Eli Willits highlights Fort Cobb-Broxton’s Class B baseball state championship
The 2025 Oklahoma high school boys golf state tournaments concluded Tuesday at sites across the state.
The tournaments began Monday with the first two rounds, while the third and final round was held Tuesday.
Here’s a look at what happened.
Class 4A: Heritage Hall’s Ben Lathrop, OCS win titles
Ben Lathrop was locked in at the Class 4A state tournament.
The Heritage Hall junior had a stellar start Monday and was at 7-under 133 following two rounds. He even tied the state tournament course record with a 6-under 64 in the second round.
Lathrop didn’t have quite as dominant of a performance in the final round Tuesday, but he did more than enough to earn the victory.
Lathrop finished with a three-round total of 1-under 209 as he won the title at Dornick Hills Golf & Country Club in Ardmore.
“Everything was kind of working,” Lathrop said. “Today was not my best. Putting kind of went cold, but it was good the first two rounds, and that’s what helped me succeed.”
Lathrop helped Heritage Hall place fourth in the team standings, while Oklahoma Christian School won the championship at 56-over 896, Cascia Hall placed second at 76-over 913 and Plainview placed third at 81-over 918.
Lathrop’s strong first day separated him in the individual race, and he finished nine strokes ahead of the runner-up, OCS junior Ty Neatherlin.
“It was fun,” said Lathrop, who was the Class 5A runner-up last year. “I’ve been wanting to get this win for a while, but I just trusted my parents, and everybody helped me, and God most importantly.”
OCS led by 10 strokes over Heritage Hall heading into Tuesday before pulling away and cruising to the win.
The Saints claimed their first boys golf championship since 2023 and now have 11 overall.
Neatherlin was their top finisher, while freshman Ainslie Stanford tied for eighth at 14-over 224, sophomore Reed Higgins tied for 10th at 16-over 226, senior Aaron Cummings placed 19th at 24-over 234 and junior Braden Haines tied for 30th at 31-over 241.
“It’s a really cool course,” Neatherlin said. “It plays really tough. It’s just really cool to play and win here as a team.”
