AUSTIN — The Kerens Bobcat golf team had an impact in the 2A Boys State Golf Tournament Tuesday at the u. The Bobcats finished second to Mildred in the Regional Tournament to earn their second consecutive trip to Austin and the 2A State Tournament.

The Bobcats were led by the Ritchie Twins, arguably the top two pitchers and two of the best overall baseball players in all of Class 2A baseball in Texas. Both saw their phenomenal high school baseball careers end last week in the playoffs but showed their class and character by bouncing back and competing in the 2A state golf tournament Monday.

Kannon shot an 81 in the abbreviated 18-hole tournament and Krayton fired an 85. Andy Conklin who played shortstop and pitched for the state-ranked Bobcats, shot a 94 and Mason Spicer (113) and Alex Cobbs (125), another starter for the baseball Bobcats, played well in the state golf finals. Kerens senior Blair Blue competed in the Girls 2A State Tournament.
