballs and now I got all four of them, including the captain. So, I got to start with you, Sergio. Back-to-back wins for your team. Not only that, this is your third time clean sweep. So, you guys won the individual as well as a team. How proud are you of your boys right now? So proud. Uh, every single one of them. I know that uh Louis is probably a little bit disappointed uh after the way he started the the the tournament, but um you know, he knows how much we believe in him. uh and he came out big with that birdie on on uh on 10 on his last hole to uh to give me the the chance of two patting this easy 55 footer down the hill. Uh so uh you know that that means a lot and uh I’m super proud of all of them. Well Abe, you had a great weekend. I mean how how much memories are coming back to you on the 18th and all the celebration now watching your captain Sergio lifting the trophy? Well, after seeing him obviously play in the last last tournaments and I mean pretty much all year, I know he was in cruise control for this week and uh yeah, I mean we have great vibes. I personally have great vibes for this tournament and on 18 made birdie today. I needed to get something going. 18 I hit a great shot and then made the putt for birdie and then I made some birdies coming in which it was nice and I knew we needed to make some birdies to to get the W. Um so it was really cool and then for Luis to make that birdie as well was was pretty sweet. Well, it was pretty mental for all of us in the booth as well as on the golf course to try and keep up with what’s going on with the score. This is for any of you. Uh, how much were you watching the leaderboard? How aware were you of what was going on? Pooj, we’ll go to you. No. Yeah, I was watching the leaderboard. Um, I had a pretty decent week myself and obviously looking that a little bit too, but but the team competition was the was the important part for me today. Um, I think I did a good job personally and all the all the guys played very good. So super happy to get that second week in a row. Well, Hong Kong is a great place to celebrate. How are you guys going to celebrate tonight? Just got to choose. You We’re going to Zuma. Yeah, we’re going Zuma and then we’ll see what happens. Well, yep. Did you know, Louise, that you had to make that birdie on the tip? Yeah, I had the scoreboard, so I knew I had to make birdie. Uh, very happy to be able to make that putt cuz I mean, I screwed it up a little bit on the back nine. So, a little bit relieved. and I’m very happy for the team. Well, congratulations, guys.
