It’s time for the sixth Signature Event on the PGA TOUR schedule, and the TOUR ’s best heads to The Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon Course. This week also marks the return of Rory McIlroy, who is set to play his first individual event since his Masters triumph. Although it’s a different course, McIlroy is still the defending champion of the tournament. The Philadelphia Cricket Club is an architectural gem from A.W. Tillinghast and will be a one-year fill-in for Quail Hollow Club, which will host the PGA Championship next week. Joining McIlroy is Justin Thomas, who will tee it up once again after his win at the RBC Heritage, as will other top players such as Ludvig Åberg, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Hideki Matsuyama.

Not much goes wrong with that golf swing of his. Just a very simple turn. Seems like the right spot to punt from. Not 100%, man. Exactly. And you sort of saw how poor the second shot was as opposed to how good the T-shot. Yeah. Yeah. So it’s a he’s a form of comparison. Uh-huh. Struck at the seventh. Watched him in warm up before the round. He was really hitting it well. Moving his targets around because of the wind, hitting different shaped shots. Pretty impressive. That’s a good one right there. Striker at the seventh and as good as he strikes it with wedge. This a green light. Beautiful technique there. Sawing that follow through off just to keep the flight down. Pull a birdie putt of his own and he does. Everyone’s making everything. wrong direction for the dog leg left as we go to nine and striker’s approach. That swing is like clockwork. Been brilliant distance control wise. Here’s another. Yeah, it’s beautiful swing. Takes it up on a good line and then just drops it back on the inside. on the green is separ. Well, Mark said that swing is clockwork and it’s baby shots in warm up where he really shortens the follow through to bring that flight down. There it is. Let’s take control about 20 minutes away at Aronomic Birdie. That looked pretty good from our angle. Got to make your mind up with your speed intention first, then figure the break out after that 15. Well, Straco certainly ripped his T- shot. Sevenwood coming in. He’s ripped that too on a beautiful line. hanging against the sky and just on top of the bunker and home safe. Gosh, that was pretty, wasn’t it? Oh my goodness. Majestic. Launched it way up there. Eagles today at the 15th. Fenile and M Straa. I’m taking nothing for granted these days for birdie. and the co-lead. It’s a solid point you made, Trevor, about just uh back here. 16 28 yd paw three second shot. Oh, Frank exquisite. Just dropped the head of the sandwich on that. That was gorgeous. And back to 16. Thomas has tapped in for his three. See if this comes right out of the middle for Seth. That does go. The guys handling the heat. 17. 174 ball speed. That’s pretty normal. That’s tour average, just a little under. And uh this is where Sep came up with his drive. 173 left to the hole. Really tight leg action. Makes him a good fairway bunker player up the hill. Beautifully played. There’s just not a lot of up and down movement in his swing. He stays so level. There was moisture in the greens yesterday, too, which makes it a little slower. I know they’re still quick, but he’s set for birdie. There you go. Drops it in from the top side. That came in at 3:00 on the clock face. Distance is 85 yds longer at 224. Just a beast of a closing hole. Light the candle and Straa our leader at the 18th. Beast move. You add a healthy dose of wind in your face to close is hardly enterprising. Loves to hit little baby draws. Yeah, he’s set up for it. Oh, it’s not drawing. There’s a baby push. Yeah, not going to get much spin. So, needs to play the roll out. That’s what he’s trying. It better get to rolling. Little heavy starting today. He was plus six first two days. And that’s Straa at 18 with a wonderful save. That is huge to try and hold the lead. You said that this course suits your eye, but you were talking about your iron play, but you got it done today with your putting and around the greens. Yeah. Um, definitely. It was really windy. It was hard to control shots. Felt like I hit a lot of good iron shots. Didn’t get a whole lot out of some of them, but uh the chipping and putting was uh was really nice today. Well, let’s take a look at some of those highlights because there were plenty of them on this windy day and we’re going to start off with your birdie on seven. Yeah. Um, you know, the putters felt good all week. Um, I’ve been seeing the lines really well and uh that was another one where the speed was good and uh you just got to match the speed in the in the in the breakup. Then this on nine. Yeah. Uh that was really nice. Um you know, just anytime you can make putts, especially in the wind, uh is huge. You’re second on 15. Yeah, that was a strike. Uh, I hit that one in the screws. I wasn’t quite sure if I could cover and looks like it was just barely. So, I was looking for that pitch mark that makes sense just in the first cut. That was beautifully done. You can see a little smile there from you. And then birdie on 17. Yeah, this one was really nice. It was a bonus. I drove hit a drove in the bunker uh hit a really good seven to there and then uh was able to kind of curl in the back edge there. As we look forward to seeing you in the final pairing tomorrow, you told me you made a slight change with your driver. Talk to us about that. Yeah. Uh, you know, the first two days I felt terrible with the driver. I was uh pushing it way right and uh didn’t have a whole lot on it. And I was texting with my coach last night and he kind of gave me a pointer on a few sequence things and uh it was it was way better today. Thanks for watching the PJ tour on YouTube.
