Sahit Thala is a dark horse heading into this year’s PGA Championship. The PGA Tour announced that Sahit Thala pulled out of the truest championship before the final round, casting doubt on his fitness ahead of the PGA Championship where he will be aiming to get the better of Rory Mroy and co. The world number 31 is considered a dark horse for the second major of the year with the reigning Masters champion and Scotty Sheoffller favorites for the event, but the Gala’s preparations have been hampered. The 27year-old’s weekend was cut short before he could take to the course alongside Garrick Higo in the first group on Sunday. The tour issued a statement on social media which read, “Sahit Thigala WD) before the final round of the truest championship neck injury. An average opening two rounds took place before Theala slid to last place with an 8 over 78. There are no cuts in the signature event, but he opted to pull out, becoming the third player to do so after Justin Rose and Michael Kim. It remains to be seen just how much of an impact his neck injury will have at the PGA Championship, which begins on Thursday at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. He finished T12 last year, and his girlfriend Guju Chan claimed that Theala rushed the back nine on Saturday, trying to get off the course as quickly as possible. She asked her social media followers to wish Sahith a speedy recovery as the pair headed into Philadelphia on Sunday after the golfer received some physical therapy.
