It’s time for the sixth Signature Event on the PGA TOUR schedule, and the TOUR ’s best heads to The Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon Course. This week also marks the return of Rory McIlroy, who is set to play his first individual event since his Masters triumph. Although it’s a different course, McIlroy is still the defending champion of the tournament. The Philadelphia Cricket Club is an architectural gem from A.W. Tillinghast and will be a one-year fill-in for Quail Hollow Club, which will host the PGA Championship next week. Joining McIlroy is Justin Thomas, who will tee it up once again after his win at the RBC Heritage, as will other top players such as Ludvig Åberg, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Hideki Matsuyama.

You step up and hit it. Frank, he doesn’t mess around. Another excellent shot. Coach John Tiller will be watching. That 82 yd shot that I’ve seen a lot and I’ve only seen one guy be able to keep it on that lower shelf from here and that was Hideki. down. He’s screaming already for it to get down. Better spin. Oh, it does. Settle. Settle. Settle. Like another yard or so. And it’s above that ridge. I don’t know if it comes down at all. That comes quickly back. He’s been putting, he’s been scrambling. There’s another player that has a twin brother through the boyards. Okay, this one for Eagle for Seth Striker set up by a driver and a fiveiron. And he makes it. What a start these guys have had. Two under path through five holes. Started at 14. Like so many wonderful tilling courses, San Francisco Gold reminds me of this in so many ways. Wonderful shots for Striker. Actually strengthened his grip with everything. Looks good. This looks pretty good. Pretty good indeed. Once again, that beautiful drip speed you use. The cup becomes so much bigger when the ball’s just rolling in there at the right speed. It’s just a beautiful roll, isn’t it? Grip looked good. Pace was perfect as we go back to nine. Yeah, it’s a tribute to the original 9-hole course built here at Philly Qriket Club back in 1895 by architect Willie Tucker. That’s why they set it at 95 today. They once expanded to an 18hole course and they actually hosted two US Opens on that St. Martins’s course. Back to nine. Okay, just ahead of them you saw Keith Mitchell knock it stiff. He tapped in for birdie. Here’s Straa. That’s eight iron away. plays four yards uphill from here. All in all, pretty good. But here is Straka trying to up the lead to two. Turning left and then it finds its way into the funnel toward the hole. Well said. Right in the heart. Made the decision to lay back off the T8 iron in. And when you’re put in like this, Andy said he got a text and it was the easiest yes ever. Looking to do a Joey Griner perhaps. Okay. Well, you’ll get a good read. Hit the putt the ball off the toe of the putter. That kind of deadens it just a little bit. When the when the sweet spots were small, it was easier to do. Very good effort there. Try something that uh just takes a little bit of that pace. Fortunately, I don’t have to worry about holding these. I’ve got friends at the club give them to me. All right, that’s a good three. You got to try and get that ball spinning back to the hole there to take different shot shape. Likes to move it from right to left. That’s a pretty good bounce out of it, too. No, no, you’re good. Out to the right. Turning over. He said he didn’t quite catch it. They both are way short on this golf course. That was a hicken course. He already eagled the other one on the front, the fifth. Pretty solid. Playing it outside. Just touched it. There’s the hook. Down the left side. All right. Up the right with a little draw. Hang in there. Oh boy. Watch out here. Okay. contact was crisp. Line is good. It’s better than good. Now it’s going to be down in that Clay zone. Well, we’ve seen three putts already. Yeah. Pretty close here. That was close to the cup, wasn’t it? For a second there. Now Shane to apply some pressure. He was happy with that effort. Had to be this running out to an uncomfortable distance right here. Here it goes. He knew it right about here. He’s like settle. But he’s going to have Seth Stracoa wins the signature event, the truest championship joins Rory. Maroy is the only multiple winners on tour this season. That’s right. Seth, you talked about the nerves that you have to handle in order to win out here on tour. Describe those nerves that you were feeling today and what you had to do to get it done here at a signature event. Yeah, you just uh you know, you it’s hard to eat. You just feel kind of nauseous. Um can’t feel your arms, legs, whatever. You know, you’re just kind of fighting through it. But that’s kind of what makes it fun. you know, when you’re pulling off shots with that feeling, uh, it makes it makes it really special. Not being able to feel your arms or legs feels like a very challenging thing while you’re playing out here on the PGA Tour. When you think of a moment today, what are you most proud of? Is it a shot? Is it a mentality? What is it? Yeah, I think just hanging in there. You know, I made uh I hit a lot of really good shots and I made a lot of mistakes. Um, so, uh, yeah, just, uh, hanging in there and giving myself a chance and, uh, you know, I had a two- shot lead and then bogey the next two holes, uh, to lose it and, uh, just keeping the same same attitude, same mentality through whole round. It’s Mother’s Day, so I’d be remiss not to talk about your family. I know that you guys are really tight-knit. What are the sacrifices that your mom made to allow you to get here today? We know that she’s watching. Yeah. Um, you can’t even put it in words, really. you know, you you don’t really realize it until uh until you have kids yourself. Uh the sacrifices that my wife makes every day. Um you know, it just makes you so much more grateful for the parents that you have. And um I just Yeah, I just can’t believe uh all those sacrifices from from my parents paid off. I know that they’re watching right now, so you can look right in there and give them a message. Yeah. Happy Mother’s Day. Thanks for for everything you do every day. Uh and Paige, uh just uh yeah, hug Leo for me. Congratulations. enjoyed this one set up. Thank you, Jim. Hey PGA channel admin, maybe don't spoil who the winner is in your youtube title? It might be fun to show some highlights and the head to head battles down to the 18th hole finisher? Think about people who couldn't watch it live.
Who?
The folk shouting after the shots is always embarrassing to hear.
